Rifle/Axe-Wathorn Build: Suggestions?
Looks cool, I’ve been wondering for a while if warhorn builds are viable/strong for roaming in WvW for example.
I would argue that the opportunist traits could be changed to something else though. For gear I guess since you have +3k hp and it’s a sort of condition converter build you could use some toughness, cavalier trinkets/knights coat, helmet, leggings with the thought of maxing stat efficiency in a duel.
Please do share how it works out if you try it
Seems to me you always want the third level healing for the passive regen.
Thanks for the replies. I specced opportunist ’cuz I figured it complimented the cripple in rifle and axe.
I’m on the fence as to if I should use sword/warhorn instead of axe to take advantage of the sword bleed. The tossup is that axes cripple is 900 range while sword cripple is melee.
I’m seeing this as a www roamer spec. Mostly a range warrior thing.
As a roamer, you need to have access to the swiftness boon. However I find that as a second hand, the shield beats the warhorn in utility every time. Therefore I run boon duration runes have almost 100% uptime on elite signet.
as a WvW roamer, going axe and rifle is difficult based on the fact that you have low mobility despite access to the swiftness boons.
Eles and thieves can easily catch you, even if you have a headstart in running. If you have any sort of cripple on you, or if you are in combat and they are not, your chances of escaping zergs or situations like that is slim.
going sword would probably be the better choice as you have more mobility and you are not as easy to catch. Axe would probably better serve you in 1v1 situations because of higher DPS but I don’t think it is worth sacrificing mobility.
And I disagree with the shield being better in utility. Warhorn brings an extra swiftness buff, removes conditions that impair mobility while giving vigor and applying weakness. And it is AoE so if you have multiple people in your roaming party you are benefitting the team way more. All of this is on a low-mid cooldown.
Plus when you get the trait that lowers warhorn CD and you convert conditions on you into boons. Which means you can get access to boons that warriors do not have naturally like protection, regeneration, etc.
For PvE, drop the Rifle. Longbow is better for PvE, and does more DPS.
