Rifle Engineer Vs Warrior
If you’re going for a long-range sniper type character, a warrior would probably suit you better. The rifle skills for engineers are all used at a much closer range than the warrior rifle skills — warrior rifles are good for ranged single-target damage, engineer rifles are used a bit more like shotguns.
ok makes sense, how about when traits are applied to the weapons?
Rifle Warrior’s are more your typical ‘sniper’ in terms of the Rifle skills you get, which all have a base range of 1200, where as the Engineer is more your Demolitions expert whose Rifle skills have ranges varying from 1000 to 400 and acts more like a Shotgun than a rifle.

Warrior can Trait for Crack Shot, which decreases the Cooldown on your Rifle Skills and also makes your shots pierce so they will go through targets.
You can also trait into 50% longer bleeds, as the Rifles ‘auto-attack’ has a stacking bleed on it.
They’re completely different in playstyle, despite using the same weapon. The true sniper is a range-traited Longbow Ranger with their 1500 range; this being said, the Rifle Warrior is a longer ranged fighter than the Rifle Engineer. Though I dare say the Rifle Engineer is more useful for group situations.
The burst skill does shoot to 1500, but otherwise yeah rangers are better. Also, with a bow you can often manually shoot something outside your ‘range’. I haven’t tried to work it out exactly, but it seems to just travel a bit further than the range thing indicates. But with a rifle, the shot just goes ‘nope’ when the red bar is there.
