Rifle Solo Questing Kill Speed
Yes, soloing PvE with the rifle would be extremely slow, I wouldn’t recommend it. It doesn’t matter how you are specced, you can still take out axes or a GS and do better with those than a rifle. A longbow might be good for PvE but I’ve never tried it myself.
2 Mesmer (sPvP only)
GS is the fastest killing build but a few adds and you get owned, especially in cursed shore. Longbow is ok but still slow. I find sword/wh, double axe or double sword(yeah yeah I know) to be fine.
Full adrenaline killshot though can be fun with rifle though.
Edit: Nothing kills faster than a frenzy/might/HB :P
It’s not too bad. You can spec for loldamage with a rifle and not have to worry about adds or getting stomped flat by a boss’s heavy melee, but most of the time yeah, NPC’s are so daft you can cut them into salad with a glassy sword build too.
BUT… the greatsword recharge skill is in the same line as the rifle one. Make of that what you will.
You should definitely use a Longbow for solo questing/leveling instead of a rifle.
It’s far superior pre-80.
after hitting 80, what changes? Rifle is viable then for Orr and dungeons? Why?
I disagree, I went from 1 to 80 with a rifle and dual axes and used the rifle to draw and reduce health by half until the mob comes in contact and then either switch to axes of butt stroke and finish it off in one or two more shots. If may not be as fast as some but still fun and very playable.
I assume the longbow is better for pre-80 because it has more AoE. I’ve never really used it much on the warrior. My rifle does see a fair bit of use in 80 zones though. I can hurt things (even kill them, if they’re trashy) before they run up to me, or use it on champions that I don’t want to get too close to. Since a few trash enemies in a group tend to line up easily too, it can railgun through them pretty easily if traited and apply cripple, 5x vuln, bleeding etc. to all of them. My rifle isn’t even exotic either, it’s the skin of a lvl 70 exotic on a found lvl 80 rare with vaguely less than ideal stats (vitality, for instance).
EDIT: not that you can’t kite with it – it has a snare and knockback, so even without another utility for that it’s pretty good. Just that, in Orr adds are dense and plentiful, so I try not to run around much while fighting.
