Hello battle beaten blood thirsty warriors.

I play a elementalist as my main, but am interested in possibly taking a warrior to 80. I have become interested in playing a class that uses rifles and I was thinking that Engineer would be the class for this. But once I looked into their rifle skills, it seemed their “rifle” was more like a shotgun. So I looked to warrior.. It seems the warriors rifle skills are more of what I am looking for. I have seen some warriors do some crazy damage with the rifle which intrigued me. So I wanted to get the warrior community’s opinion on some things.

Firstly, I love to WvW so my questions are based around this and hopefully your answers will be solely for WvW.

I am interested in what you guys think about the rifle as a primary weapon in WvW(viable?). Also what would you guys say is a good secondary weapon set that compliments the rifle? I heard Rifle and Axe/Shield is good?

Can yall recommend any builds that focus on the rifle?

Any pros/cons to rifle? Or why other weapons are a better choice in WvW?

You’re probably going to want some sort of build using Kill Shot from a group. Roaming with one isn’t the best of choices. You can, however, blow squishy heads apart from 1,500 range pretty often if you care to line up the shots from a group’s backline.

Rifle build is so bad, Kill Shot is one of the easiest dodgeable skills and in this particular build it’s basically your major damage source.

In WvW though you can try shooting from the crowd as Sil stated, but you will probably have not much fun outside of the zerg group.

Being dual-sword/rifle since game launch, mainly use rifle for WvW. I used to be in condition build with 10/30/20/0/10 (pre-patch) but recently change to 0/30/0/10/30. The problem of first build in WvW is that since rifle can only target single enemy and only apply one type of condition, you cant kill anyone easily. But good thing is with Healing Signet and Adrenal Health, i can always stay in frontline.

My current build is bit squishy but can always deal more than 1K autoattack and 10K in Kill Shot(i dont use that skill often, so idk about average damage) with close to 100% crit chance.

Overall i think rifle warrior is in average; you can deal some direct damage, some condition damage, support and stay alive, but nothing great at. And i dont think there will be any changes to the rifle. Go get GS/Hammer/Mace if you want to play warrior.

Ok, so far pretty negative towards rifle. Anyone else have any other opinions/builds on rifle warriors in WvW?

I’ve used the rifle quite a bit in a roaming role. It has always been my favorite because the #3 and F1 both track thieves in stealth if you activated the skill prior to them disappearing. As far as it being your primary weapon… I’m sure it’s possible to pull off but don’t expect to be out dpsing every class at range.

Regarding your secondary weapon, a simplified answer would be to think about the role you want that weapon to fill, Mobility? Damage? CC? and choose accordingly.

I have run as a Rifle Warrior in WvW. Secondary set was Axe/Warhorn but shield works too. The build centered around having constant Fury via the Arms IX, and Tactics I traits. These combined with Rifle 2/Axe 3 provide Fury and a 1 second immobilize. Was pretty effective when paired with crack shot, and I also went Sharpened Axes for some extra punch when enemies got within melee range. Certainly one of my favorite builds when surfing the zerg.

I’ve played rifle warrior in wvw since headstart and really love it. I had a break of a few month not playing at all. Before that time rifle warrior had a really hard time competing in 1vs1 because of the lack of sustain. It really shines in larger battles and small skirmishes.

With the latest patches this has changed. I’m playing Rifle + Sword/Shield which works really great even 1vs1 against most professions. You have to use both weapon sets carefully. Dont expect to just sit in the back using only volley + killshot. This works only against upscaled noobs with crap items. Guess what? Everything works against those.

My current build is 0/25/15/10/20 with knights armor + berserker trinkets. I also played ele in wvw for a long time, but currently I prefer to play my warrior. It’s so much fun to have both decent melee + range skills in wvw.

Would yall say that rifle warrior is a fun weapon to play or is it bland and boring? I am trying to decide between creating a theif vs warrior. I have tried them both in sPvP but can’t really scope what it is going to be like in WvW. I like that the rifle is unique and not many people play it, but I want it to be engaging and fun to where I don’t get bored of it quickly.

I’m looking for a ranged weapon to use. I have a Jugg for my main weapon, but I want something that is ranged. The 2 choices are Longbow or Rifle?

Rifle is what I’ve been using, I dont mind it but I wanted to know what people think of rifle vs longbow.
