Preface: I’m perfectly happy rolling around melee on my warrior, I don’t find that I’m too fragile and I’ve done well with a few different builds. I simply wanted to try something different. A lot of the strategy is tailored to WVW but it should be easily translated and tailored to PVE or SPVP.

The build…
http://www.gw2build.com/builds/simulator.php#1.2.8.3.0.21.35.31.0.32.27.49.46.35.50.2.2.6.80.0.0.95.97.101.0.0.0.0.0.0.140.145.146.10.30.0.0.30

The build is centered around using the rifle as your main source of damage. The Sword/Warhorn is simply used for mobility though it can be used for combat in a pinch. The sigils of Hydromancy and Energy should help when the heat is too much for your liking though you can play around with them for added dps. Now back to the rifle…

The idea is to get as much out of your burst and 3 and 4 button as much as possible while being full of adrenaline as much as possible which had me go deep in to Arms and Discipline for abilities but the boosts to crit and crit damage work well as it is. There isn’t much in the way of defense outside your weapon sets so this would fit in the glass cannon catagory but being that you can fight from up to 1200m away, distance should be some of your armor.

All the minor runes in Arms seem to be designed for the Rifle, extra bleeds for more bleed uptime which pairs well with the 10% extra damage to bleeding foes and the 10% crit chance for bursts will increase your spike damage. Major runes.

V-Rending Strikes. I think vulnerability is underrated and the ability pairs well with high crit and increasing your spike damage…it’s also another condition they have to remove which stacks back up in short order.

VII-Musketeer. Goes without saying and it’s a noticeable difference. Pierce is a handy ability when used at choke points such as bridges and tunnels that seem to be common around many supply camps and towers(especially in Eternal Battleground). Seeing your big salvo hit 2 or 3 people is quite a sight but I would consider it a gift rather than try for it.

XI-Furious. Along with Berserkers Stance and Signet of Fury, this is the fuel for your engine. The quicker you can replenish your adrenaline the quicker you can increase your damage.

Discipline minor runes don’t overtly do much for your damage but the quicker you can swap back to your rifle after making a hasty maneuver with the sword/horn can make all the difference and the added might/adrenaline doesn’t hurt either.

V-Heightened Focus. Increased crit is always nice, especially when a lot of the build triggers off of crits. If you find yourself with an abundance of crit already, you can always swap it out for II or III.

X-Mobile Strikes. This is the only defensive ability to break cc when you hit Charge.

XI-Quick Bursts. Paired with Musketeer, you shouldn’t have to wait for your burst to recharge when you’re ready to use it.

Not much in Strength other than the major which is a pretty big one.

V-Berserker’s Power. You’re going to have adrenaline coming out the ears, might as well increase your damage.

Sigil- I prefer Sigil of Rage as it can hasten your burst salvo though having it trigger at the end of a salvo makes for a sad panda so I may try Superior Strength for a little more reliability.

Runes, Jewels and armor. Berserker increases your output and fits the glass cannon style though Knight’s works well too which will give you a little more survivability. Runes of Divinity are the all around good adding to defense/offense and the extra crit damage fits nicely into the build.

Slots 6-10
Healing Surge. As your heal it either feeds off your maxed adrenaline or helps build it.

Frenzy. A bit safer to use with the rifle than melee weapons, you can get a lot out of it as the build is built for burst damage.

Berserker’s Stance. More adrenaline when you need it. It pairs well when you pop Volley as you should be maxed before the last shot is off.

Signet of Fury. Even more adrenaline and a boost to crit chance. If you find yourself not using it you can sub in “For Great Justice!” for added damage.

Signet of Rage. The best choice here and some would say our only choice. It’s a good damage boost that takes little time to activate as well as a relatively short cooldown.

Putting it in action. I tend to lead with 4-Brutal Shot then burst-Kill Shot followed by 3-Volley. While you’d get more damage by putting Kill Shot last, I find that after I hit with Volley that my target has started their roll or are putting distance/terrain between us before Kill Shot finishes charging. Putting Volley after Kill Shot allows you to maneuver to keep your target in your cross-hairs as well as build adrenaline quickly. The only exception is when I use Frenzy as I can pop off Kill shot quickly after Volley.

Zzzing here i come

K this is my 1st build when i want to get maximum damage as fast as possible. It was good, but you also lack of survivability. Unlike point defender rifleman, u will rely on the trustworthy Kill Shot and it will be your main signature skill since it does a wonderkitten damage.

To cover the lack of survivability, mending is better then surge since people want to take you down badly as fast as possible, you can also add balanced stance, ignore pain when there are many glass cannon (specialy those 2hHB). 0/25/15/0/30 trait also quite awesome for long lasting (thx for regen passive) while still doing large amount of damage (it’s only 100-150 damage difference, even with 3rd stack of adrenaline)

Helpful tips
-“Deep cut” trait are more viable since you have 2 bleed source (3 with Signet, and it’s super effective since since your doing ALOT of crit).
-Signet of air actually viable on crit build since the lightning does up to 1,2k dmg at 3k attack.
-Instant ability like “on my mark”/“for great justice” are awesome since you can cast while charging the precious kill shot.
-Shield actually super awesome, especially on WvW since you can fill both main and offhand with tank stat+couple acc with orb (works if your wallet get blown up everytime like me). Those are livesaver when your enemy think you can’t do anything on melee range.
-Adrenal reserve is also mandatory since you need your adrenaline strike metter full/filled all the time for the wonderfull crit/regen/atk% bonus.

I hope that helps ya

The Rifle Warrior build should really be called Sniper Warrior for many reasons.
It is a very very easy set to play as, and although you’re highly squishy the damage output is amazing.

The Line up should be this way:
Brutal Shot (5 stacks of vul) -> On my Mark (10 stacks of vul) -> Frenzy (Quickness buff) -> Volley (Channeled Damage) -> Kill Shot (Charged Burst Skill)

[ In between attacks you should apply additional vulnerability stacks, bleeds and a lightning strike ]

Now my reason for this as follows is this build revolves around having that 15 stacks of vulnerability at the start of the fight.

This makes it hella easy in Tournaments to take down a marked man as fast as possible and be a true sniper; of course you don’t have the range of a real sniper but the damage is very true.

Now Mending over Healing Surge; why?
Because it removes two conditions on you, and since you’re going to be squishy as hell, can’t afford to not have bleed stacks on you – prevention is better than cure

http://www.gw2build.com/builds/simulator.php#1.2.8.3.0.19.20.31.0.32.29.40.49.46.50.2.2.6.80.0.0.95.97.101.0.0.0.0.0.0.142.141.146.10.30.0.0.30

Here’s the build, please note when i do tournaments I do switch from BeserkerAmulet (Default ) to Knights Amulet w/ Beserker Jewel to swap from sustained to squishy in long lasting team fiights, and I encourage you to frequently do gear swaps depending on your game

It makes a big difference when the would be thought glass cannon becomes a little bit of a hassle to take down. Beserker Amulet is only equiped when im ambushing and when im not discovered, since you really cannot afford to be 2v 1’d in this single target build

Trait points:
As little did you know most of you are using the High tended focus trait in the Discipline Tree. From reading around on the forums it has been pointed out that his trait tab is bugged as it doesn’t update the skill window.

Instead I put in signet recharge so that I have Signet of Rage up every 18s which is hella useful when you need a kick start of damage.
Also note that i have Sweet Revenge, it helps a lot to be just a little bit more annoying and with this burst build it can make a hella of a difference if you get focus fired leaving a buddy to a very nasty 2 v 1 situation.

Changing out the build
Now some would say that having a GS is better than a sword and war horn why?
Whirlwind and Rush are awesome for travelling the map with ease.

I do recommend if you do take up the GS over Sword and Horn, put 10 points in Tactics (Vitality) over Power and take the Leg specialist so whenever you use a cripple you immobilize your target, which is plenty of time for you to do a Frenzied Hundred Blades
—————————
Cliffs:
- Maximize DPS on Rifle Warrior / Sniper Warrior
- Explained Mechanics
- A bug pointed out in the Discipline Trait tree
- Suggestive planning
- Encouragement of swapping amulets in game
(Note Amulets give the largest stats in sPvP and make or break a build)
- Does more damage in WvW than sPvP ( Just raising awareness – not a lot of people know this )
- Guarantee’s 10k Crits.

Why on earth would you walk into any content as a warrior with 900 toughness? Seriously that should be an auto kick out of the game!

Few classes/builds can run with low Toughness, Warrior is not one of them!

2 reason why your argument are invalid

1. High lv warrior has more toughness wayyyy above 900 (mine is 2,3k without extra toughness)
2. Guild Wars 2 based on world/continent named Tyria not Earth.

(you must copy and paste this into your browser address or it will give you a Bad Link message)

This is a less squishy sniper warrior that I play 95% of the time I do sPvP, and am working my way towards it in WvW (level 61 at the moment).

Basically you have a 68% chance to crit unbuffed, around 22.5k hp, and 1200ish toughness. At the same time you are still dishing out considerable damage. You have fear/stomp/riflebutt for CC and the option to switch to warhorn for speed/end regen to get away and you can also use #2 to jump a good distance away (for this to be effective you must turn autotargeting off in Options or else you will autotarget the nearest enemy and jump towards them).

1v1 very few classes (including thieves) give me trouble, except for mesmers. 1v1 with guardians usually last long enough that someone else comes and finishes the fight. In the end it all comes down to player skill though, including yours. The best thing to do though is not 1v1 but to Kill Shot + volley someone who doesn’t even know you’re aiming at them (i.e. in the midst of a group vs group fight).

This line goes full into defense. I think at least 15 in defense is important for the regen. And let’s face it, your DPS is 0 if you are dead. Traits can be switched around depending on your preference. I have to say that the Endure Pain trait at the end of Defense is kind of useless, when I tested it it seemed to only be 2-3 seconds, not 5.

I use this same spec in PvE (except for dungeons) but instead I just dual wield axes, go all signets, and use the +40 precision trait. In WvW I use longbow during siege defense. The spec works both for zerg surfing or for small man guerrilla warfare. In PvP/WvW this build is pretty much exclusively range, but not fragile enough to be called glass cannon. To be honest this isn’t made for tPvP, but it functions well in a team in WvW. Anyways give it a try sometime for something different.
P.S. You can put whatever sigils you want on the sword/horn, in sPvP I actually rarely switch to them for more than a few seconds, and in WvW they are just for traveling/getting away.

Look at your crit damage and consider that you will have -or can have- Fury up most of the time.

As a Rifle Warrior looking at Trait we can have Fury up near 100% of the time!

@ Barzah If you have above 900 Toughness then you have above 900 Toughness! Is that hard to grasp?

As a Rifle Warrior you really can’t take down people 1v1, at least competent players in PvP spec, but what you can and should do is be an aggressive point holder and a tenacious single target controller.

@Cempa: you actually able to take down any class (cept mesmer since it takes time and not worth at all) with rifle build in 1vs1. The hard part is how to do it since we need to dodge around like playing thief/engi unlike other build that relly on hack & slash. You just need to pay attention on their buff/ what are they trying to do.

FYI, kill shot is your best friend, and never play fair match as rifle warrior. I don’t like fair play so this build suits me well, how about u guys?

“XI-Quick Bursts. Paired with Musketeer, you shouldn’t have to wait for your burst to recharge when you’re ready to use it.”

In game musketeer is called crack shot and gives the pierce and 20% recharge. The recharge doesnt stack with quick burst.

I feel like focusing your build around quickness is just a bad thing to do. Surviving is an issue as mentioned above not because the build is a glass cannon, but because it has very little condition removal. The heal you chose works best when at full Adrenaline, but this build wants you to spend that adrenaline every time you can. Ergo Mending would be a better choice. Other than that it is a dps that shoots bullets that shoots quickness.

Cempa what are you talking about? Mesmers are easy to kill if you use you call to target.

Annoying as hell but if you line up those illusions by LoS you should take em out with an auto attack or two.

How can any of you as Rifle Warriors not take On My Mark.

Thats where a CHUNK of your damage comes from as a Rifle Warrior.
Stacking Might on a Rifle Warrior is a waste of time, because it’ll never get higher than 10 unless you’re buffed by team mates.

Vul > Might

Vul not only helps you out but your team.

Anyone with 15 stacks of Vul is going down, i don’t think any class can do that right now in two button presses, with just 1 class.

Kyokara, the build you posted is great for tournies, as it allows you to assist holding a point or disabling one but I must say this is a pretty balanced spec for a warrior.

Although you have high crit, the damage looks like its just about in the middle.

I think i’ll test this build tonight for tournies with the guild, and give you feedback.

^Thanks, I was aiming for something balanced, it is more my style than glass cannon (I hate dying all the time). Feedback would be great too.

In my build I’ve recently taken out Stomp and replaced it with On My Mark, and took 10 points out of defense and put it into Tactics, for the 1sec immobilize. I didn’t think 1 second of being immobilized would make such a big difference, but it does help, and On My Mark + Rending Strike + #4 causes quite a bit of vuln..classes or players without strong condition removal drop fast. I haven’t noticed a drop in survivability from taking 10 points out of defense (10 pts in tactics is +vitality in any case), but I will keep experimenting with it.

To be honest, the way defense works in this game its not like most people expect it.
GW2 was for PvP was designed for people to die.

Defense doesn’t scale that high, thats why its a comedy of people arguing over having 900 toughness vs 1300 toughness, the difference is very little.

Vitality > Toughness.

I could see why the appeal of 1s immob is useless but with your set up, it be used as a hiccup more to players who are highly dependent on always being on the move, such a thieves or kiting necro’s and etc.

I replaced Stomp with Kick, which made things a little bit more interesting, knocking the foe out of the ring and then following up with a pistol smack. And swapped For great justice for On My Mark.

Going well so far! Just wish i could be more annoying like i am with my Mace Shield / Mace+ Mace build for point control.
