is there any one else out there who feels the roles have been reversed in this game?? what i mean by this is quite simply LIGHT ARMOR classes out surviving/Tanking the heavy armor classes….

i mean my warrior is no pushover at any stage but i cant help but sit back and feel let down when say a NECRO takes 8 guys to drop him in wvw or an ele or even an engineer/thief …..

Has some one smacked ANET with the Backward stick or is it just me…

Very true. It is not the case of them being tankier, but having access to a lot of escape tricks to mitigate damage (ever played “chase the Mesmer” in WvW?) or just total overpowerdness in the case of D/D Elementalists which have everything – tanking, damage, CC, healing and escapes!

I can do thirty Five-Dolyak Arm Curls.

Not that surprised. Warlocks in WoW were very tanky. Confessors in Shadowbane were very tanky. Item Magic in Asheron’s Call. Monks. etc etc.

Warriors have more health than everyone… the problem is players in this game are focusing on berserkers and not PvT like every other class you mentioned with the exception of thieves who die in 3 shots as it is.

Warriors are very squishy because we can’t mitigate damage well. All that Health gives you a false sense of tankyness. An D/D Elementalist that teleports in and out of danger and refills his Health by simply switching to Water attunement has a lot more “real” tankyness in PvP than a Warrior. Same with a Mesmer/Thief that can just Stealth away.

The only classes that we can out-tank are classes without these cheap tricks to mitigate damage such as Rangers and Engineers.

I think so, too.

It bugged me from the beginning, that heavy armor and more HP have little effect on survivabilty.

Dodging, stealth, protection, block, blindness, teleporting, clones, and so on:
Anything else is much better to mitigate damage, than more health or toughness,
which are the primary tools of survival for the warrior.

What the other classes get for the missing toughness and vitality is MUCH
better, which is ridiculous, in my opinion.

I mean, I know how important doging is, but it´s very limited for every class.

Every class can build bunker. A bunker of any class will always be tankier than a non-bunker of any other class. Stands to reason.

Necros are phenomenal bunkers because of the way the class works. Warriors can build bunkers too and they get innately higher armor ratings because of the heavy vs. light armor. Either ways, Warrior is the more offensive of the “heavy” options, with Guardians being the more defensive choice. The “heavy” armor only means you get innately higher damage mitigation, which is always an advantage.

A very small advantage to be sure. Nearly non-existent in the long run, actually. I’d gladly trade down to Light armour for all the Elementalist stuff.

An elementalist isn’t dropping near the damage a warrior is either though. It’s all relative. Equal sustained, limited burst, plentiful counters vs equal sustained with infinitely higher burst with fewer counters with 50% more health and access to the same amount of toughness.

indeed, they advertise the warrior as the “sturdy bodied class” yet its about the only class without the Protection buff and very few ways to get regen, also some of the worst healing skills in the game, compared to ele who have regen, prot and a 15 second CD healing skill which heals for more than our 30 second conditional heal

Sturdy body doesn’t mean it heals well. If you spec for damage output, don’t expect to be able to tank also. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

When did anyone mention wanting survivability while speccing for damage? They mentioned classes that survive better just by the merit of being that class. All higher health pools and toughness starting points do is promote damage builds since the class lacks access to fundamental bunker requirements without sacrificing to acquire them.

Just to be clear I’m talking in a TPvP sense, PvE will allow almost any build to thrive regardless and I don’t really care for Zerg vs Zerg.
