I was wondering how much damage +1000 toughness prevents.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

so, lets say you get hit by evisicerate and you have base armor of 3000.

Axe’s weapon str is 900-1100, lets round it to 1000
Let’s assume the enemy has 2400 power.
Evis lvl3 has coefficient of 3

so without Rousing, you will take

1000 * 2400 * 3 / 3000 = 2400 hit, and with crit dmg of 200% it would be 4800

with rousing,

1000 * 2400 * 3 / 4000 = 1800 hit, and with 200% crit its 3600

How does that compare to regular protection boon?

How does that compare to regular protection boon?

protection is calculated as the last modifier so it reduces 33%. While rousing reduces damage on earlier part of the calculation.

So, considering that the less armor you have the better rousing is, in the sense that if you have 2000 armor, the 1000 from rousing adds 50% damage reduction to your base reduction.

Then again if you have 3000 armor it adds 33%, the same amount as protection. Except protection is counted after Crit dmg, so it decreases more damage than Rousing.

This is, if I’m reading wiki right, wiki is right and I have the right assumptions about the calculations. Hopefully this clears some stuff.
