Shield Rework Suggestion
Thoughts? It’s insane.
What Shield needs is a small range increase on Shield Bash and Shield Stance CD being lowered by 5 seconds or so. I just don’t think Engies should have a better block on their kit than a kitten Warrior holding a big shield.
I wouldn’t mind Shield Stance being a Taunt, but alas.
I find shield to be pretty great as is, tbh, and not really in need of a rework and certainly not a buff. The shield trait is pretty amazing.
I wish there weren’t so many unblockable attacks to get through the little respite we get from shield stance, but still….

I agree w/ Choppy. Shield is pretty sweet as-is.
I think there’s plenty of better targets for improvements – War Horn, OH Axe, OH Mace, Rifle, etc.
i think both warrior shield skills 4 and 5 are fine.
like YuiRS.8129 have said, a range increase on #4 shield bash and recharge time reduction of 5 seconds on #5 shield stance would be nice enough.
For pvp, sure the shield is fine. For PvE shield’s pretty bad. (Most of the time if only because you don’t need to tank.)
Though making warrior charges player controlled may help with you know, charges missing all the time. ( We’re only waiting for a fix for rush since 3 years after all …)
Well these were made for fun, mostly. I really don’t expect shield to change, though I really miss something with regards to intimidating the enemy by slamming your weapon on your shield. This feels very warrior-like to me and imagine how fun would it be having in the game?
Also I kinda am serious with the first suggestion though. I think shield charge would be amazing if it were controlled by the player. 1s Super Speed would allow us just that.
The shield is decent but not great. It is extremely boring compared to other skills the warrior gets and we accept it because we are used to it as warriors. This #4 idea sounds like it could be a lot of fun and would take a skill with an active trigger over mediocre fire and forget skills any day.
Also guardian and Engineer both have skills that can trigger after use on shield so i can see where this idea is coming from . I LIKE IT
Actually when traited, shield is pretty great for pve too. It reflects projectiles, and stacks might with every block. I ran through a mob in Twilight Arbor and came out the other side, unscathed, with 12 stacks of might. Also shield bash does good damage and is an interrupt (on those who can be interrupted).
I think both of the shield skills are fine as they are and don’t need to be redesigned. They could be improved though.
For Shield Bash, I’d like a much longer range with maybe an evade or blocks during the animation because you’re running at high speed with your shield raised.
Also, if it’s OK for revenants to get a 2-second infinite block on a 15 second cooldown with off-hand sword on what’s designed to be an offensive weapon, I think it’s reasonable for Shield Block to get its cooldown reduced to a 20 seconds cooldown on a 3-second infinite block, especially since Engineers already have that on their kit. It’s a bit stupid that a gear shield is better than a real shield.
Guardian shields, on the other hand, need a full redesign… Even though I’m a defensive style of player I prefer playing a defense warrior because I love shields and warriors have actual shield skills and can actually block with it. Apparently, blocking with a shield is not obvious to whoever designed Guardian weapon skills.

If they tweaked shield skill #4’s dash range to be like the EOTM Kodan Bear vet’s one I would be the happiest person. Agreed with others though, shield atm is pretty good as it is. Just that short dash distance though…. Wish it could have a slight increase or break immobilize?
I also think that shield is fine right now. A bit of CD reduction or range on shield bash could be great but I’m happy with it as it is.
The combination of both shield trait was the buff it needed.

Doesn’t it count as a mobility skill? Thought there was a trait for that Warriors’ Sprint? I can’t remember off top of my head if this is true or not.

Warrior’s Sprint does indeed affect shield bash.
As far as buffing the shield, I think it is fine the way it is but could use some cool down/ range tweaking. Maybe change shield bash from a 450 range to 600 (traited), and make traited shield stance a 20 second cooldown (down from 24) especially since on my engineer a traited tool kit has a 3 second block on a 16 second cooldown albeit without a reflect.

Shield bash could benefit from more targets affected.
Maybe 1sec kd to foes in your way to targeted foe.
Or perhaps stun main target but also daze +2 foes standing nearby.
Inflict weakness.
Briefly block attacks incoming from the direction you are charging.
+1sec stun against moving,crippled,immobilized,chilled targets.
Lots of possible buffs. Not sure any are needed though.
