Shield builds?
Shields can be used offensively. In sPVP theyre mainly used to stun lock the enemy while you kill them. Shield bash is a great skill imho. The other skill shield stance is nice as well and if you trait it with missile deflection it’s really funny.
oh, nice xD though I forgot to mention I mainly pve >.>
well…you could use runes of the guardian with shield and build up a decent amount of burn…though there are better options ofc, but that’s just something for a possible shield build IF you really wanted to…
I use my own custom build as a warrior 30/0/20/20/0 really strong deals damage. The slot skills are bulls charge stomp signet of the dolyak and then signet of rage. It works for me and my guild (ht) for the weapons it is great sword and hammer for mobility and power stuns, fire sigils on weapons and runes of fighter on armour. For the trait tree you can choose what you want but I guaranty you will probably choose the same. I will call the build beserker if it is not already made. Hope this helped :p
Forgot to add the heal Witch is healing surge :p

Uhh..I was asking about using shields, and weather or not I can use it offensively in pve. I do like the guardian idea, but im not sure how costly it might be xD
I use Sword/Shield as my main weapon set in PvE. It’s very, very versatile; you get 2 leaps to trigger auras for yourself (more useful in dungeons, since Warriors really have difficulty setting up combo fields for themselves), snares to keep enemies under control, an interrupt for special situations (I usually also slot Kick or Stomp for an extra CC), and a decently long block skill for emergency “Oh kitten ” moments.
Hi,
Like any other weapon, the shield is pretty good, provided you take advantage of its ability. Let’s see:
- Shield Bash gives you a Leap. The Leap is interesting because it can provide you with additional buffs (blindness, chaos armor, fire armor, frost armor, retaliation, dazing strike, weakness, stealth and healing), if played in a combo field. Shield Bash also gives you a Stun. The Stun is great, because it provides you with an interrupt, useful on controllable mobs which have strong attacks, with lengthy cinematic. As a warrior, interrupts may also apply confusion if you trait “Distracting Strikes”, although the applied confusion becomes significant mainly in a condition damage build. Finally, the Stun effect can be enhanced using “Unsuspecting Foe”, to increase your critical chance by 50% (although the raw 1s, if not improved, might be too less to benefit from it).
- Shield Stance blocks attacks during 3 seconds. It is therefore fantastic to either take aggro or temporize in dangerous situations. Interestingly, “Missile Deflection” lets you send back physical projectiles, which can be useful against certain ranged mobs (such as Hunters). “Mighty Defenses” gives you might each time you block, useful against mobs which attack in rapid succession (such as Berserkers).
“Shield Master” gives you toughness and reduce recharge time on skills.
With all that, you should be able to make a build that makes your shield shine. In WvW, I play a condition/confusion build with a shield, using most aforementioned enhancements, and find it pretty effective.
