Sigil Procs on Offhand Weapons

Sigil Procs on Offhand Weapons

This is a general question, but since I am playing a warrior it seemed like this was a good place to ask given the depth of knowledge you all seem to have.

I am a newly christened 80 PVE warrior. My primary set of weapons is sword+axe. The axe (my offhand) has Superior Sigil of Blood on it. It actually came with it from the TP, so I don’t feel too bad, but the question is:

With a crit-based sigil like Blood’s life-steal: will it trigger regularly when it is on an off-hand weapon, or does the off-hand weapon only theoretically strike when you use skill 4 or 5?

Notes:
- I have checked the general forums, guildwars2guru, the GW2 wiki, stackexchange, etc. and the information I see is conflicting or inconclusive.
- Some of the theory I have seen states that crit-based sigil procs work regardless of which weapon they are on.
- I run a sigil-build with regeneration passive, so seeing green numbers while fighting is pretty normal for me. It is difficult to distinguish the numbers for myself given standard sigil regneration, regeneration from adrenal health, and regeneration from Dogged March.
- My main-hand weapon (sword) is running Superior Sigil of Bloodlust for the power boost. This predates the axe and Sigil of Blood in question.

Thanks in advance!

Sigils will proc regardless of which weapon it’s on.

On crit sigils: On crit sigils share a cooldown with weapon swap sigils. They activate regardless of offhand or main hand if their 30% chance happens on a crit so will they. They don’t care which hand they’re in. They stack multiplicatively so 30%+30% =/= 60% but about 42%. They seem to carry over when transformed.

On swap: happen every time a “swap” is detected meaning coming out of transformations WILL cause them to happen. They share a cooldown with on crit. They have no stacking. If you have an on crit they will wait the whole 10 seconds if the on crit happens.

Always on: Always so long as you’re on that weapon set. This means they carry over in transformations and when holding bundles.

Useless sigils (broken): The sigil of blood (results show it proc about 15% of the time instead of 30% and has the annoying habit of waiting about 6 seconds instead of 2-3). Air (just doesn’t do the damage it should). Energy (Idk if this one’s fixed but only sometimes will it actually work).

Hope this helps!

my advice for your new level 80 warrior (welcome to the club btw) is to get an on swap sigil and put it on one of your weapons. sigil of hydromancy or sigil of geomancy are great.

a lot of people agree that the 15 point trait [fast hands] is practically a must, if you put it on one of your weapons then every time you switch back to that weapon it will be available and proc for you. (basically turning your weapon swap into an attack)

also along that same note. rebind your weapon swap to a comfortable key. warriors are all about swapping weapons, you absolutely cannot get the most out of your warrior without regularly swapping weapons.

a good example of this is a condition warrior, you can hit your target with [pin down] from the longbow for 6 stacks of bleed (18 seconds) roll into them and swap weapons hitting them with [reckless dodge] if you have it and the geomancy proc [3 stacks of bleed 10 seconds) and then swing with your new weapon set for a guaranteed 9 stacks of bleed with a good duration almost instantly.

I can try the weapon swap, but I am profoundly lazy. I’ll give it a shot though!

Thanks for the confirmation on the off-hand use of Blood. I didn’t know that it was broken though… I might have to look into something else instead. I do love having Bloodlust just for the 250 power while completing maps.
