So how are u liking the class?
Greatsword/Axes are fun, rifles seem to be good for those fights where you dont want to get to close.
Interested to know what kind of builds people are using and why
I’m loving the Warriors! The only problem I have with them though is the Greatsword’s Hundred Blades being a stationary cast. Makes the Greatsword much less unappealing for me. Other than that, freakin’ awesome.

Yea, it does WAYYY more damage than our finisher ability and you have to sit someone still for 5 seconds to use it. Kinda awkward design imo
I love it. I used to play Sword/Axe Rifle in a bleeding heavy build but now I switched over to a more of a direct damage heavy build with Axe/Axe and a Rifle. I love the way how I can switch between solo and group play by just changing 2 skills and 3 Major Traits.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
I love hundred blades, while leveling you just have to do the right pull and you’ll be able to snowball a great number of enemies with it
I like greatsword + longbow (rifle is great too). Funniest class I’ve played in GW2!
I am loving warrior, except it feels like there is only one viable build for them, with that being Power/Precision/Crit Damage. Everything else seems like your losing too much to match it.
Ive tried condition swords, sword/shield toughness, vitality builds, but it honestly feels like i an not as useful to a group if I’m not hitting 15k crits with a hundred blades.
Warrior is great in pve but in pvp its questionable. Im starting to find out pvp in this game is a shooting match so stand back with the crowd and fire away, that sums it up. The second you step away from the crowd in the wrong direction your going to be hosed down in 5 seconds. I suppose this describes WvW in the smaller pvp matches I can see going melee being advantageous.
GS is just amazing for DEs and Leveling, in dungeons I’ve found that the Sword / Axe combo | Longbow, is just devastating.
Let the world hear these words once more
“Save us, oh lord, from the wrath of the Norsemen”
I love it. Just one thing that bothers me. Does it just feel like or do our ranged weapons (rifle and bow) have an extremly little range compared to other classes? Defending a castle in WvWvW just sucks with this range.
I think that we have like 1500 range with some skills and the lowest range one was 900 if I recall correctly.

Hundred Blades definitely feels like the core of the build. I think I’m ok that it requires you to be still or it would just be OP. I feel like Greatsword is the obvious melee weapon. I wish the other weapons were equally viable but for what you lose in dps it doesn’t seem worth it to use other builds regularly.
I mainly use dual axes and mix up the 2nd slot with either rifle or GS (sometimes sword/shield depending on what I’m doing).
I do like my warrior although lately I’ve been losing a bit of interest due to the lack of new abilities/new look. I’m tired of running around in my lame chainmail skirt and shirt! When do you pick up plate armor?

The armor starts to look amazing around level 70. Before that though, nearly every armor type in the game only has a few visual variants before level 70.

Oh bummer…I’m only lvl 27
yeah i know that feeling but more like because i don’t really upgrade armor until my bags get full at around level 40 i still had not replaced some level 20 gloves, but weapons i do pay attention to more and try and upgrade to the best for the level as far as pvp goes i feel that specing into the root on slow with greatsword is pretty awesome throw sword it slows and roots for a second with bolas to get a longer root is nice. from there its just frenzy+signet of rage+arcing slice into a hundred blades will usually take down anybody lower than 50%. but this is from my little experience in pvp so can’t really say yet how this will fare later
It’s decent. Only thing is there’s very, very little to do to change things up at 80 (nearly there right now.)
By then you’ve experimented with probably every weapon combo and just greatsword through everything because it takes the least time. I feel like the other weapons need not necessarily a buff… but a mechanic adjustment to make them as desirable.
so much fun. greatsword is the best for me, but i love the hammer and mace/shield as well.

That’s is unfortunate to hear. Does it feel like the class has become “old” or “predictable” ?
Love the class. I play with longbow/rifle and have had really good success with it.

Eh, I think it’s probably fine it’s just I’ve been on this one character mostly since launch and starting to work on some others will be nice. I do need some kind of break from doing the same weps over and over.
I really like it. Using sword/board and longbow. It gives a ton of utility, survivability and stacks tons of bleeds. Also the ability to generate my own fire combos or leave fire fields in WvW is a huge plus.
The downside of this build is a lack of adrenaline, so berserker stance becomes your best friend.

Berserker stance in my best friend even in dw axes builds where adrenaline is less of an issue
Keep going back to the Greatsword every time I range from it.
I’ve been having some fun with either axe/mace or sword/mace and Hammer as my secondary. I like the versatility of axe/sword in main hand and the mace in the secondary gives armor breaking and a group knockdown.
I love the Hammer as a backup against way to many foes or enemies with a lot of armor. Just smashes straight through them.
I’m enjoying it quite a bit overall. I feel durable in pve with a good amount of toughness/vitality and the ability to switch to a shield when needed. I don’t feel like I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve in difficult situations because the warrior is a pretty straightforward profession which is fair enough. In pvp I feel strong when frenzy is available to use and pretty weak when it’s on cooldown. If frenzy and my other utility skills are on CD, I feel like the best option is often switching to a shield or kiting until my skills are ready again. I feel like some of the weapon sets are underwhelming and borderline useless as well as a couple of the skills. Traits overall feel fine, but there are a few useless ones in there as well.
After trying every class to at least level 20, I always return to my warrior (76 now). There just isn’t a class as well rounded and fluid to play as the warrior imo. Only other class thats close is d/d sb thief which I’ll prolly level up next. Problem with thief though is the sb really does suck damage and range wise. I plan on hitting WvW alot in the near furture and don’t see thief near as useful as warrior…not that i’m complaining…WARRIOR ROCKS!
Loving the class so far…I do feel we need a little love for tPvP viable builds but that being said I am well aware not every build has really been discovered by the masses yet. As for some tips.
This first one is regarding just a general reminder to utilize your minor traits within a traitline…specifically looking at the strength trait line for warriors.

This next one is a nifty occurence for offhand axe and dodging…now I have submitted a bug report about 7-10 days ago regarding this just to make sure I’m unsure whether it is infact intentional but none the less feel free to check it out.

I love it so far. But I am lvl 42 though. I tested many classes (Ranger, Thief, Guardian, Ele)
Ranger is fun and versatile too but the pet is annoying and traps are not as useful as I thought (as a marksman) AOE capability is limited too (in low level). Thief is very squishy. I wanted to play him as a Ranged Thief but Dualpistols doesnt seem to do much damage. Guardian is a mess. The fun Weapons have long CDs on their basic skills and talents seem very aimless to me. Ele is fun but very squishy and you have to swap attunments often to be effectiv which kind of annoys me after some time. But the Warrior is the most fun because he is the most versatile with short cooldowns and nice utility.
Tanky, burst melee DPS, bleeding DPS, Conditions with Bow, or sniper.
Very different playstyles and builts and nice Weaponskills with short or OK CD time.
I had some fun with GS for a while but it got boring soon. Right now I play dual Axe with a defensive burst built. Its really nice to pull up to 5 mobs, buff with shouts and aoe them down.

In PvE it’s ok, and I enjoy it enough.
However my main focus/desire is TPvP and I feel like the warrior is just a detriment to any serious TPvP team comp. There just seems to be this overall “meh” design to the warrior and very few group synergies/utilities to bring to the match.
It’s not so much a buff/nerf issue as a restructuring I feel that’s needed.
Examples:
Make HB the GS burst skill and put the current burst skill in our 2-attack slot, perhaps with a different benefit (adding crit% feels redundant on a GS build, we’re already rocking a passive crit of between 40-60%+ anyways.)
Our shield cooldowns are much too long, even/especially when traited. It’s mostly used as a stall until your real weapons CD’s are up so you can swap back. Compared to the guardian shield abilities there’s no real utility, just block/stall for 3 seconds. Nothing changes in the fight, it’s just a delay of the inevitable. The way they implemented the mace/sword block mechanic is so much more reactionary, responsive and involved. Wish our shield block did something similar.
Sword feels lacking. Would like to see the cripple tied to our savage leap (2) and some other ability in the #3 slot. An evading attack worthy of a swordsman (see thief sword/dagger ability #3 for example) would fit the feel and give us something other than auto attacks to use. Along with the shield changes we might actually see some viable sword’n’board warrior build(s).
The self-root on the hammer 3 and 4 abilities should go. It’s already the slowest attacking weapon we have (besides the mace finisher in the auto attack chain, that thing takes weeks) and self-rooting makes using those abilities pretty counter-productive and often are better left ignored.
The “utility” skills seem pretty blah for the most part. CD’s are too long on some, very singular natured effects (see guardian shouts vs warrior shouts for example).
Banners I feel should act like engineer kits in a way. They shouldn’t have a time limit and it should encourage active use of them between planting them to attack, then grabbing them to use an effect or the charge/knockback, planting in a new spot to benefit the group, etc. Just not worth the effort really when they’re going to disappear on you and go on CD anyways.
Healing is too lackluster on our shouts/banner regen to be worth the heavy traiting for them. To see even marginal output you have to gear completely for healing, kittening your overall combat output and only receiving a 2k heal or 130 regen tick. The sacrifice just isn’t worth it in the long run.
Our evasion/mitigation seems extremely kittened in the long run. On almost every other class I can spec into perma-vigor or reduce my dodge cost, or my attacks evade WHILE dealing damage. Many times both. Warriors almost have to run with a set “utility” skill selection of Endure pain, Frenzy (to get any kind of meaningful burst), and either stability or bullsrush. Our core mechanics are so lacking that we don’t have much room for deviation in our utility skills making us feel like a complete class in TPvP.
Etc.
Mind you again this is from a TPvP perspective. I love my warrior, in spirit, and I would love to play my warrior. However for any role I would try to spec him into I can get higher output in that role from another class by far. Melee dps? Thief. Bunker/support? Guardian/Engi/Ele. Ranged damage? Engi/Ranger. Condi build? Any other class, warrior bleeds are too easily removed and apply too slowly to be of any use. Just be a ranger/thief/engi for instance.
I dunno man. I really want to like warriors but on paper they’re just outclassed by everyone else in competitive pvp.

FOR ME
It feels as though hammer is the ONLY way to go. Amazing stuns and AoE, I almost never get downed, and never defeated! Hammer and longbow are definately the way to go, for me at least
(this is PvE)
It’s weird that no one mentions warhorn. Not sexy, I know. Quick Breathing purges conditions and turns them into boons – so every 16 seconds you get two purges and free boons, 10 seconds of quickness and vigor and AE weakness. Then take Empowered for bonus damage for each boon. I run sword/horn, lots of bleeds and mobility and solid damage.
I agree with the all-signet snickering – you give up way too much utility for a measly +40 precision per slot. At this point, everyone in PvP knows how to deal with a HB warrior, maybe it’s time to try something different.
Kastigir 80 Guardian
Ascalon’s Requiem [END] – Blackgate
The really funny thing about signets is you can still run defensive stats and enjoy the bonus critical rate. That and signet of fury and signet of stamina are amazing. Apparently people forget that you can balance stats.
I love warrior, and like the fact that they are a simple, straightforward profession with a lot of interesting options for builds. Others may have flare and flashy attacks, but a warrior needs no such trickery.
Signets aren’t simply worth it, even with faster recharge and +40 precision. You’re just giving up too much on utility skills, which can be way more useful. People tend to forget there’s utility skills other than signets.
Love it! So much so that I am building a second Warrior to level. I really wanted to play Longbow but it wasn’t synergizing right with the rest of what I wanted to be able to do.
So I am going to build my second warrior focused around the long bow, I’ve got it pretty well theory crafted and should be dumping fire fields like nobodies business if it works like it does in my head.
Trait lines are probably one of the most ingenius aspects of this games. It allows for amazing customization within classes versus other games where I’ve seen classes stuck with one build, no matter what the weapon selected.
I really like it, just because of the weapon choices you can make.
I’ve gone from using a GS/rifle, to a GS/bow to rifle/sword n’ board to now using mace-sword/rifle. With loads of other combos in between, it’s great! By the time you’re sick of a certain set up, you got many, many more to choose from! <3 it
I am always a warrior. I do like this.
