One handed sword → Greatsword
One handed Axe → Greataxe
One handed mace → Hammer
One handed spear → Polearms

I genuinely believe land-based Spears would be a wonderful addition to the game.

For Warriors it could be melee, for Guardians a ranged thrown weapon akin to the Paragon from GW1 (since the class is partly based on them, of course), and for Rangers…I don’t know…a CC melee weapon perhaps, dragging enemies down with a net and skewering them, and a cone sweep knockdown?

Spear master race

1. Spear Thrust: Pierce your enemy with your spear and cause Vulnerability.

2. Spear Frenzy: Attack the foes in front of you with a serie of strikes.

3. Phalanx Formation: You move 66% slower but gain protection.

Remove the 3rd and put instead :

1a. Stab your foe with your spear.
1b. Remove your spear from your target. (Vulnerability, Cripple or Bleeding ?)
1c. Stab your target with a final hit (+50% dmg on foes <30% life)

2. Your skill is good

3. Battle javelin : Throw your spear and Immobilize the target(s) for 2s.

What about offhand Net now ? Imma feeling a bit Retiarius !

I fully support anything that gives us a land spear!
And Arena Net actually makes different attack animations for different weapons (vs swinging everything the same way as a sword like in many other games) so we could potentially get some really good looking spear combat.

And I’ve always thought it would be cool to have an ability where you throw your spear, knocking down your opponent. Since.. ya know, having a large heavy spear chucked at you would probably knock you over lol.

This must remain bumped until implemented.

I’m not too sure it’ll be implemented exactly the way that people want it to be, but I would fully expect this option to become available once we get to Elona. The Paragon class in GW1 was a Javelin-using ranged support character, and we may very well see warriors get access to elements of their combat style once we get there. It might be a ways off, and it’s not really full-on “spear”, but even Paragons had some melee range javelin abilities, so I would count on something like that for warriors in the future.
