Spellbreaker.. Cheapest/boring elite?
It really feels like this spec is made in 1 day.. the last day.
Just look at the amount of skills and new mechanic stuff other classes get… i really am disappointed.
Maby this spec will be nice in pvp, but for me i looks just very boring.
I agree. damage is too low on auto-attack, easily interrupted elite and heal, bladestorm doesn’t really do any good damage. So far, Axe auto-attack>spellbreaker.
I guess it has tricks to outplay, but I am not convinced
Honestly the worst part of SB is limiting adrenaline to 1.
That’s sheer stupidity design-wise. Imagine if the other new specs got limited to 1/3 of their spec mechanics. Thiefs immediately get cut down to 1/3 init if they’re spec’d deadeye. Guardian cut down to only one virtue instead of 3, Engineer only gets 1 toolbelt skill, etc.

Compare it to guardian which gets what, 19 new skills not even including weapon?

Count it, even with the double dagger we got the least amount of skills added for us, tied with Rev and Necro. Also not counting auto attack chains.

second time in row,is warrior spec voted as worst on reedit,i dont even know what they doing anymore….,every single utility useless in pve,one is usable in pvp. all animations are reused and i allmost cryed when i seen guardians new skills,20+ with new animations and utility which you can ALL USE AT SAME TIME 3X IN ROW HEAL/ELITE INCLUDED. after all these nerfs,this was one thing,they could make right…
Agreed, the spec is underwhelming and far too niche. WvW zerg seems to be the only place it’ll shine since it lacks enough of mainstream strengths – and because it causes us to lose one of Strength/Defense/Discipline without making up for the loss.
It doesn’t appeal to me specifically. Its a support spec…no denying that. Its like being the healer in a party or something. I mean the auto attack is only for 2 targets….and ur gonna be using this attack alot if you use the dagger/dagger. So its not made for my style of gameplay, fair enough. I found the damage to be fine, its a good middle ground for what it does do as a spec…so im fine with it as is, can be rather powerful.
I like the heal it gives, I think its great since it clears all your conditions and gives a sizeable heal buff (unlike mending). And having a complete condition clear is something the new spec really needs from my gametime….so its a good heal where I’m standing.
My complaints:
-very little chase ability…..that 2 ability honestly seems half as effective as sword 2 is when it comes to catching enemies. And that’s it! That’s all you got with the exception of the new utility skill that grants 5s superspeed and 5s resisitance (which might i add has a rather long cd on it), which honestly seems pretty necessary if you yourself are doing the chasing. dagger dagger….all the attacks (1-5 + f1) are very short ranged, making it seems more like a support brawler you take in a pub fight. whereas the utility/cast skills are more aoe like in nature, just I want my warrior with his weapons to be cleaving multiple people in half with a huge sword is all (berserk style) lol not casting magic to do so.
(edit I forgot to try the tether thing, so I guess that will fix my problems)
-dagger dagger animations don’t feel warrior like….I feel like a magic caster who rides a camel around.
-The skills very much mimick existing skills in the game, as people have alrdy mentioned (very disgusting imo). dagger is just thief ripoff….infact entire spec feels like a thief minus the stealth, dodges, and high dmg lol.
-the ELITE skill is STUPIDLy op. It says that projectiles entering are destroyed…..it should say “all projectiles in the aoe are destroyed”. There is no counterplay against this skill. YOu fight back using melee/aoe or you are in real trouble. Its ‘only’ 10 targets people say. Well its literally a HUGE guardian bubble that will negate 80 players projectile attacks……which is NOT something we need more of, especially not on THIS HUGE SCALE. It needs to be changed to projectiles can be fired from inside of it (as it should based on what the tooltip says already. This ability needs to have counterplay! its that simple!
-f2 is just….boring. I get the idea, and appreciate the style of it, just it doesnt really trench itself in counterplay as well as it should. It’ll help you flagstomp with that stability/block and has other uses like that….but it needs something else ontop of all that. I don’t see it doing much in the other weapon. I can’t see anyone taking this spec without the dagger/dagger in one weapon slot, and I can’t see anyone taking rifle either with this.
-berserker seems to be geared exclusively for our condi warriors now. There is no condi synergy to be found on our new spec, its for power warriors clear and simple.
So I won’t be using the spec….clear as day I won’t be using. Will be a great blob build for wvsw no doubt! I can see people just spamming 1, 5, and all their utility skills as they mow people down. But that bores the kitten out of me.

If they make spellbreaker not just remove others boon but steal boons
And brush skill have a extra damage base on numbers of boons on spell breaker,

Probably time to re-roll to a different class soon. I just don’t understand why warrior gets constantly kitten on.
I still enjoy playing warrior though, just wish it would get some more love. It’s like the Barbarian of D3 or something.

This elite spec is the most disappointing to me. No real new class mechanic (just a block lol?) and the skills are too simple and everything is too much focused towards removing boons.

4 new skills and a bunch of passive traits. Yes, it doesn’t take time or rocket science to understand or master it. It plays almost exactly the same as a regular power core warrior.

Stange… I could’ve sworn that I have already read something like this in most of the other profession sub-forums.
What i’d like to note is how many say Deadeye is not great pvp spec compared to Daredevil, due to prone and whatnot, but even if it’s damage is overtuned, try fighting a deadeye on spellbreaker, you will NEVER catch it even with bull’s charge and the new superspeed thing.
Even if you are able to avoid his damage with shield and dagger OH 5 skill, and survive his damage, you will be unable to stay on target for more than half a second maybe if he makes a mistake.
My point being, a comparetively mediocre pvp spec of thief – if you exclude the damage – still can not even be touched by a -pvp centric- spec like spellbreaker.
For PVP, Spellbreaker, this scene we have this weekend – it reminds me HOT pre-release where berserker was the “meh” elite, while dragonhunters were kittening kitten up with those true shots. It bodes ill.
I’m extremely disappointed. Most elites gets new Fkeys F1-2-3-4, while warriors stays at 2. Also, most elites has skills within skills, like the Firebrand tomes, soulbeast every pets give different Fkeys, holosmith, deadeye sniping mode, etc.
I understand warrior was always an easy class to get into, but this is getting ridiculous. I predict that the spell breaker will do ok at first in pvp. Once people masters their elites, spell breaker will end up in the bottom of the barrel real quick. I also can’t see this elite being meta in pve.
The only unique dagger skill is #5, which looks fantastic. The rest are all copypasted from Theif. The most disappointing thing though is when I used the burst skill and saw it was a plain normal looking Heartseeker… It really needs the daggers to be better personalized to them. I tried all the elite specs out and this one is dead last on my fun/interest scale just from how plain it is. I think it needs the treatment Daredevil got when no one liked it’s plain staff animations.

Now now don’t be too greedy. We got 2 weapons instead of just 1. They could have given us Dagger Mainhand and call it a day, but instead they give us Dagger Offhand too.
Sure Spellbreaker has faults, but I do not think the “lack of new skills” is one.
One can be forgiven to think that way though. Skills 1-4 for dual daggers may seem uninteresting and 2 being so similar to f1..
I don’t think the amount of skills is the problem but their function.
If we wanted a daze we can use mace. If we wanted mobility use sword for leap.
Instead they give us that, which is a mix of both and worse at both aspects.
Skill 5 is great though idd. Both in looks and effect. I’d love to see a bigger channeling duration on it.

In WvW I am finding it is extremely strong in small scale. We were dueling it for hours and it was tearing through builds. Featherfoot Grace is strong. Sight Beyond Sight was also working well with a no Precision build that stacked Power, Ferocity and Toughness/Vit. Bit clunky but I think that could be worked out with DD Runes.
Revenge Counter was melting small groups with condi builds in the mix all night long.

Spellbreaker doesn’t have any useful range and its team synergy isn’t very high. While the Warrior is a natural bunker of sorts seems any roll it could play in the frontline is better served with more specialist rolls.
You can make a strong argument that it isn’t a particularly good in small crews either. Nothing I have seen in the preview leads me to believe that a four man crew is going to switch off of Tempest, DH, Necro and some other utility/DPS class such as Rev or another DH/Necro.
In duels and roaming, I do find it a lot of fun but as some noted above interrupts are a serious weakness. Our int builds on the thief and mes are tearing it apart. Stun lock warrior builds in duels were also a problem. We have to use an offhand mobility weapon to keep strafing classes from being a serious problem. However, anything boon driven gets carved up particularly bunker builds. This thing is a small scale can opener able to drop a DH or Tempest fast… well fast for a bunker build.
Those are my first impressions and can certainly change as people find new/better ways to optimize the line.
