Warriors don’t have a problem with retaliation since they got no fast-hitting attacks and high hp-pool to offset the damage. No wonder you can’t see just how powerful retal is.

Dual shot, fan of fire, axe chain, whirling axe, hb, mariners frenzy, repeating shot, tsunami slash, volley, split shot, tremor, whirlwind attack, dual strike, combustive shot.

Anything else?

You lost me on the “you deliver a critical melee hit”

I was expecting something more original than yet another “when you crit” effect.

If it is a grandmaster major trait in the defense line it should be defensive (protection was nice) and trigger on a OMG! situation, not when you are killing a bunny.

Hey, Why not offer your own?

Its nice to be a critic, but when your not giving me any juice it just seems like your downing me.

You are right, but I didn’t give it much thought.

If I have to start thinking of something for 30 defense, I would go with something like:

a) damage reduced by adrenaline 3%, 6% and 9% or 4%, 8% and 12% (we have crit, damage, heal but no mitigation).

b) Using burst skills triggers protection for 5 seconds or Aegis for 10.

This will improve the defense line using our class mechanic. Any of those would be a nice addition to our set up.

Flurry.

And personally I would feel like adding sword autoattack to that list. While it has only 3 attacks, it’s still faster than any of our other chains. In fact, considering the length of Triple Chop, you can almost get off 2 rotations of the sword autoattack in the time it takes for 1 rotation of the axe autoattack.

b) Using burst skills triggers protection for 5 seconds or Aegis for 10.

The first one, my friend, is an extremely bad idea. With 30 into Discipline, you’re guaranteed 1 burst every 7.75 seconds. That would amount to 65% uptime on Protection with no boon duration. And getting it up from there to 100% wouldn’t be much of an effort.

Heck, as someone running Axe MH with Furious and Sharpened Axes, I can literally fill up adrenaline from 0 to max in about 4 seconds. And I’m running 0/30/20/0/20.

Make it 3 seconds, like I said I didn’t thought much of it. Not doing math here, merely speaking conceptually what I think it would be a good addition for the warrior defense line.

If you offer something, offer a way to improve the skill, not down my way.

First I offered some advice on improving the skill, passive low-key retal.

Then I (not-so) subtly offered you some advice about you going wild with a new buff-warrior thread every other day.

What else do you want here? Fashion advice? Lime green mixed with royal purple. Financial advice? Pyramid Shemes and risky hedge funds. An MVP this upcoming season? Mark Sanchez, of course. Dating advice? Settle for someone with a pulse.

Aaaand I’m all out of sarcasm for today

LOL

Daecollo has horrible ideas and really can’t be taken seriously until he realizes just how his “buffs” are so far from reality and what they would do to the game would negitively impact it to such an extent that there would be 1 class to rule them all.

How about my idea from a while back instead?

Defensive Bursts: Gain Protection for 1.5 seconds per adrenal bar whenever you use a burst skill

This opens up new possibilities for bunker builds, without giving it baseline to Warriors.

You’ll see a new bunker build too. Instead of just Defense/Tactics, you’ll see Defense/Discipline builds, going for boon duration and runes, busting often and getting protection uptime around 45%.

Warriors who go only Defense, and then Strength or Arms can probably maintain only about 20% uptime on average.

You’d also be losing out on Defy Pain, which I feel is a fair tradeoff.

Actually, considering that we have a baseline cooldown of 10s and it would be kitten if you bursted at 3 bars, we’d be talking base uptime for 45%, not top uptime.

Going from that, 30 into Discipline would get you a cooldown of 7.75s for 58% uptime. Throw in the remaining 10 points into Tactics and you’re looking at 63%.

Now then, if you add runes, you can get up to +30% boon duration and +20% Protection duration. Now we’re looking at 92% uptime. Throw in Chocolate Omnomberry Cream and it’s 104%.

You have to take the current meta into account. Pretty much everyone is already running 20 in Defense for Cleansing Ire and at least 15 in Discipline. Considering that we’re talking bursts, most people would see the tremendous potential and go for x/x/30/x/30 type builds for all the protection uptime, especially since 30 into Discipline gets you Sharpened Axes, Fast Hands and Versatile Rage.

Last but not the least, you have to look at the other two classes notorious for Protection: Ele and Guardian. They both have 10800 hp. That’s just about half of what we have. That matters, because in terms of effective HP, it means that the same uptime of Protection on a Warrior is 80% more effective than it’s on a Guardian or an Ele.
