Stability from Battle Standard: just 3 seconds?
It sounds like this could be a bug, in which case, id report it in game. If its intended, then what the heck are arena net thinking. 3 seconds of stability wouldn’t make up for the total damage lost by a player having to pick up the banner and use an ability, just to drop it down again.
During most of beta, the Battle Standard would “pulse” three seconds of Stability to all nearby allies, every 3 seconds.
Currently, the Battle Standard gives three seconds of Stability when the banner is planted – it then doesn’t do so again unless you pick it up and use one of the special abilities.
Is this intended?
I was wondering this as well. However then i thought the banner would be pretty OP allowing consistent cc immunity, especially because the banner lasts a long time.
I think the change was welcome. You need to remember the banner grants fury to all allies nearby aswell as might. Apply in WvW and the banner exapansion tactic and you could have a critting murderhouse zerg.
It’s a bug. They changed the buff from Stability to Swiftness but didn’t update the text.
You can, however, pick up the banner and use one of the abilities to pbaoe buff stability.
I tought it was a bug: swiftness is pretty useless

Besides that, the range is the worst joke ever.
The even bigger joke is that you can pick it up and with a self rooting long casting animation, you can give your team three more seconds of stability. Huzzah!
So, wow, they removed the ticking stability (but gave one first tick of stability) and made subsequent ticks give swiftness, with no documentation. kitten
It’s ok to feel a bit negative as Stability from Battle Standard was THE kitten!! However..realize that they are stripping stability across the board. Most notably, the Guardian’s tomes both have had their stability removed and replaced with other boons. They’re still the best at providing team stability though (Stand Your Ground + Hallowed Ground).
Engineer’s juggernaut trait also no longer grants them stability when using flamethrower, instead they gain might every 15s.
Elementalists can grant their allies stability for 2s whenever they attune to earth, however this is a Grandmaster trait.
Necromancers also had their Foot in the Grave trait reduced from always to 3s when entering Death Shroud. It’s also a grandmaster trait AND the slap in the face is that Necromancers can’t res/stomp people while in Death Shroud.
Here’s hoping they realize what they did by making everyone pack Guardians for stability and perhaps restore stability to more classes.

What is it, a 240 seconds cooldown? It should be powerfull. Currently we haven’t got any good elite. The Signet of Rage is all I see people going with. Rampager is screwed when they remove your stability. Banner gives mediocre buffs.
The worst thing is that this immovable object (unless you pick it up) grants swiftness for 3 seconds. It’s like, the most useless thing it can do
Protection or Aegis would be far better.
Or restore full endurance to the people being resurrected…

The only reason I keep Banner is the mass revive. That has turned the tide on more than a couple of DE’s.
Ratio casting spell, stability duration and cooldown is to bad.
And you can’t move during the cast.
You cast use it as a defensif skill, but only an offensif skill.
Besides that, the range is the worst joke ever.

The range is bugged. It is DEFINITELY NOT 600.
It is 600 I’ve checked
How do you check the precise range increment?
The old battle standard was amazing in team fights, and the fairly long lasting group stability was a bit too strong in 5v5 (particularly on foefire), so they nerfed it. Guardians also took a nerf to one of their stability utilities a few days ago. I have no doubt warbanner will get buffed in the future, as it is pretty lackluster right now. Having an immobile object cast a short duration swiftness on nearby allies is a little silly really.
