State of Warriors?
Warrior is in the lowest tier as far as PvP/WvW go. I’m not a huge PvE’r so I have no idea there.
Hopefully, there is something for us in the patch in December; however they’ve been pretty quiet about anything warrior. Most likely because our class designer is a kitten (baby kitten) and doesn’t wanna deal with how fed up we are.

What game mode are you talking about? It makes a difference.
If PvP, what level of play are you interested in? Low, mid, high, torny? It makes a difference.
All the cool warrior skills are given to Guardians and Revs.
For example: before berserker specs reveal people have been begging for warriors to get spear as a land weapon. People have also been begging for some pulls on warrior because we have very limited tools to stick to our target.
What happened? Simple, Guardian gets a piercing spear 1200 range multipletarget UBBLOCKABLE pull that is extremely reliable. It’s almost as good as “Throw Bolas”!!!
When it comes to Hammer it seems like Rev could easily teach warriors a couple of tricks, and Revs could also teach Warriors a couple of tricks on how to not be a selfish class and instead be able to stack all kinds of boons on your party. It makes people love you!
The only reasons to stick to war is the reasons why I’m sticking to it:
1. Being stubborn as kitten
2. Like to stand out with your class choice. I always play the class that is the least popular.
3. I like the sense of accomplishment when I do well in spvp and WvW with warrior. With maximum effort, some skill and some luck you can be almost as effective as many other classes right now without effort, no skill and no luck.

kitten, warriors have a cripple on ONE weapon that isn’t on a massive cooldown and isn’t stupidly easily dodged. Hell, GS4’s cripple (assuming it hits – protip: it wont) will wear off before you even get to your target in most cases.
Whoever the current warrior designer is should probably be put out to pasture.
Warriors are absurdly strong in PvE and in all honesty deserve a damage reduction in my opinion due to what the elite specialization gives. It’s funny because last year its damage was nerfed to such a pitiful state that I was posting on here saying the complete opposite, yet now it’s so high that it very easily surpasses the output of the pre-ferocity days.
As for PvP, I don’t think I’ve seen a single person on these forums mention warrior being in a good position. The elite specialization doesn’t provide anything that the warrior actually needs in PvP and is fairly selfish, offering essentially nothing for groups. In addition to that, the adrenaline mechanic probably needs to be looked at again (decay rate mainly) and you’ll also find many people around here strongly believe that part of the biggest problems that warriors have are that they’re forced to take defense/discipline due to a few traits like fast hands, cleansing ire, etc.

It’s funny when I think of it now… The only time GS4 was an actual useful working skill was back at the release of the game when it was bugged with certain traits, so you could throw it at a bunch of NPCs or a Minionmancer and it would do ever increasing damage, up to 25k+. So everything just dropped dead.
We have been saying that GS4 is way too slow and unreliable. Did anything change? HA! NO!
Right now you could slap “pull”, “unblockable” and “immobilize” effects on GS4 and it would still be kitten skill. The sword flight speed is so low, I can almost catch my own sword midflight.
Just… whatever…
Warrior is dead anywhere outside pve..
So if you gonna play pure pve go warrior and you gonna be fine… if you pretend to wvw…pvp then..choose anything else and you will do much better and you will have much more fun while playing it…
Btw im a warrior main..
It hurts to say that
Warrior is dead cause the skill is dead … " Anet Logic " : let’s make a game where you can win but you don’t need skill , a game where everybody can win and play = $$$ .
Solution ? : Now you dont even need to dodge , you put your head on keyboard , apply condi , whatch and have fun ggwp you win .
In my personnal opinion we should give 250% of reward track xp and gold to warrior for compense their weakness
As others have noted, it depends on game mode.
In PvE, Phalanx Strength Greatsword (PS GS) is still considered a valuable addition to a dungeon/fractal or raid team. The damage output is decent, and the might stacking is arguably the best (surpassing even Revenant). It would be nice if there were an alternative build, but PS GS works and nothing else does. The condition option promised by Berserker Specialization turned out to be lackluster. A warrior could theoretically tank the raid content, but honestly so can most any profession that is geared/specced right.
In PvP, Warriors have fallen out of use. In the lower tiers of unranked, you can still find gs/hammers or the occasional shoutbow, but warrior has not kept pace with gameplay changes. They cannot survive burst focus; they are easily kited; they are readily overwhelmed with conditions: In other words, all the things against which warriors used to be good were buffed, and warriors were not.
In WvW, your job is to clear a few conditions, offer a little healing, throw a banner, and be the one who escapes when everyone else dies. Or it would be if there were anyone to fight, but it turns out that WvW is actually not about fighting other players, but instead is about fighting NPC’s in automatically-upgrading keeps fifty miles from one another, so nobody plays it anymore, but if they did, your job would be to use hammer 4 and 5 on a keep lord.
In GvG— wait, we’re not allowed to acknowledge such a thing on these forums, are we?
I roam in wvw and zerg without condi clears, full zerkers and no minus condition foods. All offensive traits/armor/food and utility.
I dont have much problems but only thing we lack in comparison to other classes is mobility. Dont expect to chase mesmers, guardians(good ones), rangers/druids/daredevil/thieves/rev/
basically all of the classes non warrior will out pace you in combat except for regular necro but a reaper might give u his moneys worth of chasing or kiting you out.
Now before someone complains and qqs. Im only qqing because every1 has more mobility than us warriors meaning, they all run away after they realize how much damage i output

I disagree. Not on the state of Warrior, it is pretty obvious to anyone who has PvP’d for a substantial length of time, this is the worst state Warrior has been in since the 1st year in PvP.
I disagree however that you will have more fun playing other professions. Warrior offers a style and flare most others lack, and is one of the reasons I have kept coming back to it as a main for years.
In fact, I’d argue now is one of the best times to get into Warrior, because through the frustration and the current PvP/WvW Eco system, you will learn a humbleness that many Warriors have forgot throughout their years of play. It really will make you appreciate each move, each skill, each bait, every dodge etc. Then when the day comes of the inevitable buff to warrior (whether in weeks, months or a year) you will stand even taller than you could before. Not only are you masterful in a profession that required you to up your game very quickly in it’s current state, but also the advantage of buffs.
Point is, the disillusionment with Warrior is fair at the moment, but don’t down play it as the fun profession it is, and don’t down play the potential it can still foster in the best players. Every day, the Warriors who stick with this profession are making it work, and will continue to make it work despite what comes our way.
Bro,
That was quite emotional and inspirational.
I agree though
On the PvE end, Warrior is in a rough spot for newer content. Years-old weapon skills don’t compete with new enemy design, and a majority of what Warrior needs as a base class is wrapped up in Berserker. Other classes and elites are getting many tricks on much shorter cooldowns. Warrior condi without Berserker is laughable (maybe sword/Strength-interrupt-confusion…), and HoT mobs usually have higher toughness to ward off direct damage.
Thing is, if Warrior is going to be a selfish, self-sustaining class, it needs tools to do so more strongly. It needs better access to Stability, Resistance, and Retaliation in its weapon and utility skills. Might and Fury are already prevalent, so Warrior is good there. For the most part, the only decent weapon is Greatsword, because of frequent Fury and Might boons, along with Phalanx Strength. Besides anything with Berserker, that means having one decent build.
Warrior’s ranged weapons are a joke compared to Revenant hammer or Guardian longbow. No counters or anti-pressure (Rifle Butt does not count in the new environment), and the damage is substandard. If not for longbow’s burst, Warrior doesn’t even get decent ranged AoE.
Greatsword: About the only “good” weapon for PvE, and good support with Phalanx Strength.
Hammer: Needs to learn from Revenant about area damage and stun. Trait is garbage, and it needs Stability as a part of its kit. Slight damage boost to auto-attack couldn’t hurt, since ANet wants to keep hammer-CC and damage apart from each other. It does beat the kitten out of a breakbar, though.
Longbow: Needs better antipressure skills, and the three-arrow spread is lackluster when not at point blank. Pierce should be baseline (like Revenant).
Rifle: Pierce should be baseline. Needs better antipressure skills and a damage boost to be taken seriously as a single-target weapon.
Axe: Decent enough, best pairing for warhorn as dps/support. Offhand access to Fury and silly Whirlwind on low cooldown are beneficial.
Mace: Defensive with vulnerability stacks, it’s lackluster for PvE, but a good ‘tank’ weapon with Shield, if your raid needs it.
Sword: Base Warrior’s only condition damage besides Longbow burning. Decent at pressure and offhand block.
Torch: Actually handy, especially with the mobile fire field. Condi compliment to sword with Berserker.
Warhorn: Good as is, actually. Wish the trait hadn’t gotten nerfed.
Healing: Aside from Healing Signet, Warrior sustain still needs help. Mending needs to be Physical.
Banner: In a mostly good spot. Time between banner end and cooldown needs to be closed somewhat. 30 seconds is too much, 6 seconds (with trait) was too little. 15 seconds seems like a fair compromise.
Physical: Sigh. Long cooldowns, skills that don’t work right after 3 years, low damage that needs to be raised significantly. Then, they might finally be worth using, even while competing with Rage skills.
Shouts: Generally good, but lacking a taunt that should be there. On My Mark and Fear Me need shorter cooldowns, but trait-healing is a decent addition to support. Very little need to bring On My Mark in group play, since vulnerability is so easy to stack. Dropping the vuln to a 5 stack and adding a short Quickness burst would do much better.
Signet: A decent ‘selfish’ play. For HoT content, Dolyak Signet’s cooldown needs to come way down. Other signet effects are actually fairly strong and do well enough traited.
Stance: Excellent effects on a too-long cooldown, even when traited. Less than a 20% uptime, closer to 5-15% at best.
Rage: Better versions of physical skills, smidge powercreepy, but.. Headbutt? Seriously? The short cooldown at least is useful for triggering certain runes, but it’s otherwise pretty bad.

Can’t link your text , but i would like to tell you that your speech give me hope . And i will continue to play warrior even if the ranger’s pet is stronger than 100 wars under stances .

1. Checked
2. Absolutely! Imagine getting owned by the worst class in game!
3. Jump in – fool around – jump out – have a puff – jumps back in – Rinse & Repeat.
Edit: For this case, i prefer to die with a sword in my hand. Not flowers or some decorated sticks or mini blades (daggers)
