I haven’t played warrior in a LOOOOOONG time and most of my warrior friends are new niche builds and such.

So I gotta ask what’s the current tanky/stun/lots of Dmg build ppl are running?

And is if viable at all in WvW?

Also I’d like info on a meta savvy Hammer / GS build

Before: “Noob go do your research instead of asking for the answers” I’m not that into warrior, I have no problems countering them, in fact I find them fun to fight. But I’d very much like to dabble and play around using the meta as a staring basis then change and alter based on what I think I’ll enjoy casually since I don’t intent to play it serious, so please just help me out by answering my question instead of jumping down my throat thanks.

well i cant go into specifics, but the current meta is conditions and stun, both with the recently buffed healing signet(yes its fairly good now :P) so just mess with the mace and swords with healing signet. Add a hammer or bow in there somewhere.

OP, if you are looking for the meta it is axe/mace with gs swap. You also need a warhorn for running trash mobs and a longbow for stacking might. Run full berserker’s gear with scholar runes (or ruby orbs if you cant afford the runes.)

What rjnemer is describing is the standard pve build 30/0/0/10/30 full zerk gear and trinkets with axe & mace/ greatsword.

The wvw build most run is the tanky/support healing shout build which is 30 in defense 30 in tactics and the last 10 in either discipline or arms depending on personal tastes. Armor is either full soldier or knights or mixture of the two. Runes are either soldier or melandru.

Weapons are hammer/ sword & horn. As far as a gs build your on your own. Someone might be able to direct you.

I wouldn’t suggest using the pve build in wvw

I suppose you are correct to some degree as I was talking about PvP not Pve, or WvW. Although I must be honest I don’t see anyone using this setup? The greatsword for sure, but in WvW people always run sword/warhorn with GS. Or they run hammer/longbow, though I could be wrong and will fully admit to being ignorant should and evidence be put against me. Also axe/mace, gs, warhorn, longbow. Forgive me but that is actually 5 weapons? two of which are two handed. I will assume you are including the warhorn for mobility but you cant have so many weapons on two weapon swaps. And you cant swap mid combat so I find you including so many weapons in a build to be redundant. I guess longbow “Stacking might” would be busrt+#3 but that is a waste of adrenaline and opportunity unless you commit to the longbow. Final point, I prefer to have people find out their own builds rather than copying and pasting builds they found from other people. Hence my vague suggestions towards a few weapons. Please next time you post, think about what you are saying and refrain from throwing uneeded insults. Thank you and have a nice day ^-^. (P.S. For OP to read I wouldn’t suggest just being another build. Make your own, even if it conflicts with someone elses build you can say YOU made it. Even if you didn’t make it first.)

He asks for a tanky/stun/dmg build that is usable in wvw and you link a zerker damage PVE build, while insulting someone who gave an adequate answer.

There are several sstrong weapon combos for WvW ATM, though that will change in Dec.

The forever enduring H/SwWh for zergin which has been around since the begining
Hambow Point holding, tower capture/defense
SwSw/LB condition build
MSh/GS Stun Lock
GS/SwWh is a trolling build. You annoy people and run run away. You can’t really kill anything with it.

For PvE all you need a full zerk GS/AxeMace for Dungeons and full zerk GS/LB for general PvE and farming both 30-0-0-10-30 or 30-10-0-0-10.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”

Hambow isn’t viable for open world WvW because of the lack of mobility. If you’re doing structure defense, you’re probably working within a zerg, meaning you’ll want to be using H/SWH for group utility.

Don’t forget berserker scholar rifle/gs for picking commanders.

I’ve used the Hambow in WvW since last January (was one of my fav builds for defense) and I can tell you that it does work quite well for those applications. It’s inherent lack of mobility doesn’t make it fit for roaming but if your job is to defend a tower or a camp the amount of punishment you can dish out with it is undeniable. Although it isn’t a very forgiving build, you can’t break away from the fight to reset. Pretty much every encounter is a fight to the death. I even used it in zerg fights I’d carry a SwWh and swap to them while we we’re running and mighting up then swapped back to the bow for the fight. It was a little tricky managing adrenaline to be effective but I farmed a lot of badges with that build. I’ve never been real big on group utility, I let the other warriors handle that, my job was to bring pain.

The Hammer/s-w build is a zerg build. You can only kill the worst players with it in 1 on 1 and is exponentially better when teamed with a group of 12 or more.
The point is to have multiple hammer warriors in a group to pile on stuns on a single point (preferably a clump of enemies) and for your ranged members to pile on as much spike damage AoE onto that spot as possible.

You will need a lot of defense (vitality and toughness) reduced condition duration food, etc.
You should run soldier’s runes for the increased defense and the ability to remove conditions when you get too much stacked on you.

Use the sw-wh to get in and out of the fights.

The rest you can tweak yourself but 20 in defense is the bare minimum (Merciless Hammer) and you can tweak the rest as you want (most people go tactics and discipline.)

One of the main meta builds right now for WvW is 0/10/30/0/30. You can use a variety of different weapon sets with this trait set up. Hammer/ Sword + Warhorn is great for zerging like Chris said; I like to run Hammer/Greatsword which is pretty viable for zerging, but is definitely a set you’d use more for roaming and flipping camps. I’ve recently been using Mace+Shield/Greatsword for roaming as well. The Mace+Shield/Greatsword set makes it harder to flip camps, but it’s a lot stronger for 1 v 1s.

Just a fair warning! Anet is going to be changing this soon and you’ll have to invest at least 20 into the arms tree in order to get “Unsuspecting Foe”.

Hope this helps a little!

Oh Syde, how I’ve fallen to your warrior in the last week. Seriously. I was out to get the jp the other day in your BL and I’m fairly certain i ran afoul of you or another war from your guild. Either way, good show. thankfully i was outmanned and had no armor repair.

A lot of posts saying 30/0/0/10/30 for PvE aren’t entirely wrong. The newest build I’ve stumbled upon putting out much higher numbers than the previous is 30/25/0/10/5. It’s a somewhat selfish build, but the numbers are amazing.

PvP wise, Hambow is the current meta running 0/10/30/0/30. It’s not the best roaming build with a bow on, but a lot of players have been swaping bow for more viable roaming weapons. A lot of players run Sword/Warhorn/Hammer or GS/Hammer for WvW roaming. If you’re just zerging, who honestly cares what your build is.

Another amazing PvP build, especially in sPvP are the Sword/Sword/Longbow condi builds. There are so many variations running around at this point. I’ve personally been using 0/25/15/10/15 w/ Melandru runes. A lot of warriors have been leaning to Lyssa runes lately, however, I just purely enjoy the over all condi reduction from a 48 second minimum condi clear w/ 4 secs of buffs.

That’s definitely the highest dps for a pure axe build. If you use gs on swap the lack of fast hands will be punishing.

I’ve been using Runes of Antitoxin on my SS/LB build (WvW). You get the same condition reduction but sacrifice stun reduction for more condition damage. It works pretty good.
