Okay so I was messing around with the build editor for warrior trying to find an extreme survival build focusing on toughness/armour. I was looking to find a way to become practically unkillable in WvW whilst solo roaming and fighting multiple enemies and I came up with this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNApeSjkOFvVPOP4wBE0jrQDrCVh5I9QMQj0A-jUCBYMCi0yQ0AA0HgJQFRjtspIas6FYqTER1ecFRrWIAZjBA-w

Stats are:
Attack: 2984
Crit chance: 32%
Armour: 3930
Health: 24532
Boon duration: 30%
Heal power: 300
Crit damage: 10%

Traits:
0
0
30: I, II, IX
30: I, VIII, XII
10: III

This is using full Knights set + trinkets with Superior Rune of the Dolyak in armour and Exquisite Azurite Jewels in trinkets.
Weapons would be Mace/Shield (or sword/shield for better mobility) and Hammer.

Does anyone know roughly the calculations for armour and tell me if this build with these stats is effective at achieving ‘unkillable’ status?

EDIT: I was thinking and should I take Missile Deflection over Cleansing Ire? With Mace/Shield I can block a lot and with reflection I will be able to output more damage. With Cleansing Ire though I am expecting to be hit quite a lot (hence the major toughness) and extra adrenaline with more condi removal seems appealing. Thoughts?

Personally,

Drop Healing Signet for Healing Surge.
You get more health on a pop and when you follow up with your burst skill, you remove 3 conditions since it refills your adrenaline bar.

Drop Dolyak Signet for Balanced Stance
You can use it more often (three times for ever 2 activations of Dolyak Signet) and you trade off damage reduction for swiftness. I’d guess you can reduce more damage staying out of combat than reducing what you are taking when it really comes down to it. Plus, more stability means being less controlled and therefore less of a butt whooping.

For Great Justice over Fear Me
I just like it better, but just a personal preference of damage over control.

Shrug It Off over Vigorous Shouts.
Your healing power is pretty non-existant so your shouts aren’t going to heal for much of anything. Better to lose a condition that will end up doing more damage to you than what your shouts would heal for anyway.

Inspiring Shouts over Warrior’s Sprint
With Balanced Stance, you have movement and Inspiring Shouts works with your shouts to power up your heal and condition removal with burst skills.

I would think that this would get your closer to unkillable since you will have a lot more condition removal (remember, conditions ignore armor and toughness) but I think in the end, you may find yourself having a hard time killing others even though they cant’ kill you. Hold out until support gets there would be the plan I would assume.

Doesn’t matter how much toughness/vit you stack. Without a protection buff, you will never be tanky enough to take two average dpsers. Also, you won’t be doing good dps with that build.

Your dps would be so slow in WvW as to allow for opponents to gain their health back or more enemies to stumble upon you. You also can’t run away with that build.

You should take signet mastery since you have two signets. Swiftness in combat is still slightly faster than 25% run speed and you will have your signet up during fights. If your fight lasts beyond 30 seconds you are mostly gonna die from zergs running by unless your lucky.

You need unsuspecting foe to salvage a tanky build into a dps one.

No way to get out of being immobilized etc and so-so condition removal. A think a necro would eat you up since you need to land your melee burst on them to remove 3 conditions.

My twist on this, would be to keep Healing Signet, because Healing Surge will give you the adrenaline yes, but you’ll get rid of a condition if your burst skill actually hits with Cleansing Ire, if you’re blinded that can be very hard.

Replace all of runes you have with Runes Of The Soldier, drop Fear Me and have all of the shortest shouts, so For Great Justice, On My Mark and Shake It Off. I ran that sort of build with Knights Gear for a while and I wasn’t “unkillable” but I was able to stand in enemies arrow carts and type /dance into my chat box, although I was using Clerics trinkets if I remember correctly.

If you want to be as unkillable as possible, I’d say get some Power/Toughness/Vitality gear in there. I can’t imagine what your damage will be like though, laughable.

Yea I’m not too worried about having pathetic damage mainly just huge survivability. So I should focus more on condition removal, I was stacking the kitten out of toughness because as a warrior there is no reliable way to apply protection. Thanks for the input so far.

Well, you’re not wrong, but it all just depends on the scenario you’re into. When I was running that above type build I was mainly in large teams sometimes zergs, I found that most of the damage being thrown at me was AoE stuff which more often than not was conditions.

People will argue and say that you need massive HP to deal with conditions, I believe in a mixture of toughness and vitality but I went more for toughness, because I found by having all of the shortest cooldown shouts with runes of the soldier, I was able to remove pretty much any condition before it had a really bad effect on me.

To put this into perspective, with my knights gear and clerics trinkets, bleed would not harm me until it reached 6 stacks because of the regen from Healing Signet, and this is BEFORE Healing Signet has it’s massive buff, back then I was only being healed for around 220 per tick, now it’s nearly 400 without any healing power I think?

I wasn’t exagerating about standing in enemy arrowcart fire either, I used to do that and I could revive pretty much anyone while being in arrowcart fire, being on fire etc because I would just use a shout to remove the dangerous conditions.

You could try a banner regen build but you’ll lose out on the condition removal from soldier runes and you have to annoyingly carry the banner with you, that being said, the banner won’t run out while the skill is on cooldown as you probably know, so you can have 2 spare util slots while still having the perma regen from banner and healing signet combined.

I tried this in sPvP for a little while and I was a tough cookie to take down, it’s just a pain carrying the banner around with you everywhere.

Here’s a modified version of your build to try.

Most of the traits are the same, except the 10pts in Discipline moved to Arms instead.

More Power and Crit Damage, less Crit Chance, get that from Unsuspecting Foe instead. UF (50%) + Fury (20%) + base crit (21%) = 91% Crit Chance.

Replace some Knights pieces with Cavalier and Valkryie armor and jewels where they are the most optimal.

Okay so I decided to make this build ingame and test it out.
A few changes were made:

Weapons – am now using Mace/Shield and Sword/Axe to give some extra DPS/AoEs (Mace and Axe have zerker stats)
Runes – changed runes to 5x Superior rune of the Engineer and 1x Superior rune of Mercy; just for the extra 25 toughness.
Trinket gems – I kept the Knights gems in the trinkets since Azurites cost quite a lot and I still get the same toughness.
TraitsI decided to go for Missile Deflection over Cleansing Ire since 50% of WvW damage is ranged and I am blocking a lot EDIT: Ok well while Missile deflection gives a bit more damage I am heavily lacking in condition removal for a tank build so I retraited for Cleansing Ire. I kept Vigorous Shouts since I am still using two Shout utilities and it heals for 1.5k which isn’t toooo bad. Also I kept Warrior’s Sprint because that 25% speed buff is lovely when roaming and gives me more kiting ability in fights to allow Healing Signet to tick off more.

Right now stats are:
Attack: 2749
Crit Chance: 38%
Toughness: 3967 (I can get 4111 with food and using Sword instead of Mace since sword has knights stats)
Health: 23435
Healing: 300
Boon Duration: 30%
Crit Damage: 15%

Utilities: Healing Signet, Fear me!, Shake it Off, Dolyak Signet and Signet of Rage

After fighting a few duels and 1v2’s I can safely say that this build is extremely sustainable and will eventually wear down enemies. Using the blocks from Mace/Shield gives me time to recover with Healing Signet (3 second block = 1.2k heal) + the three stuns/dazes available with Mace/Shield add up to 5 seconds which is a 2k heal. I am basically kiting the enemy with Mace/Shield to build up HP and then rushing them with Sword/Axe using sword leap to immobilise followed by Sword burst for a 4 sec immobilise and then axe 5/4 for damage. I currently get about 3-4k damage using Axe 5 and with sword 3 I have hit 2-3k so the damage isn’t non-existent. After I dps I switch back to Mace/Shield and start again, using Mace for weakness also helps Regen from Signet.

This build is lovely at dropping glass cannons since 4k armour is gonna screw them up bad. I won a 1v2 against a thief and warrior, fight took awhile but I wasn’t worried about dying (they may have been average players but I’m not a PvP god and this is the first time trying this build). Had a stalemate with a hammer guard, neither of us could sufficiently drop each other and eventually he D/Ced.

None of my gear is ascended cos I’m too poor in laurels/don’t dungeon much at all so this build is purchasable off the TP

Heres a picture of stats:

Update: I needed more Condition removal so I removed Vigorous Shouts and Lung Capacity and replaced with Quick Breathing and Shrug it Off

I also now use Sword/Warhorn instead of Sword/Axe just for better condition removal.
