Sword/Axe + Hammer or Axe/Shield + Longbow?
Hi, I am split between going sword/axe + hammer on the warrior or axe/shield + longbow. This is my 2nd warrior because I enjoy the profession a lot; my first is a GS/rifle war but he isn’t really a zerker. For this war I want to make him pretty berserker, mainly for wvw. I’m not sure which weapon set I should go with, and was hoping some experienced warriors could help me out. Thanks!
ok first things first DO NOT GO ZERKY IN WVW WITH A WARRIOR unless your roaming then I guess that is a option but zergs and sige are going to eat you up.
I highly recommend pvt gear.
axe shield will give you some form of high dps with eviscerate as well as a decent block and a interrupt it’s just not that mobile. longbow will probably be used more for the 3 skill the portable combo field and the immobile. do not expect to get the same use out of the long bow as a condi though a lot of htat weapon is reliant on condition damage.
with that said battle standard combustion shot and arching shot = a aoe 10 might for 20 seconds. that could very well turn the tide of a battle. which the long bow is a MUST to pull off. banner of strength can be substituted for similar results but saving you signet of rage.
sword is mainly a condition weapon. if you go with a axe invest into the arms trait grand master furious to try to make the most out of whirling axe to max your adrenaline. hammer is great for crowd control especially earthshaker which is now infamous. (however it’s well known that sigil of paralysis is going to get nerfed) the big issue with the hammer is the long cds and it’s well clunky. it’s still a GREAT weapon for wvw zerg vs zerg though as htose 2 seconds really can pay off (unless the other side has stablility up it does however come with a nice weakness skill and some decent damage.
just don’t expect to catch a fellow warhorn warrior who has signet of rage. or any decently mobile class.
hammer I feel is very good for zerg vs zerg but not roaming I’ve never tried it so I could be wrong.

Sword is not mainly a condition weapon. It’s a hybrid weapon that can be used either way. It has mobility, fast decent auto damage that’s supplemented by bleeds, and Eviscerate-like damage with Final Thrust.
Hammer is a strong roaming weapon. Couple it with Sword/X or Longbow F1 for high AoE damage and might stacking.
Axe/Shield + Long Bow
Reasons: Sleeper.
