I’ve been playing Warrior for a little over a month now, and I would like some help on fine tuning what I already have. No, the runes and gems and stuff aren’t in my equipment, but this is a general idea of what my build is going for.

My main goal with this build is to control and support in WvW and dungeons. I may not be able to hit hard at first, but by stacking might as the battle goes on, and by keeping myself alive through shouts and regeneration, in theory, I should be able to survive while contributing decently in damage.

I keep hearing about how the condition damage on swords is horrible when compared to other classes, and I don’t much mind that. The reason why I picked sword/mace in the first place was because I wanted cripples so I can activate my traits and immobilize mobs when needed. I would much rather stop a creature from going anywhere than watch it limp towards an ele who wasn’t paying attention in the first place and will end up getting plowed.

With this build, I focused on Healing Power, Toughness (to go with the Armored Attack Trait), and Power. I chose cleric for weapons and accessories while going sentinel in my armor for the much needed health, but beyond that, I focused on being tanky.

Any tips and suggestions are welcome. This means I am looking for constructive criticism. If you post something about how swords are terrabad, how I’m a noob, or anything that falls into the category of “you’re wasting my time”, you will be ignored.

Thank you in advance.

First off, I’d suggest you take the elite banner if you’re gonna support. Only because of it’s instant rallies. That’s one thing that can really make the difference between winnig or loosing.

And also, you’re very good specced to help out your friends with healing/removing conditions but what you need to do is basically to figure what helps them best, you staying alive or them staying alive for whatever time you give them.

You will always end up in situations where you’ll be the wall between your allies and the enemies and there, and in those situations it’s better to stay alive longer than to be able to support.

I have used similar builds very many times in WvW and modified endlessly after each guild raid, and tbh I find that Melandru runes, Dogged march and Poultry and Leek soup and knights gear/trinkets mixed with soldiers will do the job better. It’s an easy recipe. The base crit dmg is 50%, right? I got up my crit chance to about the same and other than that balanced out my toughness and vitality. I had around 26k hp and 3.6k toughness and stayed alive for a good amount of time and used the elite banner to revive.

This build is very focused on supporting, but the best support a warrior can do IMO is to stay alive and push enemy lines to create chaos in their ranks.

I changed it around a bit, and this is what I ended up with.

Your idea and my idea of a tank is drastically different, but I think I understand where you’re coming from and this, and prefer your choice of a build in this situation. Focus on keeping yourself alive rather than keeping others alive. Otherwise, you’re just a walking pillar that everyone can ignore.

Thank you so much for the assistance. I see now why -x% condition duration is beyond useful, haha.

Ofc it will always come down to your play-style. Maybe you will feel that this is better than my suggestion for what you want to use it for. The warrior does have good abilities to stay alive AND heal, but we always need to evaluate our efforts counter results. My playstyle is pretty basic, and in that situation I love the passive stuff so I can focus.

Condifood along with Melandru and Dogged March is extremely viable for a tank atm. The slowing down debuffs will not get a chance to settle with more than 90% shortened duration, and around 60% for general conditions. That builds for awesome mobility and you can focus on other things than condi removal.

Np, just think it through a few extra times before you start spending money and time on gearing it with Clerics
