Sword Main Hand
Sunrise ~ Bifrost ~ Bolt
Hi Niacin, I just want to say that I use a Sword main hand build which I find to be very good. When I get home I’ll reply with the build specs.
As far as using Sword as a main weapon I’ve found myself running this setup since the last patch.

I’ve found it to be a solid mix of damage and survivability, you just need to get used to using the OH sword abilities.

Why not using leg specialist and opportunist together instead of blademaster? Pin down, flurry, leap all become source for fury. You can pretty much gain perma 20% crits on all your attacks…
Looking at your build you would probably have to change some stuff around but those ability/trait synergies pretty well together… I don’t say it would be better I’m just trowing some other options

Pretty sure S/Sh longbow is a common well respected build.
I personally run S/Sh A/M stance, which I find fairly fun as well.
However, I think in both instance S/Sh is the CC set, not the dmg set.

While leg specialist and opportunist do synergise well together, it comes down to where you remove the points to get it from. Do you remove it from a) stripping 5 points from arms and defence and lose about 12% flat damage for it? b) Arms and Discipline and give up 10% damage and 5% crit damage along with increased damage against targets who love to cover themselves in boons?
In my opinion getting complete uptime on fury isn’t worth giving up 10% permanent crit chance when I already have 66% uptime on fury anyway especially when that 10% crit stacks with fury whereas opportunist doesn’t give that option.

I agree and came to the same conclusion as you. Your build as some good stuff I really like in it and changing stuff around would force you to sacrifice a lot. I might try it this week end.

I really don’t know why you would go for a minor amount of Toughness>Power when you can put those 5 points into Arms for Furious.
I am pretty sure the OP is asking about PvE builds, considering that he specifically mentions “dps” and axe/mace with GS.

Yes, this is correct. Pve is what I was asking for.

Sword/WH + Longbow build is rather fun. 30 Arms/30 Tactics/10 Defense. Not really made for Spvp but fun for wvw roaming and solo.
