Tank/Support help

I wear full power/vit/tough exotic weapons and armour, with rare jewellery also giving power/vit/tough. Using runes of the dolyak for some added health regeneration. Jewellery has crest of the soldier attached. Weapons have sigil of energy and sigil of regeneration, at least I think it’s energy, the one that fills your endurance on a kill.
With a banner down the passive health regeneration goes through the roof, even if you start losing too much health, just switch to ranged and fall back, in a matter of seconds you’ll have enough health regained to jump back into the fray.
I love my build and can’t really get into any other play styles as I despise squishyness. As far as I’m concerned, if you can out endure your enemy, you will always win.

I normally don’t like playing tank/support, but I did make an armor set for it.
I made it 0/0/25/30/15 with reflect on block, shield mastery or merciless hammer depending on which you like better (if you choose hammer, reflect on block isn’t very useful, so you could switch that for something else), leg specialist (for hammer cripple. Again, you could change this out if you don’t use hammer), lung capacity, vigorous shouts, and warrior’s sprint.
I made my armor Soldier’s armor (Power/Toughness/Vitality) with soldier runes (for condition removal on all shouts). Trinkets are all cleric’s, with a soldier’s backpiece and a cleric’s jewel in it. Weapons are also all cleric weapons, and you can mix and match which weapons you want (hammer, mace, shield, warhorn, sword are the popular choices). I run the three low-cooldown shouts, healing signet, and warbanner for my utilities.
While I haven’t exactly optimized this build at all, I sure as hell am hard to kill with it. I saw heals up to 2000 on myself with each shout (~1200-1500 usually, I think) and healing signet heals for ~250 per tick. HP gets to ~27k and toughness is ~3200. I didn’t really pay attention to my strength, but it’s not exactly great with this build. However, you can take on a lot of things and live without any trouble at all. In WvW, it’s quite enjoyable to go into a group of 5 people alone and swing around a hammer and play with them while not dying. I’ll keep my analogy to myself as it’s not exactly the most polite of analogies, but it’s enormous fun.
As a wise person once posted in a comment on a video that I saw once on the internet, “Health is the biggest troll ever”. I quite agree with this. Just stand there and watch someone unload everything on you and heal it all back up and knock them down for kicks. You won’t kill anyone very easily with the damage output of this build, but they’ll kill you even less easily.
Quaggan may or may not like you ~
I’ve been doing this more and more, sword and warhorn, specced for bleed, alternatively toughness and vit and maybe some mercy runes. Still experimenting with utility skills but you can run all signets with this and still add a lot of support. blast for quickness, Start them bleeding, blast out weakness and vigor, burst and immobilize (no need to finish, just start the burst), power jump to the next group and repeat. You can even take on the role of rezzer with mercy runes if you want. Let someone else work on the crits.
Awesome thx for the advice definatly a big help and much appreciated!!!
Am leaning more towards the sword as my main hand, is it worth it to use without + condition dmg or would it be viable to swap out atleast some jewelry for somethin with + condition dmg on it?
Also is banner regen better than shout healing? i did manage to read somewhere for shout healing u need healing power for it to be effective but banners dont is this true?
Again appreciate the advice

Healing power contributes to the effectiveness if both healing abilities. I personally prefer banners as you don’t really have to worry about it, just plonk it down and even if you leave it’s range you’ve got around 30 seconds worth of regen left. Also I think it heals around 200-250 health per second with no healing power, don’t hold me to that though.

you may be correct there dolan, ive gone full power+toughness+healing power spec, with banners, currently they are doing 330 aoe every sec, and the healing banner gives a 1k AOE every 10 sec, but because of this my damage output is rubbish, but longbow is a good weapon to have secondary, as the might bonuses from its combo field are ridiculous!

Only 330 with heaps of healing power!? No offence but what a waste of a stat, I thought for sure a solid commitment to healing power should double/triple it’s effectiveness as it does when you commit to any other stat.

you should try this build it isnt pure support/ tank but its good allrounder superefficient in dungeons or in parties
all shouts heals + your healing heals a bit too thanks to armor runes
you have awesome dmg with twohander (big part of your dps is from vulnearibility and might stacks)
you still have pretty nice dmg
have fun!

makes sense, i wouldnt mind it being increased, or ascended gear and legendaries having healing power (as none of them but a pendant gives healing power!!) and only 3 dungeon gear sets give healing power, but its a consistent 330 over a period of a minute and a half, plus 1k every 10 seconds which im sure makes a difference, my warhorn skills also convert conditions to boons AOE, which is fantastic, gaining retaliation and even aegis at times, and in some cases in PVE the healing can actually slightly counter monsters incoming damage, so its worthwhile, but i just wanted something that was abit different to the standard glass cannon build, as i was annoyed at always being on my butt in dungeons unable to do anything
So with power/toughness/vitality armor what accessories and weapon stats should i be going for as a tank/support build? should i throw all cleric accessories? i dont want to kitten my dmg to much for when i find myself running round soloing without having to respec my build
thx

I have maintained the power/vit/tough specs across all items. I find healing power isn’t worth crippling your damage or defense. Also, on challenges that require destroying objects, just bust out the greatsword and you’ve become the biggest damage contributer as objects aren’t affected by conditions or crits, examples being graveling burrows in AC.

i made a tank build for my warrior so i could change between glass canon and tank build when ever i feel like it… i went full AC gears, armor / weapons cuz they have pwr/vit/tough and for trinkets i got rare soldier set, you can get the exotics one’s but those are expensive, and i use full crest of soldier so thats about 14pcs for 6 armor, 2 weapons, 5 trinkets and 1 back pack.. and i use banner regens, i dont even lose hp on pve i just summon a banner then regen pops in…
