Tanky Support Build w/o GS

War horn is an amazing support weapon. I mean seriously, a 1200 range aoe boon cast that you can trait to remove conditions on everyone? It’s a godsend in WvW, and is part of any non-selfish party build. I’ll leave others to post as I’m still new to warrior, but I know I’ll be glad to see one more war horn on the field.
Never got into warhorn myself, but longbow is a definite choice if you’re utilising banners. The F1 ability then #3 gives might to you and teammates. Drop one or two banners for more, pick it up and slam it into the ground, throw in For Great Justice and give yourself Signet of Rage (you could probably go Warbanner as another blast finisher but I find the cooldown is ungodly long for such a short lasting banner.) I’m not sure on the exact number of stacks each action gives, but nearby allies usually sit on 15 stacks and I teeter from 20-25.

I agree Drawing, i feel quite bad for under-estimating the use of this weapon, i saw it and thought “eh, pretty bad, i’ll never need that” but now that i’ve been playing the game, understood the mechanics and traits, i see the Warhorn as a must now. especially when i saw the trait that you described. Vigor feels so important to me as well, that on top of being a tough kitten with a high hp pool, the ability to spam more dodges just = win.
I’ll definitely keep a Longbow on hand then, i never really thought about dropping the banner into the combo field and then quickly picking it up and blasting it for a combo finisher, feels like there’s just enough time to pull that off if executed well, most of the time i’m running with SoR, but in dungeons i’ll almost always swap out for the res banner.
15 Extra might stacks than i usually get sounds very nice as well actually, just need a viable build now that can make use of these abilities on the go, i think a mace as a MH with the Warhorn would probably be the best if i’m going for a supportive role, at least that way i’ve got a block.

Here’s my build from another thread: with Knight’s gear, healing shouts and shield block, I find it’s pretty darn tank-y with some well-timed dodges and brings great support. It could be made more tanky if you wish, but I felt it was worth sacrificing some shield traits/health regen for some more DPS – often the best support can be killing a dangerous mob as quickly as possible.
My build is:

(have to copy link into your address bar)
Axe/Shield with Warhorn offhand, swapping to rifle or LB situationally (E.g before bosses were you expect to need range). With Healing Surge + Shake It Off / FGJ / OMM + Rage Signet
It’s based around building up your adrenaline bars, then leaving them full with the %dmg boost and the crit chance boost, which fits in nicely with the axe traits. Brings support through the Warhorn cleansing conditions and the swiftness/vigor buffs, alongside healing shouts.
I’m currently wearing mostly all knight’s gear with berserker accessories and weapons and I find it strikes a really good balance between DPS (through the axe auto-attack and full adrenaline bonuses) and defence (through healing shouts and shield block/interrupt) while still bringing support to the group (through warhorn and shouts).
