There are lots of good suggestion on how to buff/improve warrior in this game. So far my favorite one on how to buff warrior sustain is to make all the stance skills become F3-F4-F5 (Endure Pain, Balance Stance, Berserker Stance). This change is perfectly fit for the core warrior. Trust me, this won’t be overpowered. Yet, you still need to buff warrior’s healing skills, because all of them are beyond useless.

Now, I’m going to talk about an idea of how to rework Warrior Specialization (Berserk).
If we look at the description of warrior in GuildWars2.com, we can see warrior as “master of weaponry”. Now take a look at warrior, are we the master of weaponry? Nope, not even close.

So, instead of giving us a useless Berserk Mode F2 and all those useless primal burst skills, please give us a 3rd weapon access (New F2). Imagine a warrior with 3 different weapon sets combination? We don’t need fast hand baseline anymore. Now this is call “Master of Weaponry”. This fits the warrior style, fits the description, fit the title of Berserk, and also a kitten cool way to buff warrior specialization.

If you look at other classes, you will find out that warrior has the least skills to use. Engi has kits, F1~F5, Nerco has DS/RS, Ele has 4 attunement(20 skills!?), Mesmer has F1~F5, Guardian has F1~F3, Ranger has 2 pets that have different skills, Revenant has 2 legends that all the utility skills are spammable.

I have no idea how you guys going to buff warriors, but I do see its a must need in future patch. I know rework requires a lot of works so all these suggestions are just for fun actually. BUT, there are so many suggestions on the forum, just pick one, and work on it.

It’s definitely a route to take, and one that’s been suggested several times over the last year or two (more in the last six months).

I personally favour reworking the traits for greater synergy, build diversity, and sustain potential, but that’s just me. Whatever the route taken though, as long as it deals with some of the core issues, who could complain?

I think the perfect idea for a unique warrior theme in the current settings would be if ALL warrior hits/skills would be unblockable to SOME degree. For example, regular hit 100% damage, hitting through an enemy’s block 50% damage, hitting through blindness 30% damage (I can’t see him but I can hear him, so I can still make some pain) etc…

I think it would bring a pretty unique concept to the warrior class that noone else has, while keeping the “master of weapons” – somewhat tainted – image. Basically you could never really stop a warrior from hitting you, he would always find some way to hurt you some.

To get back on topic, when I read all the suggestions on this subforum about warrior/berserker tweaking, I wonder how Anet could give us “that” berserker. There are so many good and logical ideas !
As Tarcis said, this kind of stuff is no easy task but, I mean, they are paid for it…

I sincerely hope warrior/berserker get waaay more love in february.

I found that it is just selfish and making too many haters. It just completely is not helpful to the community. Moreover, I do not even play this game anymore loll

The only reason why I come to this forum is to learn English writing and reading since I am Korean lol, and probably very funny to see how a game company revitalize or ruins their game.

Well I am playing different online game now, but there is also some1 who calling himself as “Top ~~~ NA” stuff, I totally tired of people doing this kitten and I think I have grown up from gw2 experience and that person needs to grow up as well.

I found it is rather better to show what one archived, rather than saying “TOP ~~~ NA, I AM GODDDDDD”

and that game is not even kittening esports-like or esports-wannabe game such as dota or lol or CSGO but just an typical MMORPG that has less population than GW2… wtf

They just need to tweak a few things and redo almost all the physical + rage skills to have more stunbreaks. Most importantly srsly, warrior needs more boon hate + fast hands should be pretty much default on warriors.

At the moment warrior bring almost nothing to team fights.

This is why warrior has become difficult to be competitive with. Players suggestion just take them back to the same skills, same stances that warrior has always used.
It doesn’t address the total lack of team dynamic. The selfish and boring nature of signets. The pathetic shouts. The misaligned traits in obscure tree’s..and worst gw2 warrior remains as un-dynamic and boring to play as gw1 warrior. The handful of problematic bugs don’t get addressed, the slow and clunky weapons don’t get addressed, the excessive cool downs on weapons that fail to work or are highly telegraphed don’t addressed.

One of the major problems with HoT was an attempt to give everyone everything. Guardians lack ranged damage and aoe melee presence..so they were given that. Necro lack abilities to deal with crowd control skills and having a melee presence..they were given it. Engineer had no melee weapon or purposeful bruiser traits, they were given it…

Warrior lacked a usable condition build, so they aimed for the lowest hanging fruit and gave the most basic of condition builds.

An opportunity to bring warrior into 2016 was completely missed. What should have been warrior idea’s were all piled into rev/guard/engi and warrior as a result has not changed in play style or thematically in over 10 years of the guild wars franchise.

At this stage of the game, there is no reason to roll a warrior whatsoever anymore. They are outclassed on every front. Buffs won’t change this because the basic thinking behind them is unimaginative, non progressive and stale. They need a total rework on all fronts.

Although I agree with most of what you say, I find you a bit too harsh regarding some aspects. Warrior has always been “classic” in terms of gameplay, but never was he un-dynamic or stale whatsoever. Precisely because of its low skillcap, players rolling warriors needed to be creative and smart about it.This was just a biased opinion you gave.

But unfortunately, you are right in what you say regarding the current state of warrior/berserker… Warrior needs to be reworked from scratch to be at least on par with the current power creep meta Anet seems to tend toward.

Sounds interesting change.
I am playing warrior/berserker a lot in pvp in these days, despite every team mate raging at me when loosing, and i can say the difference between berserker and others meta class is not much the damage output, but the sustain, especialy against condi heavy. The sustain is lower cuz we actualy dont have any decent active healing skill, wich compared to class like elementalist and revenant who have even 2!!! makes us unable to recover from a condi spike, so that we always have to play very coscient and try to find always the best timing, wich against this bunker meta is never the right timing.
I think a good solution would be to decrease cd of most of the healing of warrior, especialy mending, and give warrior more rousing resilence like traits, wich help heal and sustain with the right combo and situation reaction.

Depends on how you define classic play style.
In the Fantasy/M.M.O genre fighters/warriors have always been the DPS mules. In the current game build I feel confident no one feels warrior is that.

Then there is the slightly more abstract versions of warriors such as wolverine or Captain America. These characters couldn’t affect the weather or shoot lasers from their eyes and didn’t have amazing suits or turn green and muscle bound. However they’re both warrior/soldier archetypes at their core. Shield bash that targets PBAoE up to 3 targets, hyper movement abilities, critically over striking coupe De gras are all classic warrioresque themes. The concurrent pop culture idea has revolved around:
1) Hyper fast and reactionary
2) Engaging multiple foes is no problem
3) Strong sustain
4) dispatches lesser foes quickly
5) Finishes stronger foes with targeted strong finishers

What we currently have with warrior is:
Falls victim to multiple foes insanely fast
Has little sustain
Hyper slow
Long clunky animations where all the damage is back loaded
Self roots

The pop culture ideals for the warrior/soldier have all existed from early 1940-Mid 1970’s. The role play/Fantasy gaming (dungeon and dragons) idea became popularised in the mid 1970’s.

So even the ‘classic’ warrior is still thematically more sound than the current ‘modern’ interpretation of the warrior we have currently.

With Anets latest offering of a new melee profession, the revenant it is a shallow mix of thief/warrior that is better than both warrior or thief and offers a one dimensional mix of both professions. The current idea’s pool for melee professions is currently a bit empty.

However, if you play multi professions you can see in each profession there is traits that are awesome for them, but would have been better suited to warrior. It would have helped warrior and all melee professions get out the rut they’re in. So there is good idea’s in the development group, but no thinking outside the box and how to apply them to warrior. It is almost like they went into this ignoring the bugged skills, bad traits and stale play style they have developed and made the assumption they are super strong and only need minor tweaks.

This is a really good idea in changing the stances to f2, f3, f4, and maybe even f5 (defiant stance?). Having a second heal skill only puts it on par with revenant, druid (celestial form), necro (second hp bar), etc. I still think it would lack sustain, especially in regards to condi cleanse as shouts/rage (physicals 2.0)/physicals offer little. Also the base warrior would still be slow and clunky, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. It would mean you could slot some more interesting skills on your bar as all stances would be baseline ex: To the limit as shoutheal, full shouts, and banner elite might be able to get close to the current support classes with some shout updates.

Nope. Warrior need complete remake from trait, utility, weapon sets and its action level, the lowest part. For example, engi hammer dmg has 2.3 times higher than warrior’s hammer dmg at same ammy as well as they are able to block, stun and evwn reflect. As for trait, Warrior has too many dependencies that is forced to choose, such as discipline line, in its trait right now.

But what Tarcis said is brilliant idea as well. But I guess that will not make warrior anymore easy to play tho.

I think the stances as F skils are a great idea since warrior is so locked to them, it’s been proven that endure pain and berserker stance at minimum are essential a warrior’s survivability. it adds some more depth without making things like fast hands and such baseline.

Healing signet was a great passive heal but let’s face it, toughness scales terribly now and abck then it worked because warriors could survive taking some hits. The new heal skill has an interesting idea, but the initial heal is pathetic with all the damage flying around. 1-2k is not going to make you live long enough to get those crits, they want you to use your heal skill offensively which is not why I’m going to my heal skill in the first place.

Actually, not just warrior, but the whole game pvp mechanic now is all broken and super boring as kitten than ever. (and now it even became buy2win game, due to HoT expansion)

That is why i quit this game as soon as hot expansion released, and now, just like I expected and predicted, i see that this game is suffering like hell than ever from everybody, not just warrior or myself, as well as its twitch viewer number decrease by almost 50%+ if you read pvp forum section.

Hope anet just roll everyrhing back to patch before HoT expansion. And take their time to slove all the problem. or give us real decent well-designed esport-oriented patch. So everybody can come back to normal and restore its twitch viewer numbers as well.

I don’t feel there a problem with Twitch numbers either. I watched a good part of the last pro league, and there were indeed 3k+ watchers there – a figure consistent with what I remember from previous large GW2 competitions.

Nearly all of the spectators were mocking the boring meta – but ANet has already acknowledged that the current meta was less than satisfactory, and that they’d change it soon enough.

I have a problem with the format of the broadcast, though. I do appreciate the efforts of the commentators, however I find myself annoyed most of the time by the PoV changes. They try to show a bit of everything (rotations, skills), but IMHO end up missing a lot of interesting stuff.

I’d rather spectate myself, possibly with the audio of the speakers. Beging able to replay the games would be great, too. Currently, I enjoy personal streams of players (such as Tarcis) way more than GW2 competitions, even if the general level of games is lower, simply because the pace is more consistent.

Not sure tbh… What would be a good trade off / way to balance a warrior getting a 3rd weapon in an elite like this?

I really think low weapon swap timers are integral to warrior play feeling right, if 3 weapons had a 10 sec CD on swap, it would feel too slow, losing the f1 skill if you opt for the 3rd weapon would make more sense, maybe the f1 skill would be replaced with something new in a 3 weapon elite spec?

I love the idea of stances becoming profession f skills though.

I’m weary of the mention of weapon swapping being made unnecessary being part of the balance changes. If they simply remove fast hands, it would just ruin the cadence of skill rotations.

Maybe a trade off would be lowering the weapon swap CD to 7 seconds and removing fast hands? I just think faster weapon swapping should be a staple of the warrior’s play and never change.
