There are only two explanations for combustive shot nerf:

1) They weren’t honest when explaining the reasons behind it
2) They don’t know their own game mechanics and refuse to listen to people who do

It is true, they really have fallen into a false sense of transparency.

They will tell us what they are planning, but not listen to us when we see something obviously wrong.

Im not too sure the longbow F1 damage was “normalized” either. The tooltip reflects it, but the damage is kitten poor now. Not worth using in a power build anymore. Same damage per tick as before…but now every 3 seconds instead of 1? so it has been royally kitten.

You would think some random schmuck at the office could be like “oh i will just build some adrenaline and throw the longbow F1 into those golems…..wut? noe adren gane!? BUG!!”

Ele’s have the same problem as well as the necromancers. Necro’s have it abit harder since the players who know necros inside & out have been giving the best suggestions to Devs & such for the past 14 months have literally been overlooked.
We all know what classes anet plays, Mesmers & guardians.

I do actually wonder about one thing..Do they have some fetish with warrior to put most damage into last hit or what?

Also i believe they don’t know their own game.

Meanwhile as community we left unaswered while some dev comments a fake dragon finisher..not sure if srly?

This is my problem exactly. I and many others said why the “problem” with combustive shot existed. It was because of the furious trait giving adrenaline on crits, per target hit by the crit.
I have tried out a lot today to new combustive shot, and oh my gosh….it is so painfully slow pulse rate. In comparison, the Elementalist’s fire attack #2 with staff, lava font, pulses every single second. Now I have to ask, for wvw and pvp, who in the right mind is going to stand in the middle of the full level combustive shot fire field, for all 9 seconds??? Not me that’s for sure.
And the best part is, this did not even solve the problem Anet said was for the change in the first place (only a tiny bit). If you have the furious trait, you will still get the bonus adrenaline for each target hit by the pulse. So IF you are lucky enough to have 5 enemies willingly stand in your fire field for 9 seconds and have a good crit rate, then you will be back to full adrenaline again.
I have said I before and will say it again: Change combustive shot’s adrenaline gain to be exactly the same way that main hand sword Flurry works, which does not generate any adrenaline from any of the hits.

All suggestions concerning combustive shot shared the same idea: 15% here or there doesn’t matter, but either leave the tick intervals be or decrease them. The exact opposite happened.

The only burst skill that was worth using in PvE was turned into garbage.

Why? Because generating 0 adrenaline was just too much in PvP.

Meanwhiles, the trait which made it imbalanced remains untouched. Seriously?

Understand that when anet looks at a skill for balancing, they assume you are taking a 30/30/30/30/30 build with all trait equipped.

The best weapons end up being the ones that don’t have many traits.

Look at what they did to ranger . Everyone was complaining how spirits are boring yet they gave us another spirit . And they nerfed our endurance regen while randomly buffing useless traits that are still useless . Nothing on more active condition removal either

Frankly I don’t mind the changes too much, they suck but we all knew they were going to suck. What I didn’t appreciate was the total lack of discussion/explanation of any of this or of broad strokes of what their goals are for the classes. Particularly in light of this new push being made toward community communication :/

Their bat, their ball..their game. What can you do? It only mildy affects PvE..as for PvP, well it’s a quasi nerf-repurposing.
