The 1v1 Warrior
None of those “warrior is bad” rumors are true, a good Warrior can stomp anyone in WvW, except D/D Eles (I just killed one after dealing 57k total damage to him, lol Anet really?) and P/D thieves (you just run away).
I actually look for 1vs2s at least.
The answer to win WvW is GS+sword/board or axe/board for me.
You have a great burst with HB/WA/Rush, and nullify damage with EP/Sblock.
All you need to do is set up your HB properly, but HB isn’t really necessary more like a tool to win faster (or a challenge to yourself, setting up a good HB is satisfying).
You DPS him until he’s forced to blow up all his dodges and CDs (if he doesn’t he will die to your DPS), then you flurry/frenzy/HB or Bull/frenzy/HB.
But it takes a lot of practice to become good with it.
I think I mastered this playstyle when I was around 3k kills.

Thanks for the response! I agree that there is way too much bandwagoning and people making blanket statements about the capabilities of each class. I have much respect for innovators and those who find a way to make it work. I will continue my research into this subject
Don’t know about wvw, but in tPvP/spvp 1v1 warriors are not viable unless you’re goign up against a class without any stunbreaks.

9 – Bolas (Primarily to waste condition removers, but if they are caught on CD, instant win with HB to the fact)
10 – SoR
With an insane amount of cripples, knock downs, stuns, etc… I find this build highly effective.
In WvWvW, you can chase anyone down easily w/ #5 GS + Bull’s Rush.
In organized Dueling, it’s all about patience. You just need to learn to move around and utilize the excellent mobility of the GS until you can strike with the Hammer as an opener. It all depends on the situation though.

Crit damage Hammer / Greatsword is really satisfying to play.
At the moment I have 0/10/25/10/25 and am standing in 81% crit damage which makes hammer damage go all nuts. I have bull’s charge in my utility bar, but I don’t use it unless I get to come from behind.
The CC and mobility of Hammer / GS is just amazing and fun to utilize. I have had a lot of good duels with this build also. Ofcourse there are stuff that break me like constant confusion and so, but you can’t always have everything.
What I am most satisfied is the fact that this build actually works in 1vX, small scale and even medium to large size battles. 5 unaware invaders caught under my Hammer burst get down pretty fast because of the 100% crit chance while they are stunned.

I just posted it to show how the build works, didn’t mean that guy is the pr0ezt wuri0r in da gam3z.
Plus commands are really subjective; I personally laugh at any Warrior using WASD instead of managing movement with one button through gaming mice but that’s me.

I like the looks of this, and I think I have seen a video of this in action. I got my War to 80 yesterday, so I am going to give this a shot. My setup will look something like this (including consumables):

The hammer trait only gives you bonus damage against actual stunned foes which only comes from your hammer 5 attack which is slow and has a long recharge so that trait isn’t worth taking.
Deep strikes is a terrible trait. Your only signet should be of rage and it should never be active.
GS 3 and 5 give you enough gap closing abilities to not need that tiny bit of movespeed along with 1 sec immo on gs 4 and axe 3 both of which are projectiles helping you close the gap easier.
Your main source of burst is the Bulls charge, frenzy 100b combo which when used effectively tears through almost anything. The key is timing, wait till they’ve popped their stun breaks and dodges, get close and destroy them. You can bait most squishy classes into popping a stun break with gs 4 + 3 and axe 3 + shield bash followed up with an eviscerate then they’re vulnerable to your real dps.
That’s the standard build if you want to be a threat in 1v1. I’ve never lost to a hammer war with it.
I incorrectly had the signet trait, when I intended for the +50% crit chance vs stunned enemies (Unsuspecting Foe). I edited my link.
Also, both stuns and knockdowns count as disables, right? So shouldn’t both Back Breaker and Earthshaker trigger that trait?
Oh my bad i was thinking of the 50% vs stunned foes. >.> Merciless hammer is a must in hammer build and unsespecting foe isn’t worth it.
