We all need to wait until the dust settles. But I got condibursted by some burning spec yesterday, literally 100-0 in 2 seconds. Waiting is no fun.

I have not purchased the expansion, and I won’t until I know what direction they are taking the game. Right now, it is purely based on how good your reaction time is, which is less enjoyable to me.

I only state my opinion unless stated otherwise.

Would be way to early to make balance changes now. People are trying out new builds, reacting to new threats obviuosly take some time. It will take some more time until we will know where we really stand, what needs to be changed and what is fine as is.

Rush is slow now, but is that really a reason to retire your warrior? Everything else is much faster now, warrior finally is a melee dps class again, not a group support bot. I don’t mind about a minor movement setback when everything else feels better now.

game is not very interesting right now…. pvp and wvw is just broken with all this condi damage. I was on my war in sPvP and got destroyed by 2 guards in about 5 seconds. The death stats showed 45K burn damage hah. So ive just been goofing around in PVE. Im not really interested in making/testing too many builds when they may or may not be obsolete once Anet finally gets around to finishing balancing.

This also means i cant make new gear since we dont know what is optimal until major balancing is finished.

As a poster wrote above, game isnt fun when winning or losing is based on reaction time or who can get the first shot in. Winning should be based on skill which is a combination of rotations/reactions and clever counterplay and not who gets the first hit in from stealth or range or whatever.

how is fast reaction time not a skill?

you might as well have just said “the game isn’t fun when i’m losing”, it would make you come across a lot more honest.

So is landing 1/2 seconds through 10 million evades to be honest. But at the same time, I feel like this game was too late on becoming a well-known “fun” game. It’s starting to be better but it’s probably never gonna compete with HotS or smite at least.

you don’t like an action game having fast reaction time being one of the big skills required

then why are you even playing?

I am gonna disregard your obvious attempt at drawing me out and hopefully enlighten you a bit.

What about knowledge of classes and skills?

What about positioning? Using terrain to your advantage?

What about crafting builds?

These are all very important skills in every other action game I play. Yet in the current version of GW2, all these are so inferior to reaction time that it is becoming less fun to play, to me. And to a lot of other people as well. I do talk to others about this. I am no MLG player, but I always managed to do alright in the area of the game that I enjoy. I used to be able to compensate my inferior reaction time with above stated skills along other things. That seems less and less possible.

IMO it is not ‘one of the big skills required’, it is by far most important skill to have right now, too important.

errr, no. knowledge of classes, skill and positioning are all important. if you go against someone on a point and don’t know what their skills do then you’re just going to be running around like a headless chicken randomly dodging. once you learn what their abilities do then it makes it a lot easier for you to mitigate their bursts or interrupt their defensive skills. understanding the burst patterns of thieves and mesmers for example means that even if they stealth you’ll be able to make an educated guess of when they’ll start hitting you again and dodge/block/invuln accordingly.

Build crafting is irrelevant when you can just look up good builds for whatever class you play in a game, which is what I do, and then adjust them accordingly dependent on team composition if need be.

the tl;dr is basically that you play an action game that requires fast reflexes and you don’t like it because your reflexes are slower and therefore you lose more than you win. and that’s cool, nobody likes losing. just don’t try to pretend justifying yourself with poor, incorrect reasoning when you simply just don’t like losing.

i love people posting about wvw; you don’t even what equip he has.
WvW is a reference, but not very usefull. Post how you burst some one in pvp with egual equip lvl and skill, afterwards you can say no.

And what exactly are you saying with these videos? Warrior can be played for melee dps in spvp now. Before the patch you were forced to play Shoutbow if you wanted to win the match.

People that are happy tend to post a lot less on the forum, so don’t assume it unanimous.

I for one like the changes, however some things need rebalancing and reordering.

Winning should be based on skill which is a combination of rotations/reactions and clever counter-play and not who gets the first hit in from stealth or range or whatever.

This is similar to my sentiment of the game post patch. The amount of burst damage the new patch introduced has made the first strike of a fight the deciding factor more often than not. Classes with teleport, range, or stealth hold the upper hand as they are able to deal burst damage all the while minimizing the risk of counterattack. Pre-patch this was countered by having high amounts of mobility and the ability to spec into a tankier build to absorb the initial barrages from burst classes.

However, the decrease in movement abilities has severely hampered the Warriors ability to stay within melee range. Having higher levels of toughness and vitality appear to be irrelevant due to the amount of damage output available to most classes.

Overall, I agree this is still very early into a new phase of the game. Specs are still being tested out. Personally, I used to run GS + S/Shield, but now I seem to be leaning towards using either rifle or longbow in order to keep my opponents engaged at all times.

Hopefully the Warrior community will keep developing new tactics and specs to counter these new challenges.
