Hi everyone,
I’m leveling my warrior and nearly have all the mats together (with my guardian) for the legendary rifle “The predator” (just need 50 more obsidian shards), also have the precursor already. I went for it, because the predator is the best-looking legendary imho.
Since I don’t play my engineer anymore, because I don’t like the fact, that I may not make any mistakes and use all my skills quickly to get near the dps of other classes (though engineers are powerful in PVP), I thought of my warrior and giving predator to him.
The last days I was reading this forum and became hesitant, just because everyone seems to moan about the warrior and its weeknesses.

So here’s my question: If I plan to do 60% PVE (dungeons), 30% WvW-Zerg and 10% WvW-smallgroup/solo, is it a good idea to
1. take a warrior and
2. give him the predator?

My dream-combo would be Rifle / Axe+Horn… is there a valid build for the things I’d like to do? Or should I just sell the predator, because I will never use it with my warrior when its underpowered or something?

The good thing about Gw is you can be what you want to be…. IF you want to be a rifle warrior then be one.

And the bad thing is that other players don’t really care what you want to be.

The biggest issue warriors have is specifically PvP. s/tPvP, where, due to the nature of the mode, their lack of sustain becomes very obvious.

In WvW they’re not “top tier”, and they have issues ANet should (and hopefully will) fix, but they’re hardly unusable.

Rifle, specifically, is quite useful in WvW, and a weapon my warrior rarely goes into the mists without.

I’m currently using a sword/axe + Shield with a Rifle on switch build, but I’m thinking of trying a more rifle based build – go for Burst Mastery for those 8 second cooldown killshots.

The biggest thing to remember with the rifle is that it’s a “yomi” weapon. Both killshot and Volley can be avoided if just used “head on”. The trick is to bait your enemy into burning their defensive cooldowns (faking out killshot is amazing at it), then burning them down once they’re out of defenses. Don’t be afraid to miss volley, it has a low enough cooldown when traited to be spammed.

Also remember that both killshot and volley are channels. So they will track targets through stealth. If you think a thief/mesmer are about to stealth, especially if they’re out of rolls, go nuts.

As a warrior you do better in groups (even small groups) than solo-roaming.

Don’t worry about it. Unless you want to play in the competitive tPvP scene the warrior is definitely viable.

Warriors are the best profession for PvE (Guardian is pretty close imo), they are really good for zerg fights (I like hammer but rifle is good too, gl dodging a Kill Shot in zergs ) and you can roam solo as well.

If you like the rifle gameplay and you know you want to play your warrior a lot I would definitely give him the predator.

I used a rifle for a very long time on my warrior. But eventually i switched to a longbow and tried that out for my ranged weapon. And after a little bit i found out that i like the longbow better :P

Never get a type of weapon only because the legendary looks so great. You actually need to have fun using it.

I hate to say this and I do not mean to undermine your efforts but does it matter? Do you like rifle warrior? If you do then the skin is there for you amusement not ours.

I actually working on it for my charr war. If u like it, go for it.

Predator was designed for warriors.

I don’t know why lb is so great for some ppl, if thats bc of immo id say no big deal as anyone with halfbrain remove it, leaving us with 1 blind and 1 slow projective.

Burst ability? Great on pve, not so much in pvp. Dual Shot has its + and -. Sure its gives 2x chance to proc, but when ur enemy pops up retaliation you also getting 2x hits.

Volley is great to force enemy to use his cd abilities/dodge. When trained its pretty spamable evi. Killshot is meh, i agree here.

In fact its up to u. If u like they way its looks and u have fun with it make one. I know i like it for my eyecandy and i dont care what someone have to say. Its ur toon, desing it ur own way

i personally dont like the look of pred, i like hunter better, but as far as LB goes, the F1 skill in zergs just causes everyone to panic. countless times there is a zvz and me and a few friends bust out longbows and we push the enemy zerg way back because everyone is like, “ERMAHGAWD! IM ON FIRE WHAT DO I DO!?”

I’m also going for Predator.

A common set for Warriors are Greatsword+Rifle, so that makes Rifle a very commonly used weapon for you. Enjoy!
