The video that started warriors demise
sounds about right….unbelievable how arrogant they are when they declare something is “balanced” and other people are “wrong”
(edited by wolfie.7296)
They don’t know they can move while attacking. Or spec for tanking. Or do anything…

Warrior and rangers are the baseline classes. If your class can kill them, it is balanced. If it can’t, that class needs a buff.
vitality being of whack for points spent compared to anything else in game.
Hmmm. Got me thinking on a new warrior trait…
50% of your Vitality is used in place of the sources Healing Power when receiving a heal.

By that standard no class would need to get any more buffs.
Ever.

Ya there are all kinds of good ways to get Vitality up to snuff, I would like to see minor traits in the tree do useful stuff like -10 to 20% condition duration.
Right now putting points into tactic tree is pretty crippling, on top of vitality really under performing to give warriors “a sturdy body”.
Eles, thieves, guardians and mesmers all have the tools to do melee pushes, warrior really can only do it with guardian giving protection and going in with zerg and avoiding being targeted.
It blew me away that rogue got pulls and not warrior, typically you would think rogue would be a tad higher dps, but warrior had more survival and utility (protecting group, pulls, etc)
I am at a loss to see their vision beyond their original idea of giving us burst mechanics, then not wanting us to burst or do anything else. soldier runes and warhorn is underwhelming for team benfits.
At launch the devs told us,“I swing sword, I swing my sword again. thats not fun” they should have said, “I swing my sword and wait for its animation, I swing my sword and wait for its animation. This is not fun”
They got the not fun part right
(edited by dooger.2640)
Warrior wasn’t even overpowered in beta. Most of the people in those “omg warriors r op” videos don’t even dodge and are mostly specialized as glass cannons. The problem is they nerfed a class based on the lowest common denominator, once people started specializing to avoid burst and learned warrior animations it made the class underpowered, and has remained that way since release. The only Warrior nerf that was ever needed was quickness (frenzy) nerf, and that wasn’t warrior specific or because it was overpowered. It is because it holds the class back from being properly balanced. Personally I would have just removed all the quickness stuff.

All classes in every game need work, most software can use tuning. Generalizing excuses to make poor effort OK is part of today’s education system, but after a year of no progress its time to both start making progress and talking to community.

Ranger is not on the lvl of warriors dont even dare to implify that.

The part where he ‘escaped’ with bleeds on him and like 300hp? lol ya… he’s pretty bad if you watch closely too, the 2 rangers early on that he ‘breaks combat’ with (didn’t drop combat, just broke LoS) he hits his heal with like half a second of poison left.
From this videos i can see that they nerfed damage and armor of warriors a lot.
Pretty much destroyed the class really.
Anyone who thinks wars wont broken back then didn’t play Beta. Warrior burst line provided 1% extra damage on burst, Eviscerate did more damage than it did now, + there were other sigils and traits that boosted wars damage much more. Old divinity runes ect ect. Yes they overnerfed warriors but don’t claim something didn’t exist. It’s like claiming ranger GS damage was fine back then basing on how it is currently.

Ya… but you could still evisc now harder than he was. The people he’s playing against are just trash cuz it’s so early in the game.
Lesson learned. Anet has become terrible at pvp balance and -as was made clear this past year- PVE always comes first.
Doubtful I would buy any future Anet products or ones with the devs from this team hired to work on it in the pvp aspect.
One of the worst pvp balances in the history of any game.
Warriors get nerfed based on beta fottage of inexperienced players fighting a warrior? Look at that video..they barely moved or dodged out of the warrior’s path.
Look at the threads complaining of thieves in WvW and how the devs handle it: Stealth traps to make them more money. How many of you buy those traps?
Truly inept.
I just want to point out that his 10k eviscerates could still be done pre June patch.
Just infuriating. Necros were in the same boat as us, and now they are having their time in the limelight. While we needed as much help and got kitten on. (I don’t want to be as strong as the necros are now) but kitten our combat is so kitten slow, clunky, and blatantly inferior to classes like Mesmer, guardian, and engineer.

Firstly, that was just humor. My fault that maybe it was a little too subtle.
Secondly, lol. You’re implying that no class can beat a warrior or ranger? Really?

Moldran was running a pretty balanced spec (20 to 30 points in defence) in beta actually and could still push out these numbers. "OP"’ness was due to beta doom (30% on next attack)+int sigil with no ICD and beta brawn that enabled to push out such numbers without being full glass. And of course the tiny tiny thing that no-one knew how to dodge/stunbreak/block/evade extremely telegraphed attacks in beta.
Almost 2k damage from axe auto attack swings, and 11k Evis. There really is no reason damage should be that high, and i’m glad it’s not like that right now. If anything this video shows how little value armor has. The Guardians were taking the highest hits lol.
Also I’’m not sure what some of you guys are on about. The devs communicate with us rather well, and the game is more balanced than it has been in the past. Maybe i’m just a fan boi, but I enjoy the game, and I think it has evolved nicely since beta. You can’t expect dramatic changes with the snap of a finger.
I think Warriors was not OP. The fact is the Warrior was projected to give huge dmg and kill the enemy before he can use his tons of means.
Looking the video, we can see warrior’s hp falling down too easily, and he are using sheld.
If the dmg are nerfed and the fight lasts, warrior ends for no have means of sustain the fight, and ends dying.
This are hapen today!
If Anet don’t want warrior too stronger, they need compensate the huge nerf dmg with a huge sustain improvement.

No the devs don’t communicate with us well, its called not at all, zero zip.
Dramatic changes at a snap of the fingers? the video is over a year old.
Will it take 4-5 years to give the warrior on par survivability? 7-8? 100? we dont know as we have heard zero, zip, nothing post patch.
I swing my sword (and wait for the broken animation), I swing my sword again (and wait for the broken animation), guess what? thats not fun.
I like the game despite its faults, if they fix the bad game play I might even be able to get my guild to come back. Something is wrong when highend hardcore pvp/rvr guilds just laugh and leave.

Perhaps you’ve been living under a rock so I will enlighten you. Every month we get a video stream hosted by a community member named Grouch. It’s called “State of the Game” which features at least 1 dev. They answer all types of questions, probably even some questions that you would like answered. I’ve only played a hand full of MMOs and some other games, but I have never seen developers actually communicate with the community as well as Arena Net does. Maybe what they talk about is not what you want to hear, but it’s communication nonetheless. They also let us know that they see our suggestions and complaints on the forums, and care about what we have to say. They just recently announced their team will be working on content patches with turn around times of 2 weeks. What am I missing here?
I’m aware that video is over a year old. There have been many patches and balance changes since this video. Yes it has it taken some time to get Warrior into a competitive place, but Warrior is in a very good spot now. I’m confident we will see real viability shortly. They know our #1 problem is sustainability. In the last State of the Game they mentioned some ways they will help u with this issue.
I don’t know which high-end PvP guilds are laughing and leaving the game. You might not know this, but the community plays almost equally important part as the developers do in growing and maintaining a strong community. These high-end players sound very low-class. Yes there are bugs in the game, and some quirks during combat, but I have faith they’ll be ironed out. Nothing worth throwing a fit over.

It didn’t exist. Old divinity runes weren’t nerfed because of Warrior, they were nerfed because EVERYONE used them and there was no question what runes were best in sPvP. Warrior was fine in beta, and I did in fact play in the beta. I played Warrior, Guardian, Thief, Ranger, and Elementalist during beta weekends, and spent a lot of time in sPvP. The only people who thought Warriors were overpowered were the horde of players specializing pure glass cannon who didn’t know how to dodge. Sure, if dodge didn’t exist and everyone was specialized glass cannon, Warriors would have been overpowered. Warrior was nerfed because of bad players whining in beta events. That is all there is to it.

You are delusional to think warrior damage was fine back then. I dare you pull off this kind of damage now while using points in the defense line like in this video. No divinity runes werent nerfed due to wars but it was just another thing that added to warriors damage. Crit damage on amulets were also higher. You could pick any trait you wanted with just 10 points into a line also. The incarnation of the warrior in beta with the old mechanics was OP plain and simple. Its a different and more balanced game now.

Warrior spike damage was too high in beta, and was too high in highly certain situations b4 June 24 th patch.
I gotta 21.5k Rifile crit in wvw before the June patch, yes its in glass gear and requires every buff and debuff be perfect on a glass target. Its still too high of a burst.
It does not change the fact Warriors could not take a hit back then, and still really cant today. 1 year is too long, sorry no more excuses from fanbois.
Again zero communication from devs, I am sure they are talking about new garbage pve being dropped every 2 weeks now.

I would enjoy burst abilities being a little more conservative offering a decent attack damage/effect and taking longer to reach max adrenaline. The fact you can reach max adrenaline so fast from signet of fury, Furious, sharpened axes, cleansing ire, and the others I am missing dilutes the burst ability idea. In the video eviscerate damage was high but it wasn’t because axe needed toning down it was because they made adrenaline so easily accessible. Ten seconds or less to prep an eviscerate, not to mention there wasn’t a shared cool down when he weapon swapped, regardless that it was axe again. If they wanted to make warriors deadly without being overpowered then should have dialed back adrenaline gain making a burst abilities less used but maintaining their potentcy.
I’d also promote more ways to mitigate damage via weapons. More stuns, dazes, and blocks on a shorter cool down making combat more exciting than popping a shout granting 10 seconds of protection or passive ways to obtain regeneration. The guardian class has that part down and it’s boring.

I looked up the 3 of you on the leader boards to see if any of you played tpvp, but I found nothing. Hoelbrak runes, Cleansing Ire, Signet of Stamina, and Berserker Stance are all great ways to deal with the condition meta. Contrary to what you may believe, Warrior does have condition removal. If you’re not using Longbow with Cleansing Ire, you should reconsider. If you’re still using Bulls Charge + Frenzy + 100b, then yes, it will miss 80% of the time. Running full offensive build relying on that one maneuver is going to get you no where. There are some players that have builds around here that do work, and they can be personalized to work even better for YOU.
I like how every single person assumes we’re running full zerk frenzy-100b whenever arguing against a Warrior player who thinks the class is bad in pvp.
Like seriously there is a whole thread dedicated to class power rankings and warrior is constantly put dead last. By people who don’t play warrior. A lot of people.
[looking at vids]
i miss my +30% crit dmg, berserker power + heightened focus, 100% frenzy , 100% eviscrate and maybe.. omnom berry… =’(

So what do you do in your employment at arenanet?
Lol this is pretty funny, I was going to respond with a long explanation of things, but it’s clear you don’t have any idea of how the warrior class performs in Any type of pvp or WvW, with all the teleport, evasion, blind, and condie spam.
Did you watch the last state of the game? Please enlighten me on what communication you saw about the warrior. I saw devs tryi g to completely ignore the class as they were embarassed, and move on.
Warrior in a good spot eh? To look at a 15 page thread in the SPVP forums called class rank list. You will see the warrior at THE BOTTOM for every post for the last 8 months. It’s embarrassing what this profession has become. You would think the devs would at least bump us up Into viable tier BY ACCIDENT.

Spvp lol, pure garbage, it already failed, amazing they even bother leaving it in the game.
love it when a nub who just learned about hoelbrak runes shows up and runs his mouth on the builds nubs just started running. been running hoelbrak for months, glad you are catching up.

Sure mats its just us 3, not the 14+ pages of SPVP players ranking warriors Dead last. Which you completely dodged in my first post of the SPVP RANKING THREAD.
I played TPVP when paid tourneys were out and we played hard, I played warrior in the meta with few warriors. When the seen went to kitten our team imploded, and i became frustrated. I have 250+ tourney wins under my belt (not bragging because I know that’s not a lot now, as I have taken a break from TPVP, until recently) but its enough to know the difference with the warrior class and the rest. I played WvW hard core for the time in between, and just recently started getting back to the TPVP scene, and I am not running full glass now. You know hoelbrak runes and me laundry runes are available to everyone right? Naming it off like it is warrior specific is not helping you. I always run signet of stamina. Considering the fact that there are Countless threads on the SPVP forums complaining about conditions, from classes such as ele and guardian (good condie removers), shows that you don’t read the SPVP forums which is the pulse of pvp.
I have played my warrior, as well as EVERY other class, in all types of pvp, and I have a well rounded view of the warrior in all aspects of how it performs. I have every class minus engie at 80 and it’s glaringly obvious to anyone with experience, the huge difference in response and animation times from the warrior and every other class.

@Copenhagen: It would be better for your blood pressure to just ignore folks like these. Warrior might not be in as good of a place as it could be right now, but Warriors could become imbalanced terrors of the tPvP scene, and some of these folks would still be talking about how unviable they are. Then they’ll talk about how the game is dead (still) and everyone is (still) leaving.
Nothing new to see here, grousers gonna grouse.
Also, watching people not dodge anything ever in that video makes me laugh.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
oh man those days, to think that we used sigil of intelligence to get 100% crits on swapped eviscerates lol
I do agree that warriors are unfortunately bottom tier right now for organized play and need something, but they are not so far off the mark like they once were.
Also, hi @Copenhagen! I fought against you a couple times earlier this morning, and I was impressed.

All cop outs. Yes, I do agree there will always be someone complaining, and if you went too far buffing any class (not just warrior) they would be OP.
I like they toned down burst a bit, and i like several of the changes. It does not change the fact that warriors still really cant take a punch well.
It does not take 6 months of testing this to provide feedback & updated plan.
Hell maybe they will even make tab targeting not select every pet on the map first before players. Maybe they will get warriors inline.. OR maybe they are focused on pve patches every 2 weeks and are done worrying about pvp. I dont know, but love to hear.
