(HINT: it’s not a 2H axe)
Very few build, in all classes, goes full melee. In any 1v1 against some1 who uses range , which is basically any1 but some warriors, you can clearly feel the disadvantageous by a clear dps cut while being kited.
This is well known, kitten many warrior choose to have 1 range weapon: which of we have two: the rifle and the longbow. Now to put it simply – the rifle sucks (yes yes beside some very niche builds).
So, although warrior have the biggest weapon selection almost every other warrior run with the Longbow. So beside that is limiting and boring it also leads to it being nerfed (ty Anet).
What weapon can save the day you ask? a ranged 1hander main hand.
Beside it giving warriors another range weapon, it will also open up a lot of
builds as u can combined it with 1 of the 4 off hander we got that see very little use atm.
Personally I would be glad even if we wont get a new weapon but just make the axe auto attack ranged , same as the ranger. The axe current auto attack is 1 boring skill anyhow and since the nerf its not very good anyhow.
Axe auto attack as range skill o.O, why even bother buying 3 other weapons or use your other 2 skills. That chain is all you need to kitten pretty much everything.
Not very good? If you land the last hit, which ain’t even hard, the DPS is still incredibly high.
If axe goes to range weapon, you’ll need some serious DPS cuts. And the warriors mobility is there to counter kiting. He is build and designed to be able to resist kiting.

they will not give us a 1-hand ranged weapon that would compete with rifle or longbow. And since its dmg would suck so bad people wouldn’t use it except for niche builds. At best you can expect is an offhand ranged weapon like boomerang/chakram type weapon that would off more utility. But tbh, what more are you going to find for utility on an offhand that isn’t given currently? A pull skill perhaps?
