Third stat: Condition or Critdamage?
Condition damage isn’t what it’s cracked up to be right now. Using level 80 gear stated for condition, my warrior’s bleed was doing 73 per tick. Without condition damage bonus, it was doing 46-50. I’d say go with vit or toughness for survivability.
Khyron, You were only doing 73 per tick with condition gear, how? I think I only have it on a rare sword or shield, as a minor trait and base I bleed 62 or so. When I use, signet of rage and signet of might that jumps up to 79-81 per tic.
Monki, speaking from a purely PvE (and a little WvW) perspective. I run a sword/shield with a bow and I use either exotic magic find or knight’s armor. You’re right there can be a problem with condition dam right now. For big group events, such as the dragons lts, it can be pretty useless if you aren’t the first one to get in the bleeds. Heck even in a dungeon with another person bleeding the two of you can be fighting each other. Also since each point of con dam only adds 0.05 bleed dam, you can’t really split your gear between con dam and crit dam.
But on the other hand, a sword is more of a con dam weapon than it is a power weapon. And with your burst and auto attack and crits giving them, I’d say go for con damage. For a sec I was confused at your 16% crit chance, then I realized that you didn’t have any gear on. My crit chance is somewhere in the 45% +/- 5% range and with the sword trait to give an extra +10%, burst getting +10%, and having fury from signet of rage I do crit a lot, but I feel that in general the extra bleed damage will be more useful than crit damage.
Also if you’re criting for 1k (for easy math) adding an extra 10% crit damage will only bump your damage to 1.1k where say you can add 200 con damage (I think it’s closer to 400 for a secondary stat but I don’t have my spreadsheet here) you’re adding 10 damage per bleed per second. With a high precision (and the extra bleed time trait) build its easy to keep up 10 stacks of bleeding with just your auto so I think you’d do more damage with con dam in general. Just don’t expect to be as useful in larger PvE fights or if you have another heavy bleeder in your group. But that’s what your bow AoE burn and might boon is for.
right now I got 490 Con Damage. And depending on might which I apply fequently via Bow burst combo my cons tick around 65-85 per tick (in dungeons). I have not much Con damage on gear right now so I doubt that yours tick for 73 when going full Con.
Is it true that Cons ignore enemy armor? If so that would be a + because crits are dimished by armorvalue afaik.
From my feeling I’d go for con but the mentioned issues concerns me. Had a Necro in a PUG and we where at 21+ Bleedingstacks almost all the time.
If Axe had the gapcloser sword offers the case would be much easier: Axe=Crits. :-r
Which runes should I use?
Knights looks good but can you have too much defense?
Mad King looks nice too but I guess its hard to get after the event.
might i suggest prec/tough/cond gear you can acquire from orr or from dungeons?
using a mh sword and longbow, i would def recommend cond over crit dmg
yes, conditions ignore armor. a high health pool and cond removal is the only mitigation. having constant 21 stacks is perfectly fine. bleeds are only ‘wasted’ when the cap is stuck at 25, that means that someones bleeds are being overwritten by a player with higher condition dmg
(and ps, playing as a cond spec warrior, i dont find the bleed cap to be too big of an issue because war has a high enough base dmg to be able to make up for the loss of dps due to the cap)

I thought about getting 3 piece of Pure Defense gear (Power/Tough/Vit) and 3 piece of pure offense gear (Power/Prec/(cond)).
Dunno what jewelery to use.. either a defense one or if I think I got enough more offensive ones. Hvaent got all the defense pieces I want so I cant say if its enough yet.
What base Values of HP and Tough would you guys suggest?
Still do not know what runes to get.
Hoelbrak seems like a option: Power, 20%Mightuptime(combined with tactic line its 50%) and reduced condition duration. Does anyone have expirience with it?
I would say that condition damage is not that useful unless you really want to focus on bleeds as a source of damage in your build. If this is the case, I would point you to Yojack’s guide in this forum. The idea behind that build is that you can run all rampager’s gear (power/precision/cond), and use regeneration from your adrenaline (talent) + heal signet + sup. sigil of blood in your weapons to give a really good amount of tankiness/survivability. Your bleeds tick pretty high – I was getting about 95 a tick if I remember correctly, and you can stack them pretty fast. It is definitely very viable/good when I tried it out, but was really not what I was going for. On the contrary, if you are not really going for an all out condition build, I think you would be better off going crit damage. Getting a few points more of damage on bleeds when you are not focused on putting many stacks on your target is not going to have much effect.

condition warrior is kinda bad, I’ve been trying it out for a month now and I have to say that you have far better options.
I usually don’t approve of glass cannon builds especially for warriors unless you are sticking with range weapons only. But if you were to go pure offense go Power, precision, crit damage.
Currently have full Power/Vit/Condition armor with 2 power/precision/condition accessories and similar backpack and my ticks are around 80ish damage, 87 with my condition damage rifle. (No condition damage trait) although I did try 25 points in the condition damage trait once and the ticks were around 94 damage reaching slightly over 100 with the might signet active.
An being condition based also limits your weapon options to always having a sword in one of your hands which to be honest gets boring after a while even if you are hopping everywhere.

Interesting, I use many sets of gear on my warrior, one set is prec/tough/condition armor with Power/vit/Condition jewelry sword shield combo and 0/30/30/0/10 traits.
if they come out with prec/tough/condition jewelry I will pick those up but my bleeds still hit at 95-100+ @ lvl 80…
