Guild Wars 2

So, I play a D/D Thief in sPvP most of the time. I usually can handle Warriors okay – if I can’t take them down, I can usually manage to get away from them. But not this guy. This guy continually kicked my a** across the map.

I’ve figured out a good portion of the build, but I’m curious what the rest of this build involved.

It was Axe + Shield/Greatsword. Healing Signet, Dolyak Signet, Berserker Stance, Endure Pain, Signet of Rage.

He managed to take little damage, deal out a respectable DPS, have around 27k health, and also throw out some conditions (especially Chill). I assume the Chill was a result of a Sigil of Hydromancy.

But what about the rest of it? Is this a common build that I’m just missing? What are the traits/runes that go with this build?

Shield sigil may vary and amulet is Barbarian (power + perc + vitality*) if there are necros or engis (high condition spammers in general).

*main stat

Honestly, though, it’s pretty cheese especially in zergy games. Just run around auto attacking and fall asleep, lol.

PS: Did the build have quickness at all?

I’d say it’s a 0/10/30/0/30 build. PVT armour and probably a mix between zerker and the zerker with vitality accessories. Big damage output on crits (axe auto end chain crits for 6k with 3k normal hits).

Usually has a hammer but can imagine GS doing good damage with it. Key is to make him pop cooldowns as they are long. However he will probably kite if pressure is put on without endure pain.

Hydromancy is slowing becoming the normal sigil

Thanks for this info. That’s what I was leaning toward, but wasn’t sure if he would have put 20+ into Strength for Berserker’s Power or Axe Mastery or Great Fortitude. Seemed to have a lot of damage and health.

I successfully dealt a good amount of damage to him, but never seemed to keep up the pressure long enough to take him down. He was definitely a skilled player, but had a great build to back it up.

Well I run that build and I have around 65% critical chance with 80% critical damage. So you will be hit hard and it’s not just big initial damage, it’s constant damage so it’s tough to get away from it. I sit at roughly around 28k health with stacks. It’s a good build in the right hands.

Better question. What is YOUR build? Please link, with armor and everything. A lot of the times, people complain because they run full Glass Cannon and wonder why a Warrior build designed to take down glass cannons are dominating them.

Ha, I run the same build on my war when roaming. Axe shield is a great set to roam with. I usually run with bulls charge for a KD, and mix the others. I use the GS for mobility and fast DPS when invader is KD.

As someone said, PVT with beserker trinkets. Using a maintenance stone for precision

Gonna rain on the parade a bit… the OP’s question was, I think, for sPvP, not WvW. As we know, you can get a lot higher stats in the latter than the former. Would it still be the same (Soldier Amulet with Berkserker gem?) in PvP?

It would not be nearly the same :P

Zerker amulet + zerk jewel (Or Valks Jewel) with 30 in defence + doly signet is still a VERY good 2700 armor, more if you go with a toughness runset like Melandru.

This seems very similar to what I saw. Probably the closest I’ve seen, but I felt like the other War had more Toughness than this produces. But without trying it out, I guess I don’t know for sure.

I’ll definitely give this a shot tonight, as it’s the closest to what I had in mind so far. Thanks very much for sharing! I’ll add you and let you know how it goes! Appreciate the support from everyone.

If you don’t use your stability, you are sitting at around 2.5-2.6k toughness plus 3 regens. Healing Signet + Adren Regen + Trait Proc (when immob and such).

The only reason why I asked about quickness because I have been messing with a variant of the build which hits hard and “quick”. Far less tanky than that build though.

^I would say this, but instead of zerker amulet they used barbarian amulet with either valk/zerker/cleric jewel if they had approx 27K health.

Without knowing how often they landed crits on you and what their movement speed was and a few other minor details it is hard to accurately state, but this most likely resembles the build fairly closely.
