Over the past month I’ve been trying to completely understand Warrior. I’ve already done so on Mesmer, Thief and Elementalist. This leads me to trying various builds within the classes and seeing how effective they are, such as bunker, DPS, condition, and CC. I’ve had much success with my CC Warrior, but the transition to condition build has been less than good.

So to the point. My biggest woes that are consistent with Warrior is the lack of variety of conditions that allow for easy condition removal from opponents. Even with diversifying my conditions by using sword main hand for bleeds, cripple and immobilize, as well as the burning on longbow has left me puzzled on how to make this work well. Though I must admit, this is a problem most condition builds face in GW2 in nearly all classes, however Warrior seems unnaturally poor at it from my perspective.

I would like to know, if there is something I could to do better with conditions on Warrior. Perhaps I’m overlooking some important aspect or just playing poorly. Advice would be wonderful and appreciated.

They are unnaturally poor at condition builds. If you want to do condition damage, don’t take a warrior. Sword and Longbow are their only real condi weapons, and the split between condi and direct is such that you really don’t do much overall damage.

By the way, Combustive Shot does equivalent damage if you build pure power as if you built pure condition damage. Something that I learned too late.

Like you said we lack cover-conditions.
With some changes like Poison on third sword auto, Vuln on Savage Leap and weakness on Impale our conditions would be almost viable.
Almost, because condition builds rely on sustain, which we dont have.

a condition based warrior build will backfire against any class with easy access to condition removal

i.e, necro, ele, guardian, mesmer as the main culprits

thats pretty much half your matches that you have immediately put yourself at a huge disadvantage, not to mention thieves who can get rid of conditions through stealth and ranger through their pets

just add a couple of superior sigils of doom on each of your sets, and you have a free poison on each weapon swap.

I too am working on a condition warrior that I play in WvWvW. The lack of variety of conditions is the biggest limiting factor for me and sadly limits the type of encounters I can flourish in.

My warrior is sword/warhorn and longbow. I use full Rabid gear (trinket upgrades are Coral since no Rabid upgrade) with Runes of the Undead, Sigil’s of Earth (sword/bow) and a Sigil of Battle on the horn. My spec is currently 0/10/30/30/0 but I have had good luck with stealing from Defense to fatten out either Arms or Discipline. I use Rare Veggie Pizza and Master Tuning Crystals.

The build is strong at funnel points, wall clearing and wall/gate defending, OK at camp clearing (its a bit slow), but lacks in open field encounters or small 1vX encounters. I tend to not have a problem keeping up bleed and burn (even if cleared its easy to restick) but only 2 conditions doesn’t allow for enough damage to be decisive.

I have tried a variety of Sigils to gain additional conditions, but bleeds (Earth) has nice synergy with my traits so I stick with it. For utilities and as an Asura, I have played with Radiation Field (poison and weakness) but the 60s CD makes it impractical to depend on.

Even with the mediocre results on my condition warrior, I have to admit its a blast to play.

Ironically, the easiest class to beat with a condition Warrior is another Warrior. If they don’t have shout condition removal they relatively easy to beat. I think it’s fair to mention, outside of shout condition removal, Warrior has the worst/least condition removing abilities of the classes I’ve played.

The Superior Sigil of Doom has never worked for me in sPvP.

I did not create this build, but I have tested it over the weekend and found it to actually be very effective indeed. It’s petty funky and people just don’t expect it coming. For the first time, I feel comfortable roaming around solo on my warrior.

You can open with either set, they are both good for engaging. You have many ways to cause interrupt for confusion, and the superior sigils of Doom synergize well with the build. The condition duration food is key, as you can stack bleeds for ridiculous lengths of time with it. If you make sure to cripple, that’s another cover condition. You lack ranged options, but with the short cooldown on sword leap, and bull’s rush, plus cripple, I have not found sticking on the target to be too hard. It’s amazing when you block guardian who is spinning on you, or a thief using their steal on you…Mass burning. for zerg engagements, a longbow in place of mace/sword works.

I really like it a lot, and I only bought rare gear to test it out. With full exotics, it would only be better.

That’s never something I would have thought of, actually looks like it would be a good bit of fun to play around with. I would drop one of the sigils of corruption, that’s a bit silly but the rest of it is interesting.
