Trying to build a Hammer/rifle wvw build

I run rifle+Sw/Sh on my killshot build, you need something to be able to leg it sometimes and Sw/Sh provide that.

FGJ, Signet of power, Disc. banner, SoR elite.
Use the range of the rifle
Shoot into melee blobs and use the power signet to make it unblockable unless you’re going for absolute maximum damage.
I can confirm that now with asc. gear you can get the old pre nerf damage on rifle, last night I was hitting warriors for 21k with no bloodlust stacks or food/oil. I assume he was full zerk like I was, no idea.
If you want a balanced rifle build, then I’m not really the one to ask.
Usually I run in small groups my server isn’t the most populated one around.
I once though that it could be fun to try to make Hammer / Rifle build, but never got to it. But now I made something real quick and you could try to make it better by swapping some parts and trying to find gear / utilities you feel more safe with. But here goes anyways.
The basic idea is to have control over one enemy, most of the time. You can keep the enemy at range with bolas, crippling shot from rifle and rifle butt. Then when he gets close just swap to hammer and dish some Eartshakers and other stuff and so on. You should pretty much never use Killshot if your not really sure your going to land it (fleeing enemy), otherwise save it for ES.
Anyways, that’s something I came up real quick. Don’t blame me if it sucks in combat

I’ve never used such build, so wouldn’t be able to give proper feedback – but I like very much the ideas proposed by Paavotar! Here follows some possible variation of his build, including “Merciless Hammer” and “Burst Mastery”. As a personal preference, I have also decreased power and critical damage, in exchange for more critical chance.
If possible, get stacks of bloodlust before using the sigils set up in the build.

I’d go with Elegie’s build. Some traits are simply mandatory for roaming as a warrior.
I would advise not to use PVT, but rather use zerker, knight’s or cavalier. Vitality is a wasted stat on a warrior, IMO. If you have guard leech, you can reach ~22k HP with 0 vitality invested.
Also, be ready to die. Without mobility (and this build has none), you will get overrun often. It would be a good idea to take bull’s rush instead of kick, jut for this reason. Bull’s has nice rush with hammer too.

Hammer/Rifle with Leg Specialist and Opportunist is what I like to run in zergs/sieges. With Bolas you’ve got three Immob’s available to you. Hammer #3, they stunbreak, swap rifle #2, maybe they stunbreak again, bolas, they’re eaten alive. No one gets in, no one gets out. Also, crack shot is great on bridges.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at here.. Why would the enemy use a stunbreak when immobilized?
And Leg specialist has a 5 second cooldown. So if you Hammer 3, then swap and rifle 2, rifle 2 doesn’t immobilize.

I strongly suggest you to try the Salvation build (GS/Rifle). In small group you will need mobility with GS and you have a nice synergy in the Arms trait with GS and Rifle. You’ve get a really good DPS, mobility and utilities give you the survivability that you are looking for. Good luck.

For roaming is hard to find synergies between hammer and rifle, due none of them provide too much mobility and also both weapons fight for the use of your adrenaline.
Hammer + longbow works well in PvP due usually you don’t need to flee away and because the Combustive Shot helps a lot to replenish the adrenaline bar and because people fights for the control points so is easier to catch them in those -usually small- areas. In WvW works worse due the size o the landscape and the lack of mobility.
You didn’t found advice about a rifle + hammer loadout because the synergies are almost none. If you land a Earthshake then your adrenaline barr is depleted and then your only burst is Volley which compared with Hundred Blades or Flurry isn’t that great. If you land a Kill Shot (most of times at range) and you want to use the hammer you still need to close the gap.
Maybe if your only goal is to kill people at range with the rifle the cc from the hammer can complement your Rifle Butt in oder to keep people away from you, but the combination of hammer and rifle doesn’t seems to be optimal, imo.
