I’m wondering if anyone has done a recent look at the various weapon combos. Is mace off-hand good, sword condition or power, etc. I’m not super interested in greatsword, as it has been over-examined to death.

Mace offhand is good and works brilliantly with axe mainhand. 4 vuln and a 1200 range knockdown! 1200 range! Our maces have more range than our longbow (untraited)!

Off-hand sword has crazy condition pressure with the introduction of the torment condition. It comes with a pretty decent 2 second block now, since the #5 parry does not cancel immediately upon blocking one hit; it continues blocking for the entire duration unless you’re in range to actually land a parry on someone.

Main-hand sword is viable for power builds, since the new #3 skill can crit for upwards 8k damage, but it has a long animation and it is difficult to land. The attack speed of the #1 combo chain has been increased significantly.

Longbow has extremely good single-target and AoE damage because it has both power and condition damage mixed together. The Burning Arrows trait decreases longbow cooldowns by 20% now, so the #2 Fan of Fire skill can be used 3 times in a row within a 10 second cooldown weapon swap. That’s 15 seconds of burning if you hit the target at melee range, which leads to my next point: the longbow is ironically stronger in melee range. Unlike the rifle, which is awful vs opponents who rely on melee-ranged pressuring, the longbow is really good for melee fights.

There are several points of view you can take on this issue:

1) Tryhardery – There is no beating 30 0 0 10 30 axe+mace/gs in raw melee damage.

2) The Look – Axes in general are fugly, with gs you can grind towards twilight/sunrise. Nobody gives you s**t about your build when you carry a legendary x)

3) Versatility – With a GS build (25 arms) you can swap forceful greatsword for crack shot if you are expecting to stay ranged during most of the fight, also increases dps of underwater weapons.

The kitten you on about? I’d much rather take someone in the ugliest gear imaginable who is traited correctly and skilled, than some kittenbag whos running around auto attacking with his Twilight in a 30 Tactics & Defense build.

I’m pretty sure Legendaries are often made fun of.

There was an old saying in Fractals that pertained to if someone had a legendary weapon you should be prepared to rez them from down state numerous times.

I suppose everything has negative and positive views though.

Well considering you can get a legendary by forking out some 750 USD if that’s how you roll…
