There is absolutely no reason vengeance shouldn’t have a 100% chance to rally if you kill something in PvE. I shouldn’t need to waste 20 trait points to get something that should be baseline anyway. We don’t get to choose our downed abilitys. No other class has a “If I press this button I die” so why should we? Our other two downed abilities are pretty worthless and the only one thats worthwhile kills us. Its ridiculous.
I can understand why you shouldn’t have the 100% chance to rally in PvP without it being traited but in PvE its absolutely ridiculous for it to be a random chance.

I honestly don’t like vengeance at all, I only use it if I was going to die anyway, because I may as well hit them some more first. It’s pretty funny when I get up and kill three NPC’s then fall down dead amongst the bodies though, like giving them one final two finger salute.
As far as actually relying on it as an ability, I have more luck throwing an axe, healing a bit, then spamming rocks until the axe is ready again.

I came here just to complain about this, Vengenace is useless. Sometimes i get a lucky kill and it revives me but 90% of the time that does not happen.
Every class has some ability that helps them get back up easily. Like the thief smoke bomb + teleport almost guarentees you get back up if you time it and aim properly.

Semi-related: It should really really I mean really make you rally on downing them not finishing them; stomping takes too long and nearly every class can interrupt it resetting your stomp then you die and rally them…. I can’t tell you how many times my vengeance kills me mid stomp. It doesn’t help that you lose your adrenaline either.
I just generally hate this ability but I’m just glad I’m not an ele…

All of those complaints are valid but my biggest gripe with it is the cool down once you are downed. I would like to try it out but often I’m completely dead before it’s even half way off cool down.

I downed an ele 4 times. Kept shooting my rifle when he was downed, he managed to get up all 4 times and last time, he was alive. I was like WTH? Even a warrior can’t get up permanently from downed state. Total bs. Should’ve just “finished” him.

I have a tendency to use Vengeance in a more strategic matter. As in if I’m downed a spot where none of my teammates could reach me, I’ll pop that up and move to a better location, then die right next to a friend in hopes they could res me when the time is right.
As far as the proc-chance of Rallying from Vengeance … I just think it’s too low that it’s not even worth it trying. It even sucks more when you’re soloing, and you somehow pop Vengeance, kill everything that tried to kill you, and still died because of no Rally proc.

ele 3 – vapor form. This was what was screwing you. After 8 seconds of being downed, the ele can turn into vapor, making them immune to physical damage. For a few seconds at least. After it ends they go back to being downed, but with an extra point of downed penalty. After 3 uses if they havent rallied it straight kills them. You also cant rally while inside vapor form

As far as things go, warriors honestly have a pretty strong downed. You can stop a stomp, and even get back up again for a short period of time, which is usually enough to reach a safe area, or help your team out (and possibly even revive yourself) while the chance may be low, you can trait to put it to 100%. Which is far better than most classes.
sure it’s no guardian, but it’s certainly better than ele, or ranger o.o

I love sweet revenge, its amazing, in pvp I get many kills through this trait. Its op when downed, so no I dont think warriors should have an I win button when downed unless they trait for it.

I think you are confused, ranger is the second most op class when downed, behind warrior if traited, ele is indeed the worst, thief is second worst, and guardian is possibly third worst or tied for it with necro, not sure. Guardian is so bad when downed, while warrior is the best.

What?
Thief has awesome downed abilities. They can easily prevent a stomp twice and even move towards teammates to get help. Guardians are even better. They can prevent an entire team from stomping them and if they get their third skill up can pretty much heal themselves back up before anyone can restomp them.

I’m not sure what you’re smoking Dante, maybe you’re thinking purely in terms of PVE?
In PVP:
Rangers, Eles, and Necro have the worst downed state.
Warrior, Engineer, Mesmer, Guardian have middle tier to good downed state.
Thief has the best downed state.

Crunchy – at the moment no. I just used vengeance with my trait to 100% rally and killed -2- skritt. It still ticked down and wound up with me dead in the end.
100% should mean 100%. I had no problems until yesterday after the updates.

I have no problem with thief downed state personally, I just don’t try to finish them, instead I auto attack twice to stack 4-8 bleeds the use leap when the teleport to follow them and then down, unless I know they can stealth, then I just keep auto attack or fight someone else while my bleeds finish them.
@WBL, lost the ability to quote again.
Elementalist can self res once with Glyph of now useless renewal whilst in fire (?) to res a team mate from downed and give themselves a 30 sec if I die I res moment. If there was a ranger nearby his elite could have got the Ele up, same goes for a warrior. Also the ele could have tagged everyone in the area and one of them may have died. But to see 3 reses in a row from a Ele is quite wierd, I play one myself and only ever get up if I can mist form, double dodge out of battle then try to self rally, have a teammate ninja res me or get a rally from a defeated foe.

I personally find that the Vengeance downed skill is perfect as is. While warriors down state is not very functional, one has to only look at other classes to realize that it’s pretty much the same across the board. While some classes have some better mechanics (such as the thief and guardian) as a warrior you still have viable options. Being able to rally (once traited) is very effective, most of the time you will be able to kill the enemy and walk away from what would have been a nasty situation.

It’s bugged and has been since launch (possible in BWE too, can’t remember).
I’d much rather the skill put you in a downed state (i.e. can still mash the skills) rather than a defeated state (i.e. proper dead) when the timer ran out, but on the whole I’ve no issue with it. Many times in PvP when solo/skirmishing I’ve used it to stay in the fight when the trait actually worked.

Im thinking in terms of solo play and spvp, in tournys sure maybe in a gorup fight but I am a roamer, and as a roamer my warrior has the best down state since I can get up and if I cant kill them I can kill minions or rock dogs to rally during vengeance. Ranger has the second best downstate in a downsy war, aoe daze, pet heal, pets can still use the f2 command, and you can still swap pets, guardian cant heal back to full, thats just ignorance, he heals for 12-16k health out of like 40k when downed with the symbol. Thief outside of a group has no chance of getting back up unless you can teleport behind a wall and heal, although shadows refuge before you die helps. necros lol suck when downed, cant see a way around that, 1 fear and thats it. Engineer has a dangerous down state if you dont down them immediately, and mesmers… well mesmers are hard against newbies but easy when downed against good players.
Thats what Im smoking, experience.

I don’t understand why you are complaining…you get to stand back up before taking a final deathblow and perhaps live from it. If you don’t want to die from it don’t stand up and try to heal yourself. However if you are being hammered by NPCs what is the difference between throwing rocks until you are dead and standing up and fighting until you are dead? One has a chance of rallying you, the other does not.
