Viable and "Best" Dungeon build ???
Just changed my build from glass cannon to tanky. I have full power vit tough set, my weapon are sword+shield and greatsword (melee only) or rifle\longbow(if i need cc)
This is the build i’ve found most viable switching on my mark with for great justice and endure pain

Hope this helps
Its always best to start out tanky until you learn the encounters really well then slowly bring in more dps traits/gear etc as you get better at it. Eventually you can go full glass cannon once you master the encounters.
Healing shouts is a good place to start. I’d say stick with gs or axe though still, unless you really like the hammer. You still want to do some damage :P
As much as I love hammer, ditch it for dungeons. Several of the mobs are immune to knockdowns and stuns (you’ll simply get interrupts instead) and the cooldowns are too long. Go with pure damage weapons instead, like Rifle and Axe/Axe.
As for gear, pow/vit/tough is ideal, but not necessary. Just get in, do as much damage with axe/axe and tank for as long as you can, then rotate out and switch to rifle until you heal up. Your overall dps will still be quite high, even if specced for tanking.
My advice – put 10 points in tactics for Inspiring Banners. The trait reduces banner’s cooldown and increases the radius effect. Then pick a banner best suited for the current party and practice – when the battle switches – pick the banner, use the swiftness or other available skills, place it somewhere where the most people will gain the bonus.
And when you’re in the open field, switch the banner trait for Empowered – increases damage based on your boons (with FGJ and SoR you’ll always have 2).
The only benefit to having a warrior in a dungeon party vs a different profession is consistent raw damage output. There is no true tanking in this game, and even if there were….a guardian would still be better at it. A thief is likely to have higher single target burst damage. Ranged classes provide boons and dps with the survivability of being at range..more so than we do with a rifle or long bow. That leaves warriors with one simple task….get in there and kill stuff fast. With that being said, pvp bunker builds do not accomplish that task. If you’ve ever been in a dungeon run where the boss was regenerating health nearly as fast as your party’s dps could whittle it down…then you know what I mean. Yes, you’ll live longer in dungeons with a bunker build, but you’ll also be slowing the group down and not providing the benefit a warrior should to the group. Even the warrior-provided boons are all damage increasers…ANET is, in a not so subtle way, telling you what your group contribution should be.
I agree with “Recently.1043” that it would be wise to start out with a defensive build and then transition to a glassy build as you learn the encounters. I know my first dungeons in this game involved a lot of deaths. This was due to the significant difference in damage done by dungeon mobs vs open world mobs and the expected gear levels for running dungeons. If I recall correctly, I was surprised by the frequency and volume of conditions applied in dungeons like TA. That’s when I finally realized how terrible healing signet was compared to mending.
You probably don’t want to roll into a dungeon with a large amount of toughness as I understand that mobs do tend to focus on players with high toughness. That might be a recipe for repeated deaths in your first few dungeon runs.
Guys thanks so much for all the advice. I think that ^ is what I will do. I will slowly transition into this type of play style. My dungeon experience has been a mixed bag. Most of the time my guild friends who are 80 run me through and for me to keep up I keep up I use a shield mace and swiftness abilities and mitigation skills like endure pain and I shout to buff them. B t holy crap I die a lot in PUG group dungeons. I am guessing this is normal?
There are a lot of people in PUG that are downright idiotic and almost everyone is a glass cannon. If you have a tank (yourself, perhaps) it usually is smooth sailing from there on out.

No tanky, dodgy and damage. You can choose to have 30k hp and be able to take a couple of hits but it still pales in comparison to the fact that a glass cannon warrior will kill things 300% faster than any defensible warrior.
In WvW, I mow down defensive warriors with ease, that should be proof enough that either 1. It’s pointless to be tanky. or 2. Those players just really suck.

Players suck.

Definitely Shouts or Banners (30 in Tactics). A weapon with Blood and you’re good to go.

Once you’ve learned all the mechanics , staying alive wont be a problem .I run succesfuly Glass Cannon Warrior through all the dungeons whitout even getting downed once. And because its that much faster and no repair bills , I’m confident to say, thats the best way to run dungeons.
The best way for a person to start dungeons is pure tank. After that, you start building experience that can be summarized in this – stay away from the red circles, learn to dodge.
Once you know the encounters and are practiced enough with dodge, then start going for more damage-y builds, till at the end you go for full glass cannon.
With the state of dungeons atm, you don’t really need a tank, unless your group is somewhat terribad, and even then, you can use em as a meat shield to plow through the mobs.

Warriors are a bit more limited than some classes in what they can do but what they do they tend to do well.
My warrior has PVT armor, berserker GS, cleric rifle and sapphire jewelry. I run a healing shout/damage hybrid and can remove conditions group wide, apply 10 stacks of vulnerability, and give my group fury and might all while healing them. Add in monk runes and the elite signet gives everyone aegis on a 48s CD. I will still often bring my guardian if there are none in the group from before but if there is an AH guardian to compliment this one then it is a dynamic duo I’d rank warriors as the second best dungeon class atm but not the second most fun to play though.
