As title suggests, I want to try and gather some information regarding your warrior, fighting against any class 1v1. Whether it be in spvp or wvw (providing your opponent was lv80), any information would be appreciated!

I feel that the warrior class is a very well balanced class, hopefully the following replies from everyone will help conclude whether warriors are truly balanced, or not.

So, for all you warriors out there:

- which classes have you defeated?
- which classes give you the most problems?
- which build were you using in those fights?
- what were your weapon comps?

From my experiences,

Using typical GS + mace/shield. 20/20/10/0/20, sPvP only; WvW fights are complete random bullkitten and not really useful information-wise.

Hard match-up to beat:
d/d ele
condition builds (thief in particular)
mesmer (any type)
bunker engie

Easy match-up to beat:
none really. Maybe bs thief since i’m really used to fighting them. Most rangers are not too difficult either. The rest of the matchups i think are all roughly even, i don’t ever feel like warrior absolutely crushes another matchup 1sidedly the way say a mesmer can just roll a warrior ezmode.

Call me when this game gets fixed…. if it ever does….

A well played warrior can win probably against everything, except bunker and condition-speccs.

The first question probably isn’t the best question to ask, since I’m pretty sure most people who’ve played extensively in either have probably killed one of every class at least once. Or, maybe it should be “which classes do you have the least trouble with?” since if you’ve spent any significant amount of time in either PvP type, if you haven’t killed one particular class, that should also be covered under the second question.

Anyway, I seem to have the easiest time with rangers, engineers, elementalists, and necromancers. This comes with a bit of a caveat, since I actually haven’t met many engineers in WvW who want to try and 1v1 me, preferring to kite me around. Necromancers are a bit more difficult to fight because of condition spams, but since I run 3 condition removals, it’s not as hard to deal with. Rangers are probably the easiest fight for me. I also haven’t lost to an elementalist yet, but I have definitely not been able to catch more than a few D/D elementalists when they want to run. I also haven’t lost a 1v1 against another warrior, but in all honesty, I haven’t had many opportunities to 1v1 another warrior. I stun break out of any bull rush + HB combo immediately out of habit by now, so I haven’t exactly lost there, but once again, I haven’t been able to catch a bunch of them if they want to run with GS 3 and 5.

I have the most trouble with specific guardians, because depending on if I come up against a good healing build, a lot of the time it becomes hard to take down their health since I’m not exactly a burst build while they steadily take down my health. Mesmers are also sometimes hard to deal with because of the sheer amount of clones they can output and the amount of control and evasion they’re given, though much less so now, since I’ve fought a lot of them and played one, so I know many of the tricks they have, which is a lot of their power. I have trouble occasionally with thieves only if they are a constant stealth build. In that case, if they’re smart, they’ll jump around to where I’m not and just run in and out and wear down my health while I can’t hit them. I have no issues with backstab thieves probably because I run a shield, so I just block their initial burst, and then turn on them. Again, though, it’s sometimes hard to catch a lot of them if they choose to run.

BUILD:
The build I run in WvW is 20/30/0/0/20 (Berserker’s Power, Axe Mastery, Rending Strikes, Crack Shot, Last Chance, Warrior’s Sprint, and Sweet Revenge) with Power/Toughness/Vitality armor, Berserker trinkets, and a Berserker pack piece. As far as skills go, I use Mending, Bull’s Rush, “Fear Me!”, “Shake it Off!”, and Signet of Rage. I run Lyssa runes in my armor for complete condition removal and all boons for 5 seconds on my elite (which includes stability, which is awesome).

My weapons are Axe/Shield/Rifle, with the axe and rifle being berserker stats and the shield being knight’s stats. The axe and rifle have sigils of rage and my shield has a sigil of battle in it.

I suppose the major complaint I have about this build is the lack of mobility, but if I can land a good bull’s rush, I can usually stick to my target with some cripples and swiftness.

TL;DR:
Usually easy: Engineers, Rangers, Elementalists, Necromancers.
Occasionally difficult: Guardians, Mesmers, Thieves
Build/weapons above.

From what I gather so far, seems like glass cannon builds are doing very well for warriors. Are there any shout heal build warriors out there with similar results?

Couple classes with specific builds have gotten an eyebrow raised, and I’d like to experience fighting those more:

- d/d mega health regen ele’s (i find them to be literally uncatch’able when they are on the run)
- bunker guards (deals good dmg considering the amount of dmg they mitigate)
- constant stealth thieves (wonder if it’s even possible to catch them inbetween stealths)
- bunker necros (can seem to tank pretty hard along with decent dmg from conditions. and also their second bar of life)

That’s the build I’ve been using.
True warriors lack solid condition removal. However, in this build beserker’s might isn’t absolutely needed, so if there are heavy condition builds on the oposite team you can trait into Strength #2 and mending will remove up to 6 conditions.
Also the sigil in the shield isn’t needed and since then I have swapped it for another sigil of purity.
lastly You could swap out 1 rune of rage for a 5th ranger gaining another 5% crit chance if that fancies you. I like the increased fury up time though.

With this build I havn’t had much trouble with anything really. I’ve had some wonderful 1v1 fights (Spvp is kind of dead :/) vs all sorts of classes condition and direct damage dealers and it’s nice to say I’ve come out on top 60% of the time.
Condition rangers can sometimes get me because they are usually the most skilled kiters I don’t know why but necros, engs, even eles and mesmers I have no trouble catching. With this build though knowing when to use each stance is key you can’t just run in pop them all and win especially frenzy. But usually If i do find a kitteny bunker build he is put down really fast because of bal stance + frenzy (if they can do enough damage to me endure pain kicks in).

Can’t really kill much of anything on a shouts heal warrior (i’m assuming your going full support). Its useful if you pair up with a glass cannon though who can take advantage of your cc chain (ie a thief, or another 100b war).

You won’t see constant stealth thieves in spvp at all, that’s a gimmick that only matters in wvw. d/d ele i honestly don’t know.

It has massive health regen, a good amount of cc, and the ability to outrun ANYTHING if it gets in a bad spot (air 4 > fire 3 > blink = have fun chasing me) It naturally comes with 2 stun breaks as well alot of damage invulnerability. Yeup, can’t agree more with that. Only people who play d/d Ele’s crave for 1v5 fights and live to tell the tale.

However, I do believe wars are capable of defeating such a godly spec’d ele. Curious to hear which build/weapons were used to conquering such a feat.

Best Warrior duel spec = Mace + Shield and GS/Axe + Mace. Keep that in mind.

Also keep in mind on how many stun breaks a certain match up has, because that is VERY important when you’re actually using a chain stun build.

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?
