Warrior Battle Standard revive functionality [bug]?

I’ve had this nagging feeling that the revive function on the warrior’s elite Battle Standard is not working as intended. If you read the tooltip, it states that it “revives fallen allies”. But so far the way it actually works is it only “rallies” downed allies.

It seems there’s a similar issue with the Guardian’s Signet of Mercy ability which also states that it “revives a nearby ally” but only works on downed allies. Since the Guardian’s ability had a similar issue I thought it was just poorly worded and thought no more about it.

But I’ve since heard that Elementalist actually has a skill that can actually revive up to 3 fallen allies (not downed state, but actually dead). So I looked up the Elementalist ability called Glyph of Renewal with the Earth attunement states: “Revive three allies”.

When I tested this with a friend, this skill actually does revive allies that are dead. This leads me to believe that the warrior’s elite skill Battle Standard is bugged. Either that or the tooltip is wrong.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Would love for Anet to clarify this.

it’s been understood how this worked since 2010.

So is the elementalist ability to revive someone who’s defeated the intended functionality?

nothing has changed since the game was in alpha. they’re all working as intended, but ArenaNet really need to FIRE the people in charge of the UI for GW2. the tooltips and several other features are kitten awful.

I don’t think that was his point. A lot of people bought this game and rolled a warrior that hadn’t been closely following all the minutae of each classes’ tootip wording since 2010. The tooltip is plain misleading. Actually, it’s technically downright inaccurate. I’m sure it’s not top on the list of fixes they’re planning in the near future but it should be changed for all the players in the future who will purchase the game and expect these skills do something that they just don’t. You make a good point OP. You post this one in the “Warrior Bug List” thread?

obviously it is not understood. I have seen several posts about this exact issue all over the forums.
Anet really needs to get their kitten together regarding the UI. It’s inexcusable that the UI description doesn’t match what the skill actually does. If what you say is correct, and that it has worked like this since 2010… then there is really no reason why the UI hasn’t been updated. They’ve had two years to correct it.
Battle standard is just one example. There are many other skill UI descriptions that are inaccurate.

This is also true and a very good point. It’s not just one warrior skill nor is it just warriors.

To A-net’s credit they have been pumping out “fixes” at a fairly quick pace. Would be nice to see this stuff get fixed sooner rather than later though cause understanding it exactly as the tootip words it is indeed misunderstanding what the skill(s) really do.

A lot of people are gonna have to come here and thumb through post after post, or likely make their own as time passes. That or they’ll learn the hard way which will likely be at the cost of more than a few wipes and peeved group members heh.

It really does seem like one of the how many alpha, closed and then open beta iterations that were tested and QA’d over and over and over would have worked these kinds of quick fixes to the tooltip wordings in somewhere. They’re applying fixes at a faster pace than I’ve seen in many other MMOs so soon after launch but this one would be a big a “quality of life” kind of fix for new players.

Tool tips are bad. I mean Endure pain STILL says 5 seconds when its actually 3seconds, and its been pointed out a billion times, and still hasn’t been changed yet.

Call me when this game gets fixed…. if it ever does….

Well, as someone else stated I haven’t been following this game since 2010. I play a warrior and I too have noticed the elite banner doesn’t revive fallen allies. What DOES it do? How does it work?

I agree about the confusing tooltips. I use the Battle Standard anyway and it actually revives the fallen allies in its range. Only the fallen ones, those who are struggling for life. But it properly works in spite of the misleading tooltip
