Warrior DPS Durable

Most likely the Closest things to DPS durable currently and is considered most viable is Gs with Sword/Horn and aiming to get Knight armor and Berserker Trinkets to get a best of both worlds and not be a Glass Cannon. Warriors have the highest base health (Necro’s too) and Use heavy armor but a few hundred points into toughness adds a lot of dmg reduction to a high health pool. Warriors generally need more toughness than vitality to increase their effective health pool compared to gaurdians (your example). Gs and Sword/Horn offer many escape’s increase movements skills and anti snare + vigor.
That balance of Damage and Defense along with some trait modifications can allow warriors to be much more durable and only lose a slight decrease in dmg. The trade off though i argue is definitely more favorable than being a straight glass cannon as a warrior since the truth is (we got no stealth/aegis/long duration invul or protection)
our only invulns are short and their cd’s are enormous.
Depending on your traits, it is possible to properly adjust damage with tankiness.
Opinion: I rather dislike the Sheild for many reasons that i feel Horn offers more to a team and the individual using it. The fact that the game doesnt really have a designated healer (A true healer/support class) and usually demands an individual to be self reliant means that we must be able to kite even as a melee class to avoid damage as well. Lets face it, i much rather have someone who knows how to kite and do dmg than someone spending too much time trying to soak damage and potentially die in a bad spot where no one can rez them.

Exactly, sorry.

Yeah man I am playing with Set Power/Tough/Vit and the rest berzeker with a hundred blades build but it is hideous use 3 utiltiy to kill 1 guy ( Endure Pain + Frenzy + Bulls Charge ) . Actually this build is very easy to avoid but is the one that works so-so because the rest is condition ( sword ) or Slow attacs with controll effects ( hammer ) or a Huge damage focus in projectiles that can be reflected.
Im waiting for a answer about anet because this way it is impossible play with warrior. I play every day WvW and it is very difficult hit the zerg and after run out of the zerg for many reasons..
Now this is for the guys that tell me everyday that Warrior have HIGH HP and High Armor so you can do a Durable DPS as Guardian can do – Armor and Vitality every profession can have from GEAR but Stealth/Protection/Invulnerable and the other survival things are IMPOSSIBLE to get from GEAR.
I have an 80 Guardian (Tanky) as my main and also an 80 Rifleman DPS warrior as my alt, I love them both.
The Guardian does not get the same big HP pool as warriors do, and I understand why and I think this is correct as the guardians have so many ways of getting there HP back ect…
On my warrior I go full berserker gear, and hit massive numbers which is awesome, but I still get about 20k HP and it does make you more durable. So from my experience of playing I have no issue staying alive with my warrior in full berserker gear.
Must add im talking PVE here.

If this is a PvE discussion, warrior is completely fine. We are actually on the strong side compared to most classes. Survival is definitely above average here.
If this is some sort of comparison to guardian tanks, no we aren’t as good at tanking as guardians. We are still better than the other classes minus guardians when it comes to tanking. Stealth and invulnerable are not valid tanking options (stealth removes aggro, and anything that triggers invulnerable like mistform has a huge cd)
The 3 mechanics you listed are many times stronger in PvP. I think if fast hands gets fixed, and a good passive condition removal trait gets added (something that can feasibly trigger every ~10 seconds or so) then we will be in a solid spot for pvp also.
It is a discussion about WvW and PvP. Pve doesn’t matter evebody at my guild got 80 in 2 days lol
Warriors, if traited well can heal a buttload; and using a GS is always high dps lol. Why do you need protection if you can heal almost as much as you get damaged.

I would agree in certain aspects to a healing warrior, but the fact is healing power on us scales terribly. We can use shouts and banners to heal aoe and ourselves, but Guardians can do it better (self and aoe wise) and dish out more damage via this approach. Warriors do have more mobility than Guardians, and we have abilities to engage and disengage most scenarios. I believe the truth of the matter that Devs, made warriors jack of all trades was indeed true, we do have perks in areas (weapon swapping, but it is bugged and Might stacking) where a high learning curve seperates most warriors from others based on skill. (Gaging when to jump in, should i save a utility skill for a possible chase or use it to initiate, when to HB or just auto attack, etc.)
Problem with Gs, is that it lacks the hard cc we need to control our opponents. Its dmg is high, and offers the a ton of mobility. Compared to our other weapons though, i would say that the only other weapons most viable for competitive play (PvP/WvW) are the rifle and Axe for damage. Longbow is still a bit buggy, and if not speced into condition, the burn would do significantly less dmg (not too bad even as a more crit build, but rifle would do more hurt to single targets, while longbow for WvW)
Its sad that warrior, has a lot of bugs and requires some attention towards our more weaker builds (Condition specifically). The best thing though is the large diverse builds warriors can use based on weapon choices. Its hard to manage compared to other classes i think (most people used to playing games requiring only 1 weapon, or at worst 2 with swapping) because of how often i felt being fixed to one set or two sets of different weapons wasn’t enough for some scenario.
Axe = Highest single hand dmg output (1 gap closer which isnt reliable and 1 cripple ranged)
Sword = Bleed/mobility/cripple (offhand needs work/and flurry roots you and the target) <— (currently better to use for mobility/utility rather than for bleed since condition dmg is better done on other classes and warriors need a buff in that aspect)
Mace = Blocks/Stuns/Weakness/vulnerability (slow attacks/no gap closer/ good utility and gives more tankiness in my opinion)
GS = Lots of mobility and Damage (2 gap closers and escapes/ Decently high burst / no Hard CC/ 1 ranged cripple)
Hammer = Aoe stun/Knockback/Stun/Aoe cripple (Slow attack animations and no escape utilities)
Rifle = High single target dps and a knockback (great for high burst builds and vulnerability builds, I would say that imo that this weapon is currently the most viable in most scenarios)
Longbow = Large Aoe dmg/affects (scales poorly with Flat dmg, Puts good numbers of burn on enemies, and great chain effect for might stacks)
Horn = Best aoe utility from a weapon we have (remove crip/imob/chill, swiftness/ vigor and aoe weakness)
Shield = Defensive offhand with a small gap closer stun (small stun duration (mostly for interrupt) and 3 sec block with a large cd)
Overall if you see our weapons and the skills they come with, i would say they all have too many pros/cons to have just two sets of weapons. Of course we can always have our favorites, but i think always having a warhorn and longbow at all times is useful (in inventory). That being said, warriors can be built tankier and still do dmg (not just because gs does lots of dmg), but because we have many weapons which forces us to use different weapons at different times. This does though prove that in Tpvp/Spvp, warriors are rather subpar to other classes currently. Yes winning alot with Gs or anyother weapon does show that we have potential, but I still believe that two people of similar skill (the warrior will lose to most other classes) can show that Warrior shines in areas we can’t exploit in PvP. But thats just my opinion and others would argue HB is too strong, or rifle hitting 10K crits are too strong, but that doesn’t really affect warrior as a whole. Plus using many (selfish utility skills) aren’t as good as other our other abilities, which is why i strictly try not to play Gs, as i dislike using things everyone else does (weird). I do say that a warrior who uses Gs well in a team can be seen as a High (small aoe) Dps melee burst class with high dmg and good mobility, and naturally a bit tanky.

As we can see Warrior don’t have one second of protection, if you can put protection in the warrior, so you should go to the doctor because you might be crazy.
You can actualy get some protection via runes. ;-)

Not worth having if its not reliable >.<
(random chance to get protection for 4s < skill that gives you 2 sec protection on demand)
I can have all boons for 5.5 seconds out of 60, my runes provide that kind of cover-up(they are called superior runes of lyssa, they are probably the thing you will be looking for if you want durable DPS. I’m assuming you will be using signet of rage of course.)
I adore mace/shield for amount of blocks and stuns that are saving me from damage(using it as a secondary wvw/pvp set complimenting my GS(or rifle occasionally in pvp).
signet of stamina is very good as well.
I know about lyssa runes, I just feel warriors could do better DPS durable by simply just being more agile (perma swiftness/warhorn/vigor for constant dodge). I truly wish we could get protection boon, but when i think about it, It would make us way too strong with the high health pool we already have and heavy armor.
Runes for protection is hideous.
I think equal to you man. Actually we are the worst class in 1 vs 1 and the best weapon to 1vs1 is axe. The axe just have a good autto attack because the rest of the skills are pretty ugly ( Criple 900 range, Vulnerability for 8s LOL it is joke … )
Whatever, nowadays I don’t know what the Anet need to do to fix the warrior but this way its impossible to play with one class that is the worst in 1vs1 and when you try to go straight in a zerg you must use Endure pain or you will not back for the house.
The warrior condition builds are bad too, first we can’t focus in other condition like poison, confusion, etc. Our condition is just bleeding.

Its true that 1v1 we aren’t kings. But i do feel that warriors are strong in other aspects. As for someone who’s addicted to going against the grain (anti GS build), the only condition build i have been somewhat successful with is a bleed/burn build and using sigil of doom on both the long bow and sword to keep poision on the enemy as an additional condition and reduce healing. Its got its pros/cons like any other build, but i do feel we need a buff in condition areas to make it viable.
Axe definitely is the best dmg we get for one handed weapon, and combined with mace offhand, we get some decent dueling abilities. But even that is subpar compared to other classes (pathing skills or ranged skills = more reliable damage). biggest problem for warrior is that most of our skills aren’t target and stick to dmg skills (heartseeker from thief (close gap and do dmg), ranged attacks from all classes are mostly click target and click skill, or reverse dmg/condition like guardians and their retaliton/burns). It makes it harder for warriors to stick their damage down and not get messed up in the fray. We do have ways to do those stuff too (Rifle/bow) but it doesn’t feel very warrior type >.> and that our melee skills i feel could all definitely use bug fixes (gs rush pathing/our burst skills are subpar (only axe/rifle/stun worth anything)). Not to mention our burst % in the discipline tree is a joke.
I do say, that our best specialty is multiweapon and dynamic style of different situations, but in pvp it doesn’t bring alot to the table and the fast hands trait is bugged. Whats worse is how warriors don’t have a single use for going all the way down the strength tree, and i dont know how warriors can possibly stand as one of the stronger 1v1 classes until they fix most of our bugs, and give us a bit more (reliable damage).
