The best leveling weapons are probably the Greatsword (All purpose Cleave) and Longbow (Ranged AoE). You won’t really need the LB once you hit lvl 80, but its still good for leveling. The stats you should be focusing on for PvE is Berserker (Power/Precision/Ferocity) which is a purely DPS set. Theres no need for additional Tougness/Vitality as long as you dodge and pay attention to attack animations.

Your skill choices depend on the content that you are doing, but the most commonly used PvE skills being:

Healing – “Healing Signet” (Our best heal skill)
Utility – “For Great Justice” / “Banners of Discipline/Strength” / “Signet of Fury/Dolyak”
Elite – “Signet of Rage” (All purpose) / “Battle Standard” (Group)

I’m sure you can find some leveling guides/builds online. Warriors are the most beginner friendly profession so you shouldn’t have much problems picking things up.

Instead of the banners I would use, Signet of endurance, to regenerate to help with those dodges, Most people only use banners for the speed buff, things die WAY to fast to have any real use for them. Use the GS for mobility

This is what i would run with, the Greatsword + Mainhand sword combo alongside warriors sprint makes you incredibly mobile, no need for swiftness imo.

Don’t bother with banners, they’ll just become a burden because while leveling you’ll constantly be picking them up and putting them back down, best to just go with signets and shake it off for the stun break if you need it.

I’ve put in what i feel are mandatory traits to take, everything else, just put wherever you feel like it.

I also put in some cheap food and potion just for the slight exp boost each time you kill a mob.

Warrior 80 | Guardian 80 | Ranger 80 | Engineer 80 |
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA

You typically take banners in dungeons for the group utility. Discipline + Strength are the ones you want the most so work it out with other warriors to make sure you don’t double up. If I’m the only warrior I’ll take both as well as Battle Standard, but the cooldown on BS is incredibly long so I prefer Rage most of the time.

The 2nd utility slot I typically leave as a filler for Signets/Stances/Shouts. I like “Signet of Fury” for the passive Precision boost and you can activate it for full adrenaline when you want an extra burst (not really useful when camping GS though). I swap it out for “Dolyak Signet” when I need stability/stun break and it also offers a passive toughness boost for tougher fights. “Signet of Stamina” can also be useful for the increased Endurance regeneration, but I don’t find myself needing it that often in PvE. You will want it in certain instances that require alot of dodging/condition removal.

I always keep “For Great Justice” for everything PvE as a good all purpose DPS boost. You can always benefit from more Might and its even better if you are running a Might Stacking/Sharing build, but don’t worry about that until later.

Your standard lvl 80 GS build should look like this:

You will mainly be camping GS with this build so your alternate set is up to personal preference. The most popular options being: Axe/Mace (Stack Vulnerability), Sword/Warhorn (Mobility/Condition Removal), and Longbow (Ranged AoE).

Dual Wield builds are also viable which offer better sustained damaged vs. Burst damage that Greatsword offers. You can run (Axe/Mace + Axe/Sword) or swap out one set for a Greatsword if you like.

For leveling, I use GS and Axe/Warhorn. Healing Signet, FGJ, Sig of Might, Sig of Fury, Sig of Rage when you get to 30. Banners are for group play, and things die so fast in open world pve that there’s no need for dolyak signet. Your first trait points should be in Arms to get Deep Strike (increased Precision per unused Signet). After that, probably Empowered in the 4th line, but I have yet to get there on my post patch warrior.
