Warrior Roaming / Conquest
Hello everyone,
I am new to the warrior class and I wonder which build is the best for:
Roaming ( 1vs1 / 1vs2) => GS + axe/shield or Ham+GS
Conquest (team vs team)=> Ham+bow or Shout+bow?I run PVE with GS
What would you guys suggest?
Generally, Ham/GS is better in roaming, and Shoutbow is better in Conquest.

I always rage but never quit.
I confirm what Cygnus says (although I’m not well acquainted with WvW). Anyway, shoutbow is the meta in sPvP right now (and probably until they nerf Celestial amulet the next big update).
Hambow is still viable but takes a lot more practice and skill to make it effective in higher tiers.
Never use bow. It’s better uninstall game than use longbow.

There’s not a single viable conquest build without a longbow, just ignore him.

Why even play warrior if winning is so important that you are willing to sink low enough to use longbow? When you use longbow nobody respect you and in every fight you are loser even if you win.

The thing is, what you say could be true if GW2 PvP was duel-orientated, which it is not.
You can play warrior without a LB and be good at it, but you’ll be a drag for your team (if you play at a certain level).
In hotjoin, you can play whatever you want with success, not in arenas where you need not to be the best (it’s always nice to be though), but to synergise with your teammates.
Even without a LB, if you win all your fights, you are still a loser if your team can’t win. That’s how GW2 works.
When we have a suitable alternative for LB, I’ll consider dropping it. Not before.
The main reason we use longbow is to make up for a mechanical issue that has been present since launch. Warriors are extremely vulnerable to conditions, more so than mesmers or thieves because of the nature of their playstyle; they lack the strong stealth/mobility mechanics. Warriors basically are forced to eat conditions compared to other berserkers with even less condition cleanse. The only way we’ll be able to ditch longbow is if they give us better or alternative methods to cleanse conditions, or make Cleansing Ire more reliable for other burst skills. Easier way to do it would be to make CI work on adrenaline consumption, not on hit. So even if the ability was blinded, evaded, blocked, or anything else, it would still cleanse 1-3 conditions. The new mending for HoT may also help alleviate our problem, but we have only speculation right now.
This also isn’t touching on just the great general numbers and mechanics from the Longbow. Pin Down and/or Arcing Arrow burst is very competent, and Combustive Shot on a point deals an enormous (a little under an eviscerates) worth of damage for the duration. I don’t think those need to be changed, however or else Longbow would be worthless. The problem is just in Combustive Shot being our only way to reliably cleanse conditions.
Nerf cele, buff CI = Warriors can actually play builds that aren’t Shoutbow or longbow centered.
Greatbow
Hambow
Shoutbow
Sword Condi
Mace Condi
Axebow
A list of every potentially viable warrior conquest build. Literally every one of these builds is Weapon+Longbow. Banner bunker is the only build that might not use a longbow, but I argue its status as “viable”. Bunkers are not very good anymore, it’s not even a very good bunker, and bunker guardian offers everything banner bunker does sans sword 2 and flurry.

It’s not that I disagree with you but I still need to temper your statement : even without the LB, warrior is currently one of the less affected by condi classes. Actually, with Cleansing Ire + LB, noone can kill a warrior with condis (in a 1v1 situation with two people of approx. the same skill level) but even without LB, it appears to be extremely difficult.
It is true that LB F1 used as a cleanse is the most reliable way of getting rid of condis but you sound like it is the only viable one. Honestly, just with Healing Signet passive regen and Berserker Stance (traited or not), you are able to overcome almost any condi based opponent. 8 or 10 sec of invul against condis + approx. 372 hp/sec regen is game changing.
Add to that Brawler’s Recovery (with Fast Hands) and LB, and you’re pretty much invincible against condis. Take out LB and you are still very strong against condis.
Then I can’t say cleansing is the “main” reason we take LB, it’s more of a whole package. And warriors are definitely not vulnerable to condis ! Not for a very long time at least.
Sure the playstyle tends to make us eat more condis, but we also have numerous ways of getting rid of them or simply resist (i.e Berserker Stance, strong passive regen).
LB is most certainly our most reliable way of cleansing condis but not the primary way to deal with them.

LOL….does anyone play “Conquest” 5v5 “Match” if winning is not important to them? I think they are all in PVE.
And the respect part? I think every class has a cheese build that you could say does not deserve respect and yet i come across them all the time in sPvP.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Exactly, except LB builds are no cheese build
