Warrior Silverwaste Build
DISCLAIMER: I designed this independantly and did not copy anyone, HOWEVER, i 100% expect someone else to say they have seen this before simply because there are lots of players in this game and surely someone else may have come up with something similar long before i did. All i can say is that i did not knowingly copy anyone. Fair enough?
So this is my Warrior build for Silverwastes. GS and S/S, hybrid build.
Please note the way I make my builds is to change accessories and weapons only. I use the same armor set whether im doing WvW, Dungeons or Open World. The set I use is very versatile. (plus i’m a lazy cheapskate!) The weapons and accessories are all rampager stats (Precison main stat. power/condition damage secondary) I dont have any Sinister gear otherwise i would try that.
Armor is 4/6 Zerk with Soldier chest and legs. Hoelbrak runes. (you can use all zerk if you want).
The concept of the build is the synergy of Sw/Sw with GS and the Traits “Leg specialist”, “Opportunist” and “Forceful Greatsword”
Basically the 3rd hit on the Sword Auto Attack and “Savage Leap” (#2 sword skill) and “Bladetrail” (#4 GS skill) cripples the enemy. “Leg Specialist” means I get to immobilize on cripple. This links with “opportunist” which gives me fury on immobilize. The end effect is I have OVER 100% uptime on fury (its 100% since fury stacks by duration and my fury boon time is longer than the CD of the skills). My normal base crit chance is 56% so as soon as I enter combat (with “savage leap”) I am up to 76% crit chance.
Now for the fun part. Savage leap will immobilize for 1 second so I will immediately switch to GS and use 100 blades. Since my crit chance is now 76% and I have immobilized the enemy for a bit I can land a chunk of the 100b. “Forceful Greatsword” gives me might on crit. Yup! I stack 5-8 stacks of might immediately. And if im cleaving multiple mobs I can get more than that. I don’t see evidence of an Internal CD on might stacking. please correct me if i’m wrong.
Silverwaste mobs have some high toughness so the condis from bleed and the multi stacks of might are very useful. I can melt mobs much faster than if I use just a power build.
There is also a lot of condis from mobs and since I don’t have cleansing ire the only way I can remove condis is with the sigil of cleansing on my GS and to use condi reduction food. However I kill mobs pretty quick with this build. If condis are a problem for you, you can swap the sigil of energy in the sword with a sigil of purity for an extra condi removal per swap.
Build is below. As stated above you can use whatever armor you want but I recommend Hoelbrak runes for the increased might duration.
Would love to hear contructive comments from fellow warriors.
Thanks

Hi Spartacus, thanks for posting this. It looks interesting and I think I shall give it a shot this weekend in the SW. It’s my favourite map by far and I’ve been using an all zerk GS/rifle build but I’m not getting super results. I have always liked having a ranged weapon though. How do you do when you face the champs during breach and VW, having to go melee range?
I ran this again after a few weeks break and i did fine in the breach and vinewrath events last night. If you feel nervous about big events like that i would swap the GS for LB and drop forceful greatsword skill for cleansing ire for just that part of the fight. However i did not need to do that.
Sw/Sw and LB is a great variation of this build (minus the might stacking of course) , i just like using GS so thats why i built it that way .
NOTE: sigil of energy gives you and extra dodge when you swap to it which comes in handy when dodging boss attacks. (and i didnt die at all in the VW event last night and i was always fighting right in the thick of it. Oh my gear is exactly as above. Exotics only)

Well I tried this build out last night (or at least a slight variation of it – I made sinister armor and threw in the 2 soldiers pieces, used sinister weapons, and all my trinkets are ascended zerker). I found that on the open field it worked well, though in the VW fight at north lane we all wiped a couple times due to overpowered champ mobs. And on breach I was at amber with the troll with uber AoEs all over and again, we all wiped and wrecked it for the whole map (sorry everyone!). However, I had not stopped to switch to LB from all melee. I feel that would have made a big difference, because when I use rifle on amber troll I never had a problem dodging all the AoEs. As for VW if it was just me that wiped multiple times I’d maybe say the build had something to do with it, but I think we just got outnumbered by high HP mobs and simply didn’t have enough people to cover.
Anyway, I’m going to continue using it for a while to give it a good test. It is more fun to play in a way than my rifle/GS build.
I used it again this weekend and it has pretty good power, however, for fun i decided to alter it a touch. Mainly for those players who need more condi clear and CC
So i basically swapped the GS for hammer, dropped Forceful Greatsword for Cleansing Ire.
Its a big a change since no more might stacking which was what made it so powerful although kinda glassy (in terms of weakness against condis)
I tried this build out on Sunday and it has a ton more CC with the hammer. The lack of might stacking from Forceful Greatsword is offset with using a Sigil of Strength and Battle in the Hammer. Crit chance is 74% with fury so the Strength Sigil procs often. Cleansing Ire also kept the condis off me.
I made a few tweaks to up the offensive side of the build.
It moves a few defensives options around and ups condition damage more
It would be better to run the meta nberserker build with GS+Sword/Horn. This would give everything you need plus superior mobility for tagging events.
I don’t get the need for useless defensive stats or condition damage. Different for the sake of being different is usually bad.

I think the whole point wasnt to be diff for difference sake. Silverwaste mobs have a lot more toughness than other PVE mobs which require you to either kite a lot with ranged weapons and/or have condi damage potential which ignores armor. The build i posted takes that into account and from what i found works better than zerker melee build.
Im all for people looking at meta builds but at the same time it will be a sad day when everyone is running the same builds. I play this game for fun as i am sure most people do. As such i prefer to play builds that i enjoy but are still effective.
Having said that for PVE pretty much anything works, some work better than others but since we are not talking dungeon speed runs its not a big deal what people run.
I would recommend tuning into my stream on Saturdays at 11AM EST. I normally do 3-4 hours of Silverwastes farm. You can use this time to study how I use meta builds to complete the content with reasonable ease. Who knows maybe we both will learn something new
