For those that have noticed a change in the sword burst skill for Warrior last balance patch will know that its a pretty big deal. You can no longer benefit from traits that support landing a burst skill by rooting a target with the sword f1 and stowing to set up damage. However, you can land one hit with the flurry itself to get the trait procs, but it makes setting up damage a whole lot slower. In my opinion, sword is probably the weakest main-hand weapon for Warrior, and now its even weaker because of this. What do other people make of this? Was it unintentional and will they fix it? Or did they just decide to screw sword for no reason and not even include the functional change in the patch notes?

Sword burst needs to be totally reworked, such an otherwise cool weapon ruined by a kittenty burst skill

The fact that you could quickly pull off the immobile and then stow your weapon while getting Adrenal Health and Berserker’s Power so fast was what gave sword the potential to be used as a half decent weapon. Its definitely a cool weapon and its a shame that they screw it over like this.

@Choppy " You can no longer benefit from traits that support landing a burst skill by rooting a target with the sword f1 and stowing to set up damage. However, you can land one hit with the flurry itself to get the trait procs, but it makes setting up damage a whole lot slower. "
Basically, all you had to do was land the immobile on someone and it would give you the trait buffs without actually dealing damage to the target. Now you have to let the skill deal damage at least once to get the traits to trigger, but its makes setting up damage a lot slower and makes you a lot more vulnerable to attacks too.

I’m still not following. Aren’t these two statements contradictory?

“you can land one hit with the flurry itself to get the trait procs,”

The immob has always been applied with the first Flurry hit, afaik. I’ve not noticed a difference while playing sword, but then I find I have pretty much permanent uptime of BP (and AH) while in a fight anyway, so not sure that I’d notice.

The root would actually be applied as soon as you press F1, not with the first hit.
What I’m saying is that you can’t get bonuses for only ROOTING the target anymore, but instead have to deal damage with the skill chain to benefit from burst related traits.

Huh… I was always under the impression that the first hit is what applies the the root, hence why things like Aegis prevent the root (and the first hit). My bigger issue has been that it seems I often get a skill delay of up to a couple of seconds after cancelling Flurry, which has caused problems in the past.

That said, I didn’t see anything in the last patch notes about Flurry. Are you saying it’s a stealth nerf that went in?

Yes. I can only hope that the “nerf” was unintentional and its something they’ll eventually fix xD The way you can work around the skill delay is by stowing your weapon before you move btw
