Hi I am relatively new to sPvP and WvW, I main Warrior and I seem to have a considerable amount of trouble with CC heavy classes and condition heavy classes which seems to be most if not all.

I would like some tips on how to handle each class in combat including my own, not looking for builds as such, I need to figure that out myself or I’ll just be using other people’s builds that people counter. i need to know how to approach each class, what method of thinking I can use and the abilities best suited for that class along with a step by step or blow by blow guide of how a fight with X class should play out and why.

I have tried a heavy CC removal/Stance based build in sPvP and I still getting pretty much stomped, I feel the warrior is just so ill equipped in a battle once it’s laid it’s initial burst down, don’t get me wrong the burst is amazing and more often than not results in their death be it by my hand or a team mates. I feel i constantly have my feet nailed to the floor and that balanced stance is useless if it gets removed from me, which happens nearly every time. Dolyak signet is good and the trait that removes immobilize on move skill usage but the problem is that any CC is almost immediately reapplied and I’m screwed.

I have also tried the opposite end of the spectrum and tried a CC/Condition heavy build myself with Hammer, Mace, Shield and sword combo’s but find that most classes just remove it all so fast that I’m left standing there with a crazed un hittable ferret whirling around me making fun of me.

Hey there, the best advice I could probably give you about going against any other class is “play that class yourself.” There are certain aspects that are best learned through experience. You get to realize drawbacks in certain professions and their popular builds like lack of stun breakers, susceptibility to burst, windows of opportunity, etc. a lot more intimately. It’s probably the longest route to getting where you want to be in terms of understanding classes but putting that intimate knowledge into action is likely the most effective way of going about it.

You could always read more about Warrior VS. X Profession in places like the official forums here or other gaming community sites if you don’t find it too difficult to understand the mechanics at play between Warrior VS. X just by reading other people’s views/advice on it.

Jackals is pretty much right. It’s really a matter of experience. There is no way you’re going to know what to look for until you face against it over and over, or have the time/patience to play other classes yourself. There is no way around putting in the time to experience everything. So go out there and lose! YAY!

Well I can personally give you good tips against guardians as I play one.
The most important thing is: DO NOT try to out-last us in battle if you play burst build. You will lose. Second tip is that watch our boons like stability. Hammer can give real trouble if you happen to drop your combo when it’s not on. Hammer is also better against retaliation as the hits are slow but heavy. We have kittenloads of stunbreakers and cond removals so watch when you drop your burst. Try to catch us by surprise maybe.

If you’re playing a CC→burst build, what you need to do is two fold.

1. Count dodges, and pay attention if they have vigor or not
2. Bait stun breaks with your shorter CC’s

Most builds run 1 or 2 stun breaks. It can take awhile but once you’ve made them burn their stun breaks you can use your long CC and burst the crap out of them.
