Warrior axe buff feedback
I main warrior also and even after the changes to axe which are good, GS is still the prefered option. As long as GS is generating might and 100 blades had the dps output it does, it’s always going to be our bread and butter power staple. To the OP, warriors are in a great place, we might not have the best dps but we provide banners and empowered allies. We also do very good dps for both power and condi, not on the level of power ele or condi ranger but still very good.
We cannot have it all, for us to provide banners, empowered and better dps then we already have is just too much.
Plus we make a great Might battery while still laying down some pretty heavy dps; to free up eles to do something different…cause we’re cool like that…:)

I agree we can not have everything at once that’s why I think we need to have a choice to be support for team or deal good DPS. For example having 2 PS warrior in raid gruop will support team with might, banners and empowered allies and you could always get into groupn as DPS having no banners, no empowered allies, just focus on dealing dps.
Just tested it out, axe/axe can maintain 20someodd stacks of might to a party now.
Which is…. idk. Nice I guess? Unless it can out dps GS it’s not going anywhere though. And even if it did, it would just mean we’re switching from GS to axe (which is inferior for its lack of mobility/free dodge).
And if axe can do might now, it kind of seals the deal on it becoming a pure dps spec. So that sucks.
Greatsword feels horrible, they ruined it. I dislike the rhytm it has now, thank you Anet.
I hate every time balancing team does this.. they take a lot of the warriors current efficiency just to make these meaningless buffs that are ignored regardless.. so it’s just an overall performance nerf with the 13% shave off primal burst cooldowns.
The Primal Burst CD nerf from the trait should have just been for PvP. Power warrior is already one of the lowest DPS in PvE, so nerfing that for PvE as well only made things worse.
And Axe will never be good as long as GS has two traits that don’t conflict in the Strength line. Axe doesn’t have a master trait at all, and Axe Mastery conflicts with Berserker’s Power. So dropping GS loses 30% direct damage. 300 ferocity isn’t going to make up for that and the adrenaline on crit is useless since you already max out adrenaline well before Decapitate is ready because of the Smash Brawler nerf. That extra second on Primal Bursts made a huge difference and was clearly meant for PvP, but they didn’t split it from that.
If they want to make Axe good, then at least the Strength line needs some changes. AM cannot compete with BP as long as GS doesn’t have any competition. So, my suggestion is simple: swap AM with FG. Now GS will be the might stacking spec, but won’t get the 20% damage boost. Axe with its insane adrenaline generation can easily maintain max BP even outside Berserk, whereas GS can no longer do it reliably because of SB’s nerf adding 2 seconds to Berserk’s CD from before. This’ll give axe specs more damage while still making GS useful due its superior might stacking ability. Though this would hurt GS DPS even more, it would at least prevent from being a useless weapon, like axe currently is. They could also remove Body Blow because it has no synergy with anything aside from Distracting Strikes and Physical skills. Then replace it with something that can help DPS for other weapons, including GS. Let’s say every few attacks applies quickness for example.

But what they did to Shield Bash is horrible, i can understand the nerf on other stun skills but really shield bash ?!

Talking PvE.
Axe purely received buffs this patch, so of course it’s not worse now. But it was not, and still isn’t, “great”. It’s fairly trash if anything. It offers mediocre damage and no utility in group play.
This patch’s changes make it reasonably good for solo play thanks to its new self-buffing capabilities, but that’s about it.
And yea, shield bash and headbutt look and feel kittened now. Like, just awful. It’s painfully obvious the animations for those skills were not made for cast times of that length.

Throw Axe was hitting for 4k, Auto Attacks hitting for 3k each hit, its like a far improved mobile 100b, then add quickness …… holy kitten.. enemies falling left and right.

What they really need to do is swap the Hammer and Axe traitlines.

If you look at the damage of the the five skills of the GS vs A/A, you will see that the A/A damage is higher than GS, except Hundred Blades. Hundred Blades is the only skill that GS has that is decent. The others all suck compared to the axes.
I have been using A/A for a while, now. But the other day, I went and tried the GS, again. Like every other time in the past that I tried it, I died far more often than I would with axes. Fights that I could win with A/A, I couldn’t win with GS. And that is without changing my armor.

Thing you don’t understand.. Axe is a selfish weapon, in order to play it you have to give up the support you provide your team mates.. and for what? Damage that other classes can easily out dps you. In PVE
and in PVP the mobility is far superior than anything the axe has going
Axe has always had higher selfish DPS than GS. Greatsword had mobility, and Forceful Greatsword.
The problem is the Axe mastery trait is on the wrong godkitten line. It needs to swap places with Hammer.
Ok, I can understand that. I guess that since I only play open world pve, mostly solo, that I am simply not seeing the GS advantages.
I think they could give the axe build an easy buff by moving Axe Mastery trait of Strength from Grandmaster to Master tier so you could have both Axe Mastery and Berserker’s Power at the same time. As it stands Axe Mastery is a dead trait because it can not compete with Berserker’s Power an no one should ever use it.
Just did some testing yesterday using Axe/axe with axe mastery instead of GS with Berserkers Power on a normal PS build.
Axe/axe maintained 25 might single target with only momentary dips to ~20. It also killed MUCH faster than I thought. Even with the nerfs, GS shouldnt be outperformed by axe/axe this much if people had actually tested it before coming here to complain about how it’s useless. Axe mastery seems to be a DPS increase over BersPow with proper fury uptime, as you only lose ~2% DPS in straight numbers while gaining more quickness and fury.
Even if this test is skewed somehow, GS relies on hundred blades way too much and moving targets would significantly tilt in favor of axe/axe.
It is a shame about us still being behind other classes in terms of DPS, but “worse than GS” this is not.

I’m just a DH scrub but I will say Axe Whirl Pooper did 6k on me the other day. GS may have mobility but Axe damages on point is no joke.

I did it last night on my buddy,it took off half of my hp.Gotta remember that,cus it will happen.Thats about doing 10k damage to yourself.And you know how easily boons like retal are being pooped around.

Well I forgot to mention that I am talking about pve in this topic. PVP is a different thing because warrior is just OP there and we separate PVE and PVP. In PVE with those chages we had damage boost and still people testing axe/axe say that its 20k DPS and how is it compared to 35k+ dps of ele for example. I dont think that PS at current state needs rework, absolutely not because it makes warrior useful in every group but if we could play PS/CPS or DPS it would be nice and axe seem like should be a DPS weapon.
The added quickness is great, I already ran a quickness axe build, but this makes it even better.
