I want to find a good class that can easily dish out high damage and hopefully survive against a pack of mobs in PVE and WvW. So basically right now I’m torn between Warrior or Elementalists. Any suggestions?

according to the forums warriors are:

op, fotm, faceroll, “zomg anet nerf pls!!1noeoneshift+!!1”

while elementalist are:

unplayable, broken, “zomg anet buff plz!oneshift+11!!”

So if you go along the road you know where to head…

but, pick the one you enjoy playing the most, buff and nerfs come and go.

Eles are only underpowered if you dont know how to play them. But it really comes down to what you want to do. For DPS warriors win hands down. A good auramancer with D/D can provide much more support/heals than a warrior though.

Unfortunately for you, you are not the single metric which ArenaNet uses for class balance.

In my opinion you are a bit simple minded and negative way. There are multiple options and you choose the two most negative ones.

This is pretty much true. Elementalist is an advanced class. If you dont understand the attunements or how to maximize your build your going to suffer. Warrior is far more straight forward and able to provide pretty much the same utility and much more damage with far less work.

Personally prefer ele just because its more challenging to play effectively.

I was bunkerish condition warrior.

Im assuming if your running conditions and you couldnt kill him he was using ether renewal. which removes 8 conditions over its ~4 second channel while healing him. fairly short cooldown. animation is painfully easy to spot. interrupt it with a stun and you’ll win.

But then again if your also bunkerish he’ll probably just shrug off your damage with water attunement anyways. Bunker vs bunker can be pretty boring.

I’ve the same problem as you..
My 2 mains characters are a war and an ele.. and I don’t know to which one try to get a legendary weapon and to invest time…

But in my exp, I prefer elem in a pve way and a war in spvp. I don’t know for mvm as I don’t play there..

The Ele has much more survivability I think but do less damage..

This is of course my opinion.. not the best opinion of the game but with my experience of these classes.

You are correct. But it’s not really fair to switch utilities after map changes. I like fair and hard matches not faceroll omg I pwned u all builds(like dagger/pistol thieves ).

Most bunker builds you can disengage from. It is possible for bunkers to kill but you have to stay and fight for that to be decided. I can’t think of many bunker builds in this game that you can’t just walk away from. Even a few non bunker builds you can just walk away from.

Like lolcondition warriors as long as you don’t get hit with bow 6 condition warriors want you to stay in side the obvious burning circle and stand there while they leap at you with fire aura and then flurry you anyway. Off hand swords torment can’t stop you from getting way but it can kill you if you don’t constantly wipe it till its gone.

He made the same thread in ele forum and got basically the same answer. Both are biased, warriors love themselves cause of HB and elementalists hate themselves cause they’re bad at games.

And then that cleanse is on a 40 second cooldown, and I reapply those 25 stacks right after you use it ticking away at 200+ per tick while you wait for your long cooldown to cleanse it again. And if you use ether renewal, I interrupt it and it goes on full cooldown. And you switch to water to cleanse it, I use pindown on you again and auto attack you stacking another 25 bleeds. And then I drop my combustive shot on you which ticks for over 1k.

A warrior can self buffed regen something around 900 per second. ( a bit more, depends on how much healing you achieve)

and that’s only IF:

staying at 3 stages of adrenaline or that regen per second drop.

Being FULL +healing (like full apotechary and kitten)

Being Banner regen specced, so spending 30 points into tactics. (LoL)

mace/shield/gs is freaking strong. Some say OP. Condition warriors can do some good stuff but not againts something like necro, mesmer, engineer or ele.

I believe the difference between the classes is ele skills/traits are mostly terribad so you have to know what youre doing not to die but warr skills/traits are more self contained/functionally complete so you can let them do the work that an ele would have to supplement with positioning, camera work, and timing.

I enjoy both but only fully ascend my ele.

Warrior is good in any aspect of the game, but the playstile gets a little dull after some time.

Elementalist, on the other hand, is the worst class right now for PvP, thanks to the new meta. For PvE and WvW its fine.

A decently built condition warrior with even a fraction of a brain can melt any bunker within seconds. You’re doing something wrong. But without seeing your build or how you play, I can’t tell you what exactly you’re doing wrong.

When someone builds a survival character without dmg and enemy same kind build, it’s no wonder they can’t kill each other. They bouth are build to survive and not to deal dmg. You diss ele because u don’t know what utilities they have, how good cc they have, how good healing they have. I was condition dealer, he was condition cleaner. He was counter to my build while I was to his.

I mained ele before switching to warrior, so I know how they work. regardless of all the condition removal ele has, a decently built condition warrior can reapply all the conditions faster than they can cure them. even the super tanky 0/0/20/20/30 with full melandru runes and -40% condition duration food will melt in seconds to my condtion warrior. and I regen for 1500 and have over 3500 armor. My pindown alone does nearly 19k worth of bleed damage. every time I crit, which is almost every single attack, I proc a bleed as well.

You can’t regen 1500 per second. There goes ur credibility.

Nik does have a ele but I disagree that a condi warrior rolls ele in the end it just depends on the players fighting if he thinks condi warrior rolls eles then he has to be fighting bad eles.

If the ele is built to deal with conditions it is either a draw where both get bored or one person leaves. Neither can actually stop each other from leaving if both are specced pretty standard builds. The bow isn’t going to stop the ele besides pindown slowing him down and the ele isn’t going to stop the warrior just because he has regen so both can just leave.

Personally I think condition warrior is a niche novelty build. You can build direct damage to be just as survivable and kill people faster while not sacrificing mobility to run the bow which requires people to stand inside fire afk, and watch you leap at them gaining fire aura so you can flurry with impale mixed in somewhere.

I have both on lvl 80 and love both of them.

Warrior:

- low skill cap(perfect for beginners)
- probably the most played class at this moment, because:
- high DPS
- high HP(on Full zerk you have 20K…ele only has 12K)
- high armor
- great mobility
- big pool of weapons to choose from
- perfect for speedruns
- rules in WvW

In the end it´s all about spamming hundred blades(2nd GS skill) and fgj(gives you and your allies might etc.).

Elemenatlist:

- high skill cap(read below)
- usually average/good DPS…
- …with some builds it´s able to put out the highest DPS in the game( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jv3_7SzSgo , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKmo4FsMxPM#t=0m46s )
- lowest HP in the game
- low armor
- average mobility
- small pool of weapons to choose from(staff, dagger, scepter, focus)
- good support class in WvW
- able to conjure weapons

Ele has probably the highest skill cap in the game. You have 4 attunements(fire, water, air, earth) which means you have 20 skills. You only see 5 skills at any given moment which means you dont see the cd on the other 15. If you want to play the ele succesfull you NEED to switch constantly between the attunements. Ele is all about using combo fields and stacking might.

I wouldn´t recommend you an elementalist at this moment, because they are nerfed to death(in the last PvP tournament EVERY class was represented besides elementalist…maybe this will cause some attention of ANet – because all the QQ @ the ele subforum didn´t). The incoming buffs(which we know so far) aren´t too great and only affect conjured weapons and the staff(this is EXACTLY why no f***ing single ele was played at the tournament, ANet… -.-). However the ele is by far the most fun class in this game once you get the mechanics behind it(that´s why you still see some elemenatlists running around in this game…).

I would go with a warrior. In my honest opinion warriors are slightly op in this game(inbound 4flame in 3,2,1…) and they will get buffed with the october patch. Everyone loves warriors(I already mentioned at the top why)

Have you seen condition m/s/hammer/longbow/sword warriors running perplexity in WvW? Thats 9 stacks of confusion per interrupt….. I fail to see how that is trash.

Then we’re flooded with mail in game from kids apologizing about being idiots and begging my guild to share our builds. And we laugh and tell them to go F themselves.

You are wrong, I am right. And we’re getting a little bit sick of having to make videos to shut people up who don’t know what they’re talking about. 99% of the people on the forums are wrong. Maybe I should just screen shot and post all the messages we’ve gotten from idiot kids over the past few months who thought they knew better but were ultimately proved wrong.

Dolyak Runes – 30
Mango Pies – 85

heal power = 3302

Ele has probably the highest skill cap in the game. You have 4 attunements(fire, water, air, earth) which means you have 20 skills. You only see 5 skills at any given moment which means you dont see the cd on the other 15. If you want to play the ele succesfull you NEED to switch constantly between the attunements. Ele is all about using combo fields and stacking might.

I wouldn´t recommend you an elementalist at this moment, because they are nerfed to death(in the last PvP tournament EVERY class was represented besides elementalist…maybe this will cause some attention of ANet – because all the QQ @ the ele subforum didn´t). The incoming buffs(which we know so far) aren´t too great and only affect conjured weapons and the staff(this is EXACTLY why no f***ing single ele was played at the tournament, ANet… -.-). However the ele is by far the most fun class in this game once you get the mechanics behind it(that´s why you still see some elemenatlists running around in this game…).

I would go with a warrior. In my honest opinion warriors are slightly op in this game(inbound 4flame in 3,2,1…) and they will get buffed with the october patch. Everyone loves warriors(I already mentioned at the top why)

Warriors have “low skill cap” when they goes with hammer/mace/shield or mace/shield/gs. So if you go OP build then yea no wonder.
Otherwice it has higher skillcap than thieves, eles(ele has to know the pattern to perform skills), Necro, guardian and mesmer.

Warriors can not spam HB, it has cooldown. Warriors are not thieves.
Thieves have high dps.
Warriors don’t have awesome heals, stealth or life force pool. They do have nice regen and defensive stats but those are countered with conditions.
Great mobility, can’t argue with that. I agree with it.
Master of weapons indeed has big variety of weapons to choose from.
You need a mesmer for alots of speed runs also thief would be good. CoF record has rangers.
Rules in WvW as long as it goes OP build. Also thief, mesmer, necro and engineer can kill it depending on luck (if u think a scenario with equally skilled players).

Ele= Stability 6s every 90s..that’s it, you can try for 2s stability every 15s if you take useless earth trait

3) Overall dmg = Warrior > Ele both using soldier amulet and same traits disposition
Ele needs to go full glass cannon to surpass a warrior in soldier amulet, but then the already low survivability drop to 0

4) Number of builds and useful traits = Warrior > Ele…by a lot

Ele got both CD ( huge CD on skills ) and CD on attunement swap..also ICD on each attunement every time you swap, once you use your skills in one attunement, they’ll go on CD..and remain on CD even if you swap back to the same attunement.

Furthemore ele needs to use 3-4 skills to cover the same dmg done by the warrior with 1-2 skillss, basically those 20 skills are there just for show.

There is no reason to play ele outside your will to play a harder profession to feel…dunno what maybe some kind of PRO.

Unfortunately this is a game so nobody kittening care if you’re considered a PRO because you play a harder profession, people want efficiency and fun, while the fun may be there for ele ( loads of sparkling lights )..there is close to zero efficiency

I have every class at lvl 80 and I can attest that the 20 weapon skills the elementalist have has the same effective of the 5 skills from other professions. So, in reality you have to put 4x more effort to play the class just to be on pair with the others.

Before the nerfs ele was a profession with high skill cap / high reward. Not anymore and this is sad.

no, bunker/bunkerish ele are the most difficult thing to kill as a warrior specially a bunkerish one
you can 1v1 one of them for more then 40 mins without result.

Well I was able to achieve something like 1030 hp a sec with only 5 clerics kitten and like 200 healing power from traits so I believe 1500 can be achievable.

You missunderstood me. You got a full skill bar on each element, right? You use a skill on fire element and swap to water, now you will find 5 skills without cd on those, right? You will always have some skill without cd. Ofc warrior has the auto attack but it doesn’t do anything special, just strong dmg.

So many horrible warriors out there I see. Then how come I can drop them in seconds without any problem whatsoever? I have friends on other servers I usually duel with when we’re up against eachother. I know their exact build. Some of them run standard bunker build which everyone complains about being nearly impossible to kill. I’ve seen them take on 10-20 other people and not die, so they certainly aren’t bad. Yet I can drop those bunker eles in a few seconds. Like I said, most people who play warrior are idiots and you suck and have no idea how to properly (key word here being properly) build a warrior. As long as you keep using FOTM builds, of course you’re going to have trouble and keep failing like 99% of the warriors in this game who don’t know the amazing strength of the class.

Don’t forget I was condition warrior: dual sword + longbow and he had condition cleaning build. :P

And I still say you’re horrible for not being able to kill him. If you knew how to build a warrior the right way, he wouldn’t have even been a challenge. You’re probably using that fail meta condition build that everyone thinks is good. If you built yourself properly you’d be able to reapply those conditions faster than he could possibly cure them.
