Warrior or Guardian???
Asking if guardian is better than warrior in the warrior subforum? Lol warrior!
For PvE… Guardian, I’m yet to see a Warrior pull off something like what Obal does.
For sPvP it depends on what you want to play and how you want to play it
For WvW it’s a no brainer… Warrior all the way.
Currently the Warrior is in best shape due they have more available builds (burst dps, cc, condi bunker) and had much better mobility and due the have a lot more HP and beter regen (and some nice immunities) they can fit any role in the game.
Guardians are great for WvW raids (Warriors are also) and Wall of Reflection is usefull in dungeons… but that’s all. I have five 80’s (2 Warriors and a Guardian, which is my main) and I play my Guardian for sentimental reasons (I find Warriors much more fun and effective in the current meta of the different departments of the game).
don’t forget than in PVE warrior is required for speedruns thanks to banner buffs. guardian is very helpful, but can sometimes be dropped.
I would suggest that you try and have both in PVE – most dungeons are much easier with a good guardian, and pug guardians are not reliable at all. however, guardians have very little passive defence, and in weak groups with low DPS, you may find that the meta builds don’t stand up too well to repeated punishment. in that case I would suggest just bringing a warrior since they can tank even in the meta DPS builds and survive long enough to kill things.
I will say that after playing warrior for a while, I hopped on my old gaurd to see if I missed the class. I immediately felt very clunky and more than a little bored in comparison to warrior…which feels much more dynamic and fun IMHO.

well since you asked and I have no exp with gaurds warrior is my answer.
if your honest in considering then it goes out like this
guardian is better at bunkering they do not have the regen of a warrior but possess aegis and possess access to protection. warriors do not. this makes gaurds far better at tanking / bunkering then a warrior would be. because gaurds have protection their armor while protection is up is exactly 33% higher then a warriors (of the same build ofc)
gaurds are better at support then a warrior is for the most part. all warriors have that really go well for the team is banners (warriors have shouts so do gaurds though) so which is better well only 1 banner of the same type can be in effect at the same time for the same range. (bs maybe a exception i’ts extremely underated and so few favor it over rage because of rages slightly higher numbers and rage is better solo but not for most group events)
basically from my limited view the decision is wars are more dps prone while gaurds are more tank prone. in pve however more dps is usually a good thing although I will admit as a full zerk warrior at times I with I had more defense..
to put it to you a simple way. zerk warrior team breaks anything and does so quickly however as time goes on zerk warriors also break. it’s a vicious cycle that leads to zerk warriors trying to team with other zerk warriors because of the various pug groups not having zerk. i.e. this simple fact is where I believe a lot of the elitism comes from.
btw in all honesty think about what kind of play style do you prefer remember that while banners are powerful they also possess a limited range and limited use that is 2 banners of str will not stack. + requires someone to carry to spot b a good player / team can easily do dungeons with in the area of the banners.
btw it’s a very poor idea to ask warriors about how gaurds compare since a lot of response here will be biast and same if you asked in gaurds. it’s like asking a your friend whose girl friend (boy friend if you a woman) do you like more.
I play both guardian and warrior, honestly it’s very hard to say which one is more fun.
Warrior surely is in a better position right now but i like my guardian a lot in spvp, i think it can be more tanky than a warrior, even with the high regen it’s hard to survive a burst damage from a couple of players while with the guardian i usually have bettere chances.
I also feel like warrior at the moment have access to a wider variety of builds.
They both bring a lot to a party with shouts, banners, virtues.
Heavy armor is the only armor I play with the exception of Necromancer. I love them both. I generally think of my Warrior as the tough guy that does more damage and protects the weaker players. My Guardian is the support player that every group of players will need no matter what they do (WvW, PvP, PvE).
My Guardian is more built for WvW zerging, commanding, and support roles in small groups. The Warrior is more for solo roaming in WvW. Guardian is better with staff 1 ‘Wave of Wrath’ for tagging mobs in PvE but without retraiting, my Warrior does more damage on single targets. This is just how I choose to play the classes based on their build variety and how they feel/play for me.
In spvp, warrior is traditionally a roamer. Guardian can be something like a roamer too, with a meditation-based berserker setup.
It’s a bit trickier, but his damage and sustainability are similar to the warrior ones, you just have to be a bit more careful because you don’t have swiftness and have less hp as a guardian, but IMHO you aren’t weaker.
So, at least spvp wise, I’d suggest you to try both for a while, and see what feel you like best.
