Warrior vengeance.

Like many skills, Vengeance has an animation and a cast time. It’s about 1.5 seconds long.
Does anyone else feel like vengeance is slightly unresponsive? I feel like everytime I hit it there is a second or two delay and by that time… well, it’s pretty useless…
Every now and then in WvWvW or sPvP I feel like I hit vengeance but died anyway, which always elicits a “what the kitten!” outburst.
But it’s not useless. I’ve gotten a fair number of kills by rezzing and pulping the guy who downed me. And it’s even more useful in PvE, since NPCs aren’t good at finishing us off when we are downed.
YMMV.
In 99.9% of time I get stomped even before I can even use vengeance (wvw). So I really cant remember of any delay or casttime.
IMO all of our downed skills are entirely useless in wvw, unless you die in a 1vs1. Its so patetic compared to thieves or eles. =(

I’m not sure about that excluding ele mist form ability when downed. Thief has no protection even when vanishing for a bit they still take damage. Just drop a aoe on them and they’re good as gone. The teleport is ok but only if you went down using Shadow Refuge.
Warriors down state yeah I wish they had something else than the rock, but vengeance is overall great except the fact you die afterwards. What would be nice if they hot fix sweet revenge into vengeance so that we can get a new trait in disciple tree. If warriors are meant to play as a support role mainly and depend on other professions due to their lack of survivability. I say this could make warriors somewhat more enjoyable to play.

At the end it takes like 20+ seconds to finally kill a downed thief whereas it takes like 5s for everyone else (except eles). Sounds fair? Not at all.
And please dont tell me to AOE thieves in stealth. I AOE thieves all day long but guess what? Range AOEs have cooldowns. So in most cases my AOEs are not ready when thieves go down.

Uh, thieves are actually fairly simple to finish when downed. Don’t even bother stomping, just kill them.
If they get downed when stealthed (often times you should have a feeling if this occurred ie: you hit 100b, they got low hit stealth, then you whirlwind over their escape path, they are most likely downed) just start auto attacking around where you last saw them. 9 times outta 10, they are downed right where you last fought them, or really close by. Use 100b to finish them off.
Most thieves are pretty squishy too, so you can finish them on the ground with attacks fast. They have the weakest by far downed-vs-downed combat too, so even if you down each other simultaneously, you already won basically.
This is only true when you down a thief 1vs1 in melee range. What I was talking about is WvW, which is not about 1vs1 but mass fights. When nobody is in melee range of a downed thief, its quite easy for him to survive 15s for Shadow Escape.
Shoot him? If he’s downed in the middle of his zerg, just volley > kill shot him. Thief #2 down skill doesn’t let them teleport that far, and you will auto-track them with ranged auto attacks anyways. Its not like he’s an ele that can mistform and run all the way to the back of his zerg or into a tower/keep or something.
Thief downed skills are pretty average. You should never be trying to stomp a thief. You should just kill them via whatever weapon you have. Its almost impossible for a thief to get up unassisted as well, unless you downed them while they were in shadow’s refuge. Their downed #1, #2 and 3 skills are basically designed solely for anti-stomp. Very low downed damage, low survival (innate, being a thief), and no accelerated res/healing.
I hate vengeance… I choose this class and built myself so I don’t die… ironically my “best” downed skill is kill myself in 15 secs… better let myself die with the mobs and rez quicker.
and NO, im not going to waste 20 points in a trait line I don’t care about just to have a rally chance. I’d love to have a turtle skill to increase my rally chances rather than this terminate me in 15 secs.

Thanks! So from the time I hit the button I have to remember that I need to buy ~1.5 seconds more in order to actually get the vengeance. I just wasn’t sure if the cast time animation actually affected when you actually got the ‘rally’. I just figured the animation was there and didn’t actually affect the time frame from button press to up and fighting. I guess my warrior would be ridiculous strong with the rally on vengeance trait tho if I didn’t have to wait that extra 1.5 seconds…. still seems like we could do with a faster cast. On that note… is it the same animation underwater for vengeance? I could sware it casts faster. I can pretty much always vengeance in water combat.
