Warrior w/ Longbow vs Ranger
rangers are in a bad spot in general atm from what I hear and honestly they deserve a few buffs.
with that said I have not played a ranger so no comment on that.

I checked out their other Weapon Skills, and while they look great, there’re also a lot which you need to be a pet user to get the most out of. I was imagining being some kind of psuedo Thief, inflicting Poison and Blind or something from afar, but it just doesn’t feel as fun. I would make a Necro, but don’t you get basically two pets? Aww no :’(
Necro pets are 100% optional- don’t spec for them and you won’t need them.
Ranger is completely borked. They can be made to work with a lot of effort, but they are shackled to the pet which is fail for many technical reasons. Then they are balanced on the assumption that the pet is working properly 100% of the time- which it obviously is not. So their normal skills and weapons tend to be much weaker to compensate for the pet. End result is the class is overall the weakest of all classes.
I’d keep the ranger just in case they fix it someday, since it’s a versatile and fun class with a lot of skill options. Unless you need the character slot, since there’s a pretty slim chance of them fixing it any time soon.

Ranger will never be fixed ever. They told us rangers 100 times over that they wont redesign the AI since its tied up with the general monster AI (what a brilliant idea to not properly split those two). So basically, if Anet gonna fix rangers, they gotta redesign the whole monster AI, not just pets.
Also, fun fact, if you apply pet DPS ontop of ranger AA attacks, their AA DPS just wrecks havoc on most professions. Only comparable DPS weapon i know of is Warrior hammer, however that has a small aftercast between the skills, so its not as quick as it appears.
Either way, no matter what Anet does, ill stick with a ranger till i find some other game that interests me more. They work quite well in WvW, despite what people claim. And i have yet to find a warrior, necro, guardian or ele that can beat my ranger 1v1 without launching a surprise attack, so atleast in 1v1/solo roaming, i got nothing ot worry about.

I have both warrior and ranger at lv80. I don’t enjoy warrior at range while i never drop my longbow as ranger. I hate the pet as much as you do at first but i learnt to love my pet at last. Ranger maybe doing a bit less dps than my warroir but she is 300% easier to stay alive if things go south. As archer i favor ranger more tho.
I like the idea of a warrior with longbow and melee weapons, but i would switch too ranger if they did more damage. I really like pets, but the damage is just disappointing if you played a warrior.
As long as there are pets in the game rangers will always be in a terrible state.
Ranger Longbow absolutely sucks compared to Warrior. However, I like Ranger GS more than Warrior GS honestly, Ranger GS damage is just too low. Very weak. Skill wise though, I prefer the Ranger
For ranged, I much prefer the Warrior’s skill-set. Burst provides a fire field, as-well as having a strong blast-finisher and an immobilize. The Ranger’s SB/LB just suck in general, poor damage output as it’s ranged combat and inferior utility on them.
Ranger is a misnomer though, I REALLY wish they didn’t name them Ranger’s so all the muppets wouldn’t camp their LBs and use a Sword/WH instead.

I like to play my ranger, but I mostly play my warrior. Because in a team the warrior is simply better, and people just know it.
Anyway, as much as I like ranged weapon, the melee they do more damage and they work in the stacking tactics, which is dominant. Most pug groups are not very fond of ranged only warriors.
I always thought warrior’s longbow was very powerful, but then it got the huge buff to pin down, giving it bleeds.
Ranger’s longbow isn’t really powerful at all, and is awkward to use, but when you can get it to work well, it is kind of fun. Just don’t use the weapon for too long at once.
I like both bows because you can hit past the max range, especially if you have a height advantage. That situation rarely happens, and isn’t all that great, but I like it.
When you even have to ask the question is points to:
1) Rangers are in a bad spot
2) Warriors are in a ridiculous spot.
Buff the ranger. Nerf the warrior.

How about just buff the ranger and leave the class you have no idea what’s going on with alone? Thanks.

Fixed.
I made Kudzu on my ranger over a year ago and have used it only a few times (I found out immediately after that making your ranger a bunker build was incredible effective). Now I’m thinking of moving it over to my newly leveled warrior. Maybe then it’ll get some use.
Oh yeah, no kittenty pets either.

Still running my old RRR build because why not
I main warrior, don’t have a ranger but every time I duel with bow using ranger I feel like they needs a buff. I don’t care if it’s spirit ranger, on 1vs1 it still feels a bit weak. In other hand sword/torch ranger is a strong dueler AND very fun to play against.
When I missed the poison and had cleaning on cd few seconds after that my hp was nearing half way. I got bursted a bit there. It was so nice. I made a mistake and got punished yet I was able to come back and get 75%+ hp by dodging and playing defensive. The ranger had same kind of sustain and cleaning as I did. It was like who makes the two mistakes in a row first looses. It was so rewarding to win, and loosing made me even happier as ranger wasn’t the weakling I used to think it was. Also when I fought ranger with a sword first time I was amazed how good it was. It ate my guild’s best pvper and made him angry. It made me happy as ranger showed it isn’t a free kill.
In short: Bow ranger should get a buff, sword ranger is in a good spot except I heard the auto attack roots the ranger somehow and should be fixed.
BOW RANGER NEEDS A BUFF

Fast Hands is what made me choose one over the other. It was easy for me.

No actually warriors are completely over the top. They need to be brought back down to reality.
